Protests in Choucha, Refugee Camp Tunisia: Support needed!‏

Dear Friends,

We are activists who got onto the topic of Choucha refugee camp through
the Boats4People project. In Choucha the situation for refugees is
increasingly getting worse -- that is what we want to indicate with a
publicity and support campaign. In this mail, we want to inform you
shortly about the situation in Choucha. We would kindly ask you to sign
the open letter adressed to Ms Ursla Schulze Aboubacar, representative
of UNHCR/Tunisia, that you find attached. This letter supports the
protest of refugees in choucha, as we will explain in the next lines.

Choucha?
Since almost two years Choucha refugee camp exists close to the
tunisian-libyan border. After UNHCR offered an asylum procedure to those
fleeing the libyan conflict, almost 2000 people were able to travel via
the resettlement programme to safe third countries. Up to date there are
another 2000 persons remaining in Choucha. Many of those did not receive
the refugee status and bewail numerous mistakes performed by UNHCR
during their procedures. Others received the refugee status, but were
refused to access the resettlement programme. Both affected groups
lament their increasingly precarious situation in the refugee camp. From
octobre 2012 on, rejected refugees are refused access to nutrition and
medical support. All refugees living in Choucha are furthermore
prohibited to move freely in Tunisia. The refugee camp is supposed to be
closed around june 2013. What will happen to those without access to the
resettlement programme remains unclear. The UNHCR is not offering any
solution whatsoever.

Engaging for a durable solution
For this reason, many refugees of Choucha camp got together, developed
common demands and decided to resist against their lack of prospects.
Their recent demands are for example a verification of rejected
asylum-cases, the resumption of supply for all of those remaining in
Choucha as well as an enlargement of the resettlement programme. Some
press conferences by supportive organisations as well as self organised
protests in Choucha served as a forum for those demands untill now.
Starting with the new year, many refugees of Choucha want to intensify
their protest. The detailed plans are still being discussed – but
beginning the new year the protest is going to start.

Open letter to tunisian UNHCR
We wrote an open letter to the Tunisian representative of UNHCR, Ms
Ursula Schulze Aboubacar, which you find attached. This letter contains
a critique of the humanitarian politics of ignorance, towards the
already expressed demands of the refugees. The central message of the
letter is, that we as activists and organisations in the field of
migration know about the situation of those remaining in Choucha and to
state clearly that we support the refugees demands. It is obviously of
major importance that as many organisations and individuals as possible
sign this letter! We need your signatures as fast as possible, because
we are planning to send out the open letter to Ms Schulze Aboubacar in
the first week of January.

As the protest has not started yet, this letter is not meant to be
published in a wider range. Nevertheless, feel free to circulate it and
the information within solidary circles.

In case you would like to further support the protest, please send us an
e-mail. Also for further questions, contacts to the protesting refugees
or other information, contact choucha@riseup.net.

Solidarity with Vienna's Refugee Protestcamp from Oranienplatz Berlin -
29.12.2012

A solidarity message from Berlin to the Sisters and Brothers resisting in
Vienna after the eviction of the Refugee Protestcamp of
Sigmund-Freud-Park. Together we stand. The fight goes on.
http://asylstrikeberlin.wordpress.com

“We, the Refugees and Supporters of the Refugee-protest camp at the
Oranienplatz Berlin Germany want to strongly point out our solidarity with
our fellow Refugees and their Supporters in Vienna, who were victims of
the brutal police operation in the early morning of 28.12.2012.

The eviction of your Protest Camp was totally unjust, the way it was
driven directly by the government and executed by their inner armed forces
by bypassing the City Council. The sudden operation with no announcement
or further negotiations together with the humiliating treatment of our
fellow refugees as well as the arrest of some of them is by no means
tolerable and will never be accepted.

We strongly condemn the harassment and violation of human rights executed
by the state police in the camp last night. Politically these kind of
practices are aimed at keeping Refugees in isolation as part of the
european post-colonialistic policies to keep all of us asylumseekers and
migrants away from Europe. This must stop!

We all here in Berlin feel strongly with YOU- the Refugees in Vienna! We
wish you to have the power and courage to take the last nights eviction as
no reason to give up the fight but in contrast to take to the streets even
stronger!
We send all our solidarity from our hearts to YOU!
Together we stand!
The struggle continues!”

Vienna

By pressteam on December 29, 2012

All our support and solidarity to the protest of migrants and asylum
seekers in Vienna!

The protest camp set up by asylumseekers in Vienna has been brutally
evicted last night. It is part of a growing European movement of migrant
struggles, that has recently seen similar protests in Berlin, Amsterdam
and Calais, as well as Lesvos, Budapest and other places. They contest
authoriatrian border regimes and the migration policies of the EU and its
member states.

Please spread this call via your lists and blogs, and email
refugeeprotestvienna-solidarity@riseup.net to sign the statement (Subject:
Solidarity Vienna)! https://refugeecampvienna.noblogs.org

The protest camp

On the 24th of November 2012, hundreds of migrants seeking asylum in
Austria marched from the isolated and overcrowded government camp storing
them to set up a protest camp in Vienna along with Austrian supporters.
Their demands are: the right to work and stay in this prosperous European
country, as qualified legal support and translation. Building their own
and self-sustained protest camp, the protesters have created a vibrant
space of participatory democracy, solidarity and mutual aid; an inspiring
constituent process. They have shown what a truly open and cosmopolitan
Europe might look like.

The church occupation

On the 18th of December, after weeks of building a strong movement and
camp, and after weeks of being ignored by the government, they decided to
move into the church that borders on the protest camp. When the
asylumseekers sought refuge in the church the government could no longer
ignore them. However, while the government has acknowledged the legitimacy
of their demands, the talks have been fruitless as the government refused
to take the necessary action to improve the situation.

The hunger strike

The days of Christmas, which so festively celebrate that Joseph and Maria
found asylum in Bethlehem, have been a cold and inhospitable time for the
protesters. As politicians joined their families, leaving the refugees
with little more than vague promises of more talks, the refugees saw
little other option but to enter into hunger strike.

Meanwhile, migrants have come to Vienna from all over the country, to join
this protest and affirm the importance of another kind of politics of
migration and asylum. Their demands have been echoed and supported: we
have heard the director of Caritas as well of different union leaders
affirm the importance of giving migrants the right to work as they seek
refuge.

The eviction

Today, on the 28th of December, in the dark of the night, a large number
of police violently evicted the camp. The frame of the democracy and
community that has been built up in the cold winter month running up to
Christmas was razed to the ground within few hours.

