In the United States, the Constitution guarantees freedom of religion — that is, the freedom to practice any (or no) religion, as you see fit. It also specifies that the government may not "establish" a religion, thereby protecting separation of church and state.
The state's superintendent for schools recently issued an order mandating that all public schools must now teach the Christian Bible in classrooms — in direct contradiction to the Constitution.
Students of other religious backgrounds — and of no religious background — are being discriminated against in the process. No government official has the authority to force their religion on others — especially not on other families' children.