The politicians in charge have not only broken the talks, but chosen to
penalize the act of protesting against the inhuman conditions that asylum
seekers have to tolerate in Austria. Police registered the identity of
everyone at the camp; people who were inside tents had to stand up in
front of the tents, were photographed and filmed from all sides in most
humiliating ways. The police now presses charges against 24, and two are
said to be arrested because of lack of residence permit.

But people are determined to continue the struggle, with the church
filling with ever more refugees and transmigrants every day – even if the
support of the church and Caritas is very reluctant, at times blocking
access to the church. Freedom of movement and protest are human rights –
we support the important cause of migrant struggles and the brave acts of
civil disobedience in Vienna and everywhere in Europe!

We demand that the Austrian Government

guarantees the right to protest, also for non-Austrian citizens;
stops any ongoing legal actions against people exercising their right to
protest;
stops all racist policing;
resumes the negotiations with the asylumseekers, which this violent
eviction was so clearly designed to interrupt.

We repeat and stand fully behind the asylumseekers’ demands:

1.) Grundversorgung (basic support) for all asylumseekers, as long as they
reside in Austria, irrespective of their legal status;
2) Free choice of their location of residence in Austria, and access to
public housing for all asylum seekers residing in Austria – no transfers
against the wishes of the people concerned;
3) Access to employment, educational institutions and social security for
all migrants residing in Austria;
4) Stop all deportations to Hungary – stop all deportations associated
with the Dublin Regulation 2;
5) Establishment of an independent authority for substantive review and
appeal of all negative replies to asylum applications;
6) Recognition of socio-economic motives in addition to the previously
recognized escape reasons

(en) Coordination of Anarchist Groups (CGA) - Until the abolition of marriage ... Marriage for all! (fr)

Anti-patriarchy ---- Lille - GDALE ---- Until the abolition of marriage ... Marriage for
all! ---- Heterosexuality is a single standard of life and the relationship between the
individual ? e ? s standard defined by the capitalist system and patriarchy. It is one of
the foundations of the system of domination that we face, which alienates some and oppress
others. ---- Hope some and some had founded in changing the "political staff" at the head
of the state, has quickly turned into real doubt as to the evolution of society in the
relational and interpersonal, to name a few. The opening of the possibility of marriage to
homosexual couples is the loincloth who would still have us believe that the Socialist
Party has a policy on the left. More equality between individuals and individual liberty,
it is conceivable that in a societal framework which will emancipatory is the real engine
of the proposed changes, a society in which the various systems of domination were
abolished. We are counting!

System and h?t?ropatriarcal cissexiste * has again and again, every day, its symbolic
violence, physical and sexual violence against women, lesbians, gays, bi ? e ? s, trans
people and intersex. In this context, to earn the right to "marriage for everyone "and
the right to adoption for same-sex couples will not end the situation of verbal and
physical violence, suffered by individu.es that are cis * men not straight.

Marriage remains an institution related to the patriarchal society and state that we
reject. It is the foundation of the traditional nuclear family - a heterosexual couple and
possibly their children, the basic unit of patriarchy. It is the formalization of the
appropriation of women's bodies by men and the soil of gender-based violence and sexual
abuse. "Marriage for All" is shown as a breakthrough that will allow lesbians and gay
couples access to the same material benefits that straight couples. However, it will not
get rid of homophobia.

For several weeks, the public space is saturated hexagonal violently homophobic speech.
Mobilization of 17 and 18 November scroll saw tens of thousands of people came to
demonstrate against the bill opening marriage to gay couples. On November 17, a broad
political coalition brought together everything that the country can hold family
advocates, the extreme right to the left thinking well. On 18 November, a group of fascist
factions and fractions came pouring his homophobia by force, batons and violence.
Complicit silence accompanies these violent demonstrations and hateful. More generally,
they fall in a reaffirmation virulent patriarchal order which is also accompanied by such
attacks against the right to abortion.

Marriage is an institution to be abolished. However, as long as it exists, it is important
for us to be accessible to all. If we are in the street, it is neither to defend nor to
beg the family to the U.S. State any form of recognition. If we are in the street, it is
against all dominations induced heterosexist society whatsoever.

* A person is a person whose cis social sex is the one assigned at birth. The system is
cissexisme domination affirming cissexualit? as standard, from which the mechanisms of
oppression experienced by trans people.

Event for the legal and social equality! Bastille 14h Anti-patriarchy Social Struggles
Paris area

EVENT FOR EQUALITY BETWEEN LEGAL AND SOCIAL TOU-TE-S,

whatever our gender identity or our sexuality!

Sunday, December 16 at 14h at Bastille

We will be there to defend an anarchist point of view and distribute the flyer below. In
addition, we note the presence of a radical procession was formed at the initiative of
feminist organizations, LGBT (Lesbian Gay Bi and Trans), unions and libertarian
organizations: it is very likely that you find the edge of it, rather than the socialist
youth and their supporters. For us, it is of course no question of coming there to support
the ruling party in a lot of popularity. What we want is that the state and the
reactionaries of all stripes let us live our sexuality as we understand!

(Text of the leaflet)

Lesbians, gays, bis and trans:
we want everything now!

"What I think is that the basic idea must remain,
for marriage, for couples and for life in general,
that humanity is divided between men and women "
(Lionel Jospin, PS, first ex- Minister, November 9, 2012 on Canal +) "Yes Family, No to
homofolie" (Banner of homophobic head of the demonstration of 18 November)

The right-wing fascist left to right-thinking (which include many president, ministers,
MPs and other socialist careerists), homophobia is in full swing his last weeks in the
streets and in the media. For us, anarchists, it goes without saying that a human being
can not be considered inferior to another because of gender identity, sexuality, color of
skin, nationality, language it- she speaks, beliefs or social origin. Defend equal rights
for tou-te-s seems important and necessary. But that's not all: equal rights won by women
after decades of fierce fighting was not enough to stop the oppressive situation in which
they find themselves again. The patriarchal system still exerts its daily violence,
symbolic, physical and sexual violence against women as a whole. Similarly, to earn the
right to marriage or adoption for same-sex couples can not put an end to the daily
violence, verbal and physical, that we experience when we dare say our life practices
non-heterosexual . Capitalism, patriarchy and racist system with the heterosexual norm it
carries, are systems of domination that oppress us and reinforce each other. When we do
not have the money or the wrong color to go to places where we can feel safe, equal rights
will not protect us. When we show you with our families, our friends or on the street with
our friends or our sisters and we're rejected-and beat-es, equal rights will not protect us.

Lesbians, gays, bis, trans or straight, to achieve equality, true, not just on paper, we
know that we need to destroy capitalism, patriarchy and heterosexism, racist system of
domination and State.

We want to live our lives as we understand it: between men, between women, between men and
women, only-e, two or more married-e or not, with or without children, under the same roof
or not ... We want to unite for one night or for life, we love and we want where we want
and when we want, in the way that seems appropriate.

We want everything! We want the legal and social equality!
We want the abolition of gender and the heterosexual norm!
We want the sexual revolution, feminism, social and libertarian!

(en) France, Alternative Libertair #222 - Notre-Dame-des-Landes: Coup police force (fr)

Since October 16, enormous police resources are mobilized to evict activists squatting and
farm dedicated to the future airport Notre-Dame-des-Landes. ---- JM Ayrault did not
hesitate to grant the prefect important ways: CRS 600, 400 mobile guards, GIPN,
helicopter, backhoe loaders, excavators ... all at the expense of the taxpayer who pays
hotel accommodation in any of the cops region (between 500,000 and 1 million euros per
week). Tuesday 16 at 6:30 am, with great fanfare tear gas and intimidation of any kind,
the attack was launched against militants occupy and cultivate the area to defend (ZAD [ 1
]) of Notre-Dame-des-Landes so, according to the prefect, " neutralize all stays illegal
means . " About 150 200 people reside on the ZAD. Evictions have been anticipated, the
resistance was organized: barricades on the roads, occupations roofs and trees ... And
Nantes: daily demonstrations.

A huge area of ??lawlessness

Several squats were expelled or destroyed and reoccupied several other places can not be
deported before October 27. The coup police should continue to criminalize activists and
creating a huge area of lawlessness in the northern municipalities of Nantes
(Notre-Dame-des-Landes, Vigneux-de-Bretagne, Fay-de-Bretagne ...) where people must
undergo identity checks, interviews and searches of vehicles by 500 blue on site
permanently. There have been arrests, police custody, school buses no longer go everywhere ...

Everything is under police control. The State Service Vinci suspended most basic freedoms
such as freedom of movement and freedom to manifest one. The event of 20 October 1500 was
attended Nantes 2 000 people, many political organizations and trade unions (the Left
Party, NPA, Alternative, AL, CNT, Conf?d?ration Paysanne, Partners, Fase, ACIPA) and
elected [ 2 ] with an absence of telling which side of EELV in 2011, promised yet no
agreement with the government of PS would be signed without removing the project.

Expulsions ordered by Ayrault more involved in a struggle for housing - 300 people in the
street - which led to the occupation of the "unique place" cultural mecca Nantes. The PS
and Housing Minister Duflot, do not hesitate to expel additional 150 people before winter.
The prefect pays more luxury to the prosecutor about " some objectionable writings of
opponents calling for armed struggle and to intervene with violence in companies . " The
PS also attacks the freedom of expression. Faced with this coup, the resistance must
continue and organize to stop this catastrophic airport project! A manifestation of
reoccupation will be held on November 17 at the ZAD and collections are organized to help
the deportees.

(en) Rusga Libertarian / MT - CAB - Manifesto for life in defense of indigenous peoples (pt)

We are all Guarani-Kaiow?! We are all Maraiwatsede! ---- "The more neoliberal economic
structures want to erase the presence of alternative indigenous peoples in our midst we
should sympathize more with the presence and experience of these alternatives-root people,
people-witnesses of heart unite our full solidarity to the struggles and hopes of
indigenous peoples . The cause is all ours, all of the God of Life. "(Dom Pedro
Casald?liga) ---- We citizens, citizens and entities Mato Grosso, through this manifesto,
we raise our voices in defense of indigenous peoples because, as Don Pedro says "the cause
is a cause entranhavelmente Indigenous OUR". Nowadays many native peoples in Brazil are
subjected to an environment of brutality can be considered as survivors of genocide
committed against them history for over 500 years, demonstrating - to the astonishment of
the world (because we still need to wonder!) -

That life human, in the XXI century, is not treated with the amount due and not with
respect to their differences.
Faced with so many injustices we experience daily lift our voices and condemn AS
COLLECTIVE RIGHTS VIOLATIONS these people and, moreover, yell FOR THE LIVING WELL
RE-STRENGTHEN to EXIST in a gesture of solidarity frank, without which our existence also
loses meaning.
emphasize that violations are committed against many people, but this time we came
vehemently denounce the atrocities committed against two Brazilian indigenous peoples, the
Guarani-Kaiow?e the Xavante (Indigenous Land Maraiwatsede).
The genocide faced by the Guarani-Kaiow? of Mato Grosso do Sul is unacceptable! For the
group of 170 Indians who survive on the edge of a river, surrounded by gunmen, expelled
from their traditional lands where their ancestors are buried, where is planted their
history, where ever experienced their culture, their spirituality ... today, not them more
belongs.
There are 50 men, 50 women and 70 children who collectively decided to stay and die if
need be, die with all that is on earth belongs to them. The group, in a letter to all
Brazilians, describes his plight food (only one meal per day) and violence against them,
especially against their leaders - four deaths in a group of 170 people - two by suicide
and two by beatings and shootings. On October 30, 2012, an appeal was accepted by the
Funai justice, but the gunmen continue to intimidate and, while the process is not
completed, the Guarani-Kaiow? are at the mercy, their children remain malnourished,
continuing killings by gunfire , beatings and roadkill on highways that cross their
territories. This systematic violence adds to the Brazilian government itself in its
slowness in the process of study and demarcation of territories that have so often give in
to pressure from landowners agribusiness.
The situation, however, is not limited to one state. In Mato Grosso, the Xavante (people
A'uwe Uptabi) that inhabit the Indigenous Land Maraiwatsede await eager for the intruders
from their lands. The struggle of this people through their territory lasted more than
half a century. Since the 1960s, when the territory was occupied by the Xavante
Agricultural Sui?-missu (the largest estate in the world at the time), these Indians were
transferred to the Indigenous Land Mark, in southern Mato Grosso, and there remained about
40 years. Among the long and successive legal appeals, justice finally approved the
disengagement plan of non-Indians who occupy that indigenous territory. It was determined
that Maraiwatsede again be occupied by its first inhabitants: the Xavante people. We speak
to us in favor of these people, because DOS is Maraiwatsede XAVANTE!
Therefore, we demand that the Government of Brazil demonstrates the meaning of his
existence and commitments to society in the Federal Constitution by taking concrete action
to return to the Guarani-Kaiow?, the Xavante indigenous peoples and all Brazilians, the
right to lead their lives, with dignity and autonomy in their traditional territories. We
demand that the inalienable rights are met, unavailable and imprescriptible indigenous
peoples. And to reaffirm our commitment to strengthen our cry:
WE ALL INDIANS!
WE ARE ALL GUARANI!
WE ARE ALL XAVANTE!

(en) France, Coordination Groups Anarchistes CGA IAL #93 Fire crisis: A st Denis season evictions and class war knows no truce (fr)

Housing CGA ---- The financial crisis and the debt crisis reinforce deep and lasting
crisis: the housing crisis. Fabricated by the owners, the state and municipalities, the
traditional lever of capitalism to maintain operations, it should be noted that it has
increased in the wake of attacks related to these crises. If popular cities are affected
first, multiplying evictions of tenants, squatter-Artists may well become a reality for
all. This is what happens in other neighboring countries where the attacks are linked to
the crisis stronger: Spain, Greece, United States. ---- ST Denis renovation rhymes with
expulsion ---- A Saint Denis, a town awash in work: target of urban renewal, the city
signed in 2010 PNRQAD (National Plan for Redevelopment Districts Veterans Gradients).

Combining state, municipalities, developers and it is a boon for hunting conducted in poor
neighborhoods. Indeed, under the pretext of renovating houses and fight against health
hazards, they displace, expel, expropriate and makes it impossible for former es-es capita
access to new housing (too expensive, higher ceilings for social leases ). A St Denis
where 34% of dwellings are unsafe in the center, the plan 150 1,200 demolitions and
housing rehabilitation. Season expulsions knows no truce.

A Saint Denis, prefecture and municipality continue to increase deportations of buildings.
This was in an area near the station Charles Michel, buildings were expelled after the
fire, another building in the neighborhood station is expelled. And when fire destroyed a
building unsafe as wildfire, mayor and state in the blood mark their contempt for these
tenants: no relocation, two nights after the torn social threat of occupation of the labor
exchange . A fable racist against other examples of this type of drama. Indeed, a large
part of the inhabitants-es were undocumented, and you always racialized-s (suffering
racism). It will require the mobilization of stricken es themselves, still in shock that
the mayor and the state are driven to find solutions.

Fire: the tree that hides the forest

What happened in St Denis at the time of fire, it is the tree that hides the forest, the
epitome of this class war led to the poor. On the night of Saturday 8 to Sunday, September
9, a fire broke out at 39, rue Gabriel Peri, Saint-Denis, killing two people and leaving
forty homeless people. Despite the announcement of the Minister C. Duflot immediate
relocation of damaged-es, es some of capita-es of 39 do not even have emergency
accommodation solution in the evening of 9 September (es some of them and of them were
denied access to health care in hospitals, and without official paper of the municipality
of Saint-Denis, to the social check-in Noisy-le-Sec-es have been forced to sleep outside
). The next night, emergency solutions are known, are for everyone until very late in the
evening. A rally was held Tuesday, September 11 in front of the fire building, where
capita-es and activists come together and decide to invest room the Labour Exchange to
meet and consider the follow-up to the fight for relocation of capita-es. Therefore,
activists, permanent es associations (DAL ...), sometimes close to the mayor in place,
pose a strongly hierarchical control framework (tinged with paternalism latent) d?douanant
mayor of responsibility and directing capita-es to bring their claims to the Department,
when we know that the council has the ability to commandeer unoccupied. A demonstration is
scheduled for tomorrow, news are written to organize the struggle and the balance of power
in front of the town hall. Before the event, and in a context even harder, since a new
person has succumbed to his injuries, capita-es decided to occupy the Basilica of
Saint-Denis to put pressure on the mayor and the prefecture in order to their right to
immediate and permanent relocation, Saint-Denis. After a night of occupation and
negotiations with the prefect, the damaged-es are offered a solution that is not
satisfactory: they will be hosted es, until 1 st October in a social hotel in Saint-Denis
. The accommodations were extended but the struggle remains to be done!

But what is unsafe? This is the slumlords who have full place in the city, it is the right
of ownership and the laws that mark their unconditional support to the owners, it is the
mayor who hardens the conditions for recognition of unsafe and leaves do slumlords. In the
center, many slumlords are day and night for many tenants and sub-tenants. They leave
rotting homes and extort every month tenants rents skyrocketing. Made from scratch,
unhealthy is nothing inevitable.

And the mayor will stop at nothing to save face! A mail delivered the day after the
occupation of the Basilica of St Denis in all boxes of the city reported, "After the fire
on the night of 8 to 9 September, which caused the death of two people, the entire
municipality has mobilized alongside the victims and their families "(e" Absorb the slums
private emergency "). "Mobilized"? Torn at first by mobilizing disaster: two nights
office, a fee of 8 euros per day for four days proposed to es-stricken who had lost all
their papers, and had no roof over their heads the aftermath of the tragedy.

What lessons can we learn from this fight and what are the prospects for intervention are
considered to be active, as anarchists in the struggle housing?

-Exit the emergency is not involved in charity as support to damaged or es-es expelled,
but as people are concerned, the problems of poor housing and / or deported. We are all
concerned and all-es by housing policies that aim to make war on the poor pretext of
fighting against unhealthy: they pay rent ruining, which is ill-housed-es, that we know
the unhealthy

-Exit the emergency is to act upstream of evictions to create class solidarities that are
based on the interests of each person to organize his neighbor-e.

-Exit the emergency is locate in a neighborhood, act locally through leaflets broadcasts
through collages to make visible the presence of militants, to educate capita-es to
subject, to create horizontal solidarities between the main and main-'re concerned.

Members of the anarcho-syndicalist CNT union and CGT union have gone on indefinite strike

to the town council. IMESAPI itself is a part of the huge ACS conglomerate owned by

owner of Real Madrid FC. ---- Crucially, all of the workers at the Granollers plant belong
to either the CNT or CGT unions, who have vowed to back the strike as long as it
continues, unlike the mainstream Comisiones Obreras union, who signed off on similar
redundancy packages at IMESAPI plants in Barcelona (which saw a failed strike) and Tenerife.

Despite now finding themselves alone in their struggle, the IMESAPI strikers have been
industrious: holding twice-weekly family demonstrations marching through the town to the
town hall. The strikers' march through the town centre on 22 December was a cold bucket of
water for shoppers on possibly the most important commercial day of the year. As their
children - at the demonstration's head with a banner that said: ?FLORENTINO PEREZ, WHAT
ABOUT OUR TOYS?? - filed past over the umpteen Nativity scenes and kitsch Christmas
decorations, one could sense an evident contrast between the absurd myth of Christmas
plenitude perpetuated by town councils and retail, and the real sense of festive lack
being endured by many in crisis-hit Spain.

Indeed, workers on the demonstration spoke of a lean Christmas, while many were worrying
about their next mortgage payment. A further blow has been the cynicism of IMEPASI, who
still haven't paid their workers their annual Christmas bonus, despite repeatedly
promising to do so. They have also refused to open their books to the unions, who suspect
financial irregularities on the part of their employers and claim that the new redundancy
measures would make the remaining workers' jobs impossible.

The strike and occupation continues and you can keep track of it on Facebook (in
Catalan/Spanish): http://www.facebook.com/ImesapiGranollersEnHuelga

(en) France, Press the Anarchist Federation FA - Equality for all, to stop discrimination against gays and lesbians.

The proposed government legislation on the marriage of gays and lesbians led homophobic
all sides to express themselves by pouring their hateful and sexist. Homophobia remains
valid in France, where it is far from being a marginal phenomenon; proof: the suicide rate
of young homosexuals is much higher than that of heterosexuals. Some are subject to
"corrective rape" wipe suffer insults and rejection of their surroundings. ----Homophobes
often confused, deliberately or not, homosexuality and pedophilia. In the first line, of
course, waving fundamentalists of all religions and the minions of the extreme right which
simplified view of sexuality is only the complementarity between men and women for
reproduction. In parallel, their conception of gender relations is often rooted in a
division of roles according to sex.

However, we anarchists know that gender is a social construct that assigns roles to each
gender normed, themselves based on the patriarchal model.

Concerning marriage, no matter what you think of this institution, it is mainly a question
of equal rights here. We are not talking about religious marriage - we have nothing to do
- but civil marriage, which officials - or self-proclaimed - religions do not have to mingle.

When people do not enjoy the same rights as others, it is discrimination. For too long in
this country, people of another sexual orientation that the majority are the target of
discrimination.

The quality of education and affection children need not depend on the sex. Studies show
that children are not disturbed because they live with same-sex parents.

Make a link between disturbances in children and growing up with homosexual couples or
lesbians is the ideological stance. Most of the time, this opinion is based on religious
dogma. Moreover, this may impair the individual is a grow in a closed, folded on itself,
regardless of its parents.

Equality between individuals is the least we can require. It will be a vector of changing
attitudes to finally all remaining patriarchy, sources of domination and violence
disappear. Marriage for all, the right to adoption for homosexuals and medically assisted
procreation lesbians are making progress, and this even if the institution of marriage is
reproduction factor is a patriarchal model.

Law or otherwise, without the struggles against homophobia, backward mentalities can still
gaining ground. It is only expressing our solidarity and condemning all acts and demeaning
speech that we can make them disappear.

We denounce all about that prioritize people according to their gender or sexual
orientation. We demand equality of rights for all people, here and around the world.

(en) France, Alternative Libertair #222 - Nantes, European green capital: The ecological imposture (fr)

Perfect example of a green political propaganda, Nantes M?tropole was awarded the Trophy
for green capital of Europe, while the Socialist mayor intends concreted 2000 hectares of
agricultural land to build an airport in Notre-Dame-des -Landes. ---- The European
Commission accepted the application of Nantes to be European Green Capital in 2013. The
criteria are manifold: sustainable land use, nature and biodiversity, local air quality,
noise pollution, waste management ... With the construction of the airport, the
expropriation of peasants and therefore designed an urban development at the expense of
the environment, ecosystems and populations, this trophy received by the city is the green
or greenwashing propaganda. It represents an important policy issue for the mayor of
Nantes and its airport project on the one hand and the other hand for the PS and its
strategy of participatory democracy, to infiltrate and stifle protests.

Stifle protests

Jean-Marc Ayrault experiments and the limitations and benefits of this strategy at the
local level to better apply nationally. To counter any resistance, the council has decided
to release grants. There will be a call for proposals in the direction of citizen
associations for the island of Nantes, headed by the Samoa - the development agency of the
island of Nantes - including former President is nothing qu'Ayrault. Another trophy for
the " Nantes, European green capital "for which the municipality has a budget of 150,000
euros and a price of 5000 euros for organizations whose projects are selected. The media
will be present and the aim is to give the image of a metropolis green / green and make it
a showcase of participatory democracy dear to PS. This is to forget that the black dot
represents the airport Notre-Dame-des-Landes and Nantes presented as an innovative city in
terms of democracy, since has priori Hamburg and Vitoria Gasteiz (Basque Country), the
citizens were not associated with the dynamic " Green Capital "and the famous European
label was perceived more as a scam.

Collusion associations

Differences exist between the various environmental organizations Nantes. On the one hand,
those who want to participate in this call for project boasting to find a way to denounce
the airport are often dependent on subsidies granted by Nantes M?tropole (up to one
million per year and employees) . On the other hand, there are those who want to boycott
"call citizen" by refusing to endorse the greenwashing . For those who question the
construction of the airport, the challenge is to take this initiative to expose the
greenwashing and highlight the hypocrisy of the mayor who presents himself as a model of
sustainable development but concreted 2000 hectares of agricultural land 10 kilometers
from Nantes. The call for project highlights the collusion between the Socialist mayor and
a good part of the voluntary green Nantes which partly explains the weakness of the
anti-airport city. The opposition center at the airport relies heavily on the agricultural
sector and local residents directly affected (suburban communes, squatters ZAD). One of
the challenges is to mobilize the population more strongly Nantes still somewhat concerned
about this fight. Yet there is the historical example of the mobilization in 1997 against
the proposed nuclear power plant book, near Nantes, which had been abandoned, reminding us
that strength can continue to grow.

(en) International CGA - - IAL #93 - Turkey: After the release of the comrades, the struggle continues! (fr)

"Model for Tunisia and Egypt," "potential ally against Syria," Turkey is the center of
attention of the Western media. A few years ago, Turkey was the big bad wolf should not be
accepted in the European Union, "because Turkey is not part of Europe" (version geography
textbook from 19 th century), "because Europe is Christian" (version frankly fascist),
"because Turkey does not respect human rights" (version kindly left but not too much of it
...). What has happened in the meantime? Turkey she turned "heaven on earth"?! No, the
crisis is over there: the enlargement of the EU is no longer on the agenda (but rather to
avoid the explosion) and emergency social concerns all countries, including including the
richest. ---- In reality, while large French media praised the merits of Turkish democracy
and its "moderate Islamism" as a model for plans to build after the popular uprisings in
Egypt and Tunisia, the reality is quite different.

The AKP is a party popular in western countries for its economic liberalism. At the same
time, it is also a conservative party that threatens women's rights, Kurds and ethnic and
religious minorities (including halevis) or sexual minorities (LGBTT). Even if claims of
political Islam, the AKP largely met expectations politician-not-s power in Europe and
North America because it protects the interests of the economic and military power in the
region . And among conservatives, we get along well, whatever the color of their flag!

On the occasion of May 1 last, a procession was formed anarchist to display a radical
rejection of the capitalist state policies and oppose the search for economic and social
equality, freedom and practice of class solidarity . On this occasion, a few windows of
banks and multinationals were shattered. The State's response was immediate and completely
disproportionate: several alternative locations were raided and ransacked, 60 people were
arrested and, following this, 15 of them (6 of which are not even in Istanbul! ) were
imprisoned under the guise of anti-terrorism legislation (as proof? A book of Kropotkin,
anarchist theorist, found at home!). They and they spent more than three months in
deplorable conditions of confinement (isolation, conflict, overcrowding and lack of beds,
non-compliance with diet). From the inside, and they have continued to fight collectively,
including a hunger strike that has enabled them to improve their conditions of detention.

Mobilization was also organized outside with their supporters. In Istanbul, a group is
responsible for transmitting information to the anarchists and the world Istanbulites, to
raise money and organize events around the prisons. Solidarity actions also took place
around the world, including Germany, Switzerland and France (three rallies at the
initiative of the CGA were held in Lyon, Lille and Paris). In Paris, a manifestation of a
hundred people went to the Turkish Embassy to shout his anger and defend the freedom and
the release of the anarchists and all political prisoners. It is thanks to the
mobilization of locked-es and their supporters they could be released August 17-es. The
ridiculous accusation of terrorism but fell 9 of them already have a trial date (25
January 2013) for damage to public goods.

The fight is not over. Must organize solidarity to pay the costs of repression (lawyers,
potential penalties etc..). We must support the comrades who were pressured to prevent
them to express themselves and to resume their political activities. We must also continue
the fight against repression in general, as there are still thousands of opposition-es
(Kurdish students, communists, feminists ...) languishing in Turkish jails. Turkish state
continues to pursue a policy of state terrorism, as evidenced by the massacre Roboski
December 28, 2011, in which 34 people including 19 children were killed in a bombing. The
activists are imprisoned-es, es tortured, assaulted es fascist thugs physically
manipulated by the Turkish Government or by the forces of repression.

Faced with this, beyond borders, Solidarity is our weapon!

Rusga Libert?ria/MT ? CAB - Analyze Election 2012 for capital Cuiab? - Vote Null is our choice! (pt)

Again we come to yet another electoral period, 07 October 2012 and the choice of who will
be the next legitimate representative of "the people." Regionalism, belief, family and
many other values ??that are placed throughout the training period, since the bonds
created in society to formal education are used to demonstrate how "pure" and faithful
follower of the customs of the majority of society.--Cuiaba, capital of Mato Grosso, as
elsewhere, it also has very strong conservative traditions such moral sewn with a very
strong regionalism rooted in a massive show of faith and are of great value for the
majority of its voting body, so it is one of the initial tactics taken over by
professional politicians in this election period. The stage is mounted and the circus in
hopes of applause from the audience at the end of another show. So repeating the policy of
" bread and circuses " .

Again the games begin ...

There are six candidates are in the election by the city of Cuiab?: Adolfo Grassi (PPL)
without a coalition with other parties, Carlos Brito (PSD) coalition "Cuiabano Feeling"
(PSD / PCdoB / CSDP / PRTB / PSC / PTN / PHS / PSL / PTC), William Maluf (PSDB) coalition
"Cuiab? to You" (PSDB / PRP / PTdoB / PP / PMN / DEM), L?dio Cabral (PT) coalition
"Cuiab?matogrossobrasil" (PMDB / PT), Mauro Mendes (PSB) coalition "A New Way to Cuiaba"
(PDT / PR / PPS / PSB / PV) and Attorney Mauro (PSOL) without a coalition with other
parties. Even with six candidates, the competition is fierce between two candidates, and
these are two names that we'll get in this material, and Mauro Cabral L?dio Mendes.
Mauro Mendes is a businessman, owner of Bimetal industry that is the largest in the
capital and has also been president of Fiemt (Federation of Industries of Mato Grosso)
since the beginning of his campaign speech that is by being an entrepreneur and owner of a
large amount of financial capital has no reason to steal / divert public money that will
be used for the progress of society cuiabana. Mendes is the third time since the disputed
election in 2008 for mayor of Cuiab?, 2010 for the State Government of MT and now comes
back to the race for mayor of the capital of Mato Grosso for the next four years, 2013-2016.
L?dio Cabral is gazetted physician, professor of medicine at UNIC, a law student and a
member of the group Gra?na that operates within the PT and was for two terms as a
councilor in the Municipality of Cuiab?. The same was almost expelled from the party in
2008 for failing to support Carlos Abicalil in one of its electoral disputes, Abicalil CNB
is part of the group that also operates within the party workers, the group Gra?na (L?dio
group that is part ) sat down with the power to close CNB support and output candidate for
mayor of Cuiab? for the next four years. There is information passed L?dio that such
support could only be guaranteed by some benefits, which unfortunately we were not
informed for current supportive of his candidacy.
The two candidates who are seen as the biggest dispute in the numbers of votes have the
same historical promises to improve society, but at no time was witnessed position
contrary to all this privatization policy that has been introducing in the country. What
is clear is this: the first candidate mentioned is a businessman and this is clearly
advocating and implementing all the policies that will benefit your fellow entrepreneurs,
the second candidate will do the same, justifying the following improvements implemented
by the government since the PT their entry into the federal government.
What people can expect from all this? Who will really benefit from all this? Pantanal Cup
2014, public-private alliance within the public agencies to provide free service to
society and so many other things that will come back to this "great investment" profitable
for the shareholders. The population is once again falling into the siren call back and
only feel the weight of the whip after all this electoral process.
Trust this process will have major consequences historically bankrupt with the start of
the games world and more dramatically after this yields the "progress" that has been spat
on street advertisements and television.
Health, Education, Housing and the World Cup 2014.
Cuiab? as other Brazilian cities also involves the same race urban works (road loops,
transport, hotels, condominiums and cleaning the city putting far to the poor so they do
not cause a vision enojadora for tourists), readjust the way management public health
partnerships with PPP or via OS and there are rumors that there is also a project that
will be used for education in the same way that is being imposed for health.
Also the games are largely speculation of this whole process, there are several areas
where the risk of going through expropriation in order to implement a "social eugenics" (
poor cleaning company that is not part of the value characteristics for progress society )
removing the peripheral population of their place of residence and that too mostly close
to their workplaces. Within this speculative game the connivance of the judiciary and
public defender on housing issues are magnified by the result of corruption, where those
who can pay more concerned has won.
Billions, millions and millions of dollars are being removed from public coffers and
intended for that coveted football venture. Totally ignoring all mobilization which had in
recent months across the country, where all categories of workers and students were
claiming social rights and improvements in working conditions for civil servants in
Brazil. The health here in the capital is increasingly precarious, until very method that
can be expected to justify application of the PPP and the OS. The same practice has been
used in other public bodies that were here in town and the most recent was SANECAP will
privatize public company's capital which controlled the supply and treatment of water in
Cuiab?.
The federal government has already made an investment approaching the billions, or perhaps
already surpassing, for education of professional qualification. Where institutions like
SENAI, SEBRAC, CENAC and many others who work with this kind of "education" courses are
opening fully geared so that they can create labor-destined from the construction work for
the 2014 World Cup and during the period of his realization thereof. Money that could have
been designed to improve the state of public education, higher education and federal
government and also for the health sectors that are increasingly being harmed and harmful
to society.
To invest in the health and education of the population? A people without the ability to
think critically about your reality and his poor health is a people easy to be overwhelmed
and placed at the mercy of wills dominant.
The popular struggle is the path of transformation that we choose ...
Null vote and fight
through the resistance organization forged in popular social movements, through the
principle classist and combative by direct popular action guiding the construction of
People's Power.
We vote because we do not believe that Null representative democracy and participatory
said, where the population participates only when you have to choose who will be their new
oppressor and executioner. We believe in the direct pathway of representation, direct
action and popular and federalism as a method of organizing society, voting will not be
able to top that improvements to the bottom.
We believe that it is through Popular Organization of society, so horizontal, classist and
combative that we can change our reality and put an end to this class society sprouted
massive inequality and exploitation of the oppressed people.
Building an Other Campaign , organized under to pressure through direct action upon those
is our role, as our urgencies do not fit in the polls! Standing shoulder-to-shoulder in
social struggles is our role as anarchists with especifista method of organization, being
present as much as possible in every form of anti-capitalist struggle always with north
building a strong people who walk into the Popular Power.
There's dead who peleia! Dream, Fight, Build Popular Power!

Vienna

We demand that the Austrian Government

guarantees the right to protest, also for non-Austrian citizens;
stops any ongoing legal actions against people exercising their right to
protest;
stops all racist policing;
resumes the negotiations with the asylumseekers, which this violent
eviction was so clearly designed to interrupt.

We repeat and stand fully behind the asylumseekers’ demands:

1.) Grundversorgung (basic support) for all asylumseekers, as long as they
reside in Austria, irrespective of their legal status;
2) Free choice of their location of residence in Austria, and access to
public housing for all asylum seekers residing in Austria – no transfers
against the wishes of the people concerned;
3) Access to employment, educational institutions and social security for
all migrants residing in Austria;
4) Stop all deportations to Hungary – stop all deportations associated
with the Dublin Regulation 2;
5) Establishment of an independent authority for substantive review and
appeal of all negative replies to asylum applications;
6) Recognition of socio-economic motives in addition to the previously
recognized escape reasons

However, while the government has acknowledged the legitimacy of their demands, the talks have been fruitless as the government refused to take the necessary action to improve the situation.
The hunger strike
The days of Christmas, which so festively celebrate that Joseph and Maria found asylum in Bethlehem, have been a cold and inhospitable time for the protesters. As politicians joined their families, leaving the refugees with little more than vague promises of more talks, the refugees saw little other option but to enter into hunger strike.
Meanwhile, migrants have come to Vienna from all over the country, to join this protest and affirm the importance of another kind of politics of migration and asylum. Their demands have been echoed and supported: we have heard the director of Caritas as well of different union leaders affirm the importance of giving migrants the right to work as they seek refuge.
The eviction
Today, on the 28th of December, in the dark of the night, a large number of police violently evicted the camp. The frame of the democracy and community that has been built up in the cold winter month running up to Christmas was razed to the ground within few hours.
The politicians in charge have not only broken the talks, but chosen to penalize the act of protesting against the inhuman conditions that asylum seekers have to tolerate in Austria. Police registered the identity of everyone at the camp; people who were inside tents had to stand up in front of the tents, were photographed and filmed from all sides in most humiliating ways. The police now presses charges against 24, and two are said to be arrested because of lack of residence permit.
But people are determined to continue the struggle, with the church filling with ever more refugees and transmigrants every day - even if the support of the church and Caritas is very reluctant, at times blocking access to the church. Freedom of movement and protest are human rights – we support the important cause of migrant struggles and the brave acts of civil disobedience in Vienna and everywhere in Europe!
We demand that the Austrian Government
-      guarantees the right to protest, also for non-Austrian citizens;
-      stops any ongoing legal actions against people exercising their right to protest;
-      stops all racist policing;
-      resumes the negotiations with the asylumseekers, which this violent eviction was so clearly designed to interrupt.

We repeat and stand fully behind the asylumseekers' demands:
1.) Grundversorgung (basic support) for all asylumseekers, as long as they reside in Austria, irrespective of their legal status;
2) Free choice of their location of residence in Austria, and access to public housing for all asylum seekers residing in Austria - no transfers against the wishes of the people concerned;
3) Access to employment, educational institutions and social security for all migrants residing in Austria;
4) Stop all deportations to Hungary - stop all deportations associated with the Dublin Regulation 2;
5) Establishment of an independent authority for substantive review and appeal of all negative replies to asylum applications;
6) Recognition of socio-economic motives in addition to the previously recognized escape reasons

The remains of Alberto "Pocho" Mechoso were found on Wednesday, May 23. Founder of the
Uruguayan Anarchist Federation (FAU), especifista anarchist organization, "Pocho" was also
syndicalist Workers Federation of Meat and active militant of the Popular Revolutionary
Organization 33 East (OPR-33), the armed wing of FAU that supported the strikes and
performed kidnapping of bosses and expropriations to finance the fight. -- In his last
years of life, "Pocho" militated in Victory By Popular Party (PVP), an organization that
dissolved the FAU inside. "Pocho" remained with other colleagues within the FAU PVP with
intent to refound the organization especifista. Stuck in Buenos Aires on September 26,
1976, his body was found with seven others on the seabed, in barrels with cement. We
recall that companion without even having known that is very dear to us. Your example will
be present in our militant struggle, today and forever.
Libertad o muerte!
Ni olvido, ni perdon!
Hasta siempre, Pocho!

We reproduce below a translation of a fragment of the book "Direct Action Anarchist: A
History of FAU" and a letter written by "Pocho" before his escape to Argentina.
Alberto "Pocho" Mechoso - Extract taken from the book "Direct Action Anarchist: A history
of FAU"
ALBERTO "Pocho" Mechoso, Anarchist And expropriator
Born in Trinidad in the department of Flores. Ali did his first two years of school, then
it would continue in Montevideo. Could not finish elementary school. Family workers who
had insufficient income, learned to share the difficulties with his four brothers.
The family, tired of a situation that did not offer any possibility of improvement,
emigrated to Montevideo. It was a matter of trying his luck, like many neighbors who had
already left for this adventure. The street Ansina, in Palermo neighborhood, where he was
their first friendships montevideanas and immediately formed a group of friends. The eaves
of the School Street Gaboto witnessed some punishments suffered by responding to teachers.
It was quick and sharp for questioning about things he considered wrong.
Cerro and La Teja were the neighborhoods that saw him grow. Three brothers became
anarchists and libertarian in your home has become the subject of every day. Wondered, had
sympathy, his rebellious spirit the approaching this ideology that demanded justice for
the poor and not asked the knees.
Later he worked in the meat industry and during a long strike eventually fired. Then
marketer for a while along with some of his brothers. There was the FAU also had rather a
Grouping Anarchist-Cerro and La Teja also Athenaeum Free-Cerro La Teja. Military Youth
began in the Athenaeum.
Already ran over half of the 1950s, this time the work was scarce. The economic crisis was
beginning to hit strong at home workers. With a group of young people like him, friends
and each other almost every libertarian supporters, began talking about finances to mount
a cooperative work and donate a portion to the gleaming FAU. Finally decided to
expropriate a Bank of the Paso del Molino La Caja Obrera.
It was a careful job, studied in detail. They found a greater amount of money than
expected. They made the donation and left the rest for the agreed purpose. This was,
incidentally, the first bank in Uruguay expropriated.
A year later was arrested linked to this episode.
He was arrested six years: in Miguelete and Punta Carretas. Lia much in prison, for
example: "Nationalism and Culture" Rocker, "Life and Thought of Malatesta" of Luiggi
Fabbri, "The Revolution" of Landeur, novels. In a package, weekly received at least one book.
"- How are these fighters, they follow the background?", Asked for a visit in mid-1959. He
followed with great interest the Cuban process.
He left prison with more political training and immediately made contact with FAU.
Conversations began to define his post of militancy. Mauricio (Gatti) was the first to
think that they would incorporate it into activities like armed.
"Pocho" had quick reflexes, good treatment to accommodate people, youthful, rebellious and
determined, all this made him a natural. He liked jokes, played with serious issues, made
jokes about himself and engaged militancy. But this was accompanied by a profound faith in
what he did and true respect for the work. It was good operations but did not
underestimate anything, always wanted to analyze the details well.
Finally, was the formation of OPR, a key part of any organizational work and also to
encourage trust in comrades who were starting. Here poured his experience and his
decision. Integrated as charge, the first operational team when it decided to face the
armed activity in a specific and continuing. Performed at the beginning, with his team
precursor, bank expropriations decided by the Organization and which were vital to the
development of ongoing projects. After he served in various operations, including
retention bourgeois.
Aguilar was part of the [*] and his experience and steadiness were invaluable
contributions to this body that was responsible for armed action of the Organization.
Dropped arrested, was savagely tortured, resisted with uncommon integrity and alone staged
a spectacular escape from a barracks. Recovered from cuts on hands and broken ribs, and
FAU's decision, moved to Argentina. Ali was immediately reinstated activities.
Captured, again suffered torture at Pozo de Orletti [illegal imprisonment]. Today is one
of the companions who figure as missing. Pocho, his nickname audience, or Martin, his name
battle, always kept their customs, their culture good man of the people. Neighborhood boy,
good street, autodidact, reader, modest and with a deep sense of belonging to the lower,
left an indelible mark.
We know that (he shared it completely) are not the people themselves that produce the
development and retention of an Organization. It is an amount of effort from many people
that produces something fruitful. It is in this context that we point this contribution
militant. However, it is certain that in March of this set is indispensable companions
with exceptional contributions. "Pocho" and "Saint Romero" undoubtedly were example.
[*] The OPR-33 was organized in "cells" or teams of 3 or 6 people, two or three of whom
banded together to form units of work (operational, services or information). Aguilar was
the body responsible for articulating these units. (NT)

Alberto "Pocho" Mechoso - Today and Forever - Live the fighting!!

----------------------------------

Alberto M?ndez Mechoso (Pocho) 1936-1976

This letter was written after his stay in the 5th Artillery headquarters, barracks located
next to the North Cemetery, which fled. "Pocho" disappeared in Argentina as militant FAU
inside the sea militant who was the PVP 1976.
Companions:
From August 6 until now, I think I learned more, much more than I taught the 6 years I
spent in Punta Carretas; seem to have learned much more than I have in 35 years of life.
On one side is the experience within the Barracks, facing the executioners, compassionate
hands of companions. Moreover what happened later, from the outside. The night after leak
found myself on television.
Required by Me "is bound to ..." and on either side of one line that really had passed.
After new lists of demands. One was headed by my companion. Informed me that the house
where she lived with my mother, with my partner and my children was closed in custody
Joint Forces. I informed him that a military with several patents said that this house
would only be returned if I surrender.
And all that I live so intensely, are living it, one way or another, hundreds of thousands
of Eastern [Uruguayans]. Many small separated from their parents because they are trapped
or because they need to go elsewhere to seek work here that are not. There are many
mothers who do not see their children or because they are being persecuted because they
work from sunrise to sunset to help fill the pan. There are many women that the end of a
working life does not have a roof where shelter because they can not pay with their
pensions or miserable because the mind of the executioners rotten revenge on them the
rebellion of the children with immense affection that they were able to create .
And before all this, what other way do we have? Before all this, how worth living life?
There is one way, there is only one way to live without shame: fighting. Helping to that
rebellion extends everywhere, helping to unite and chased the man out of work, helping to
make the "seditious" and exploited workers recognize themselves as companions, who are
struggling to learn to face a common enemy. For all that, comrades, want me keep a place
for everything ... I will not delay in returning. Liberty or Death.
"Pocho"

en) France, Alternative Current OCL #225 - Portugal, Mobilization against austerity: When you lost all hope and patience ... (fr)

I learned the November 12 trip to Portugal Angela Merkel, not to go watch the Tagus or
listen to fado in one of every least popular of Lisbon - which in itself would not have a
greater impact the visit of any star in such circumstances - no, she went to distribute
good and bad points to the politicos involved in the "killing" part of the Portuguese
people. ---- These politicos to whom the German Federal Chancellor visited are on the
lookout, and for them, the crowds, and the tightening of hands begin to nothing more than
a distant memory. For these times, their main concern is also their own safety - avoid
getting squished by the wrath of increasingly fierce they say the people govern.---Wonder
how, in any case, that feelings and about anti-German, still isolated to do day in Portugal?

They are often a mixture of very bad taste and patriotism sovereignism, and we hear
especially in the mouths of some Communist Party leaders - just read the speech of
Jeronimo de Sousa, General Secretary, the party Party to notice: formulas as "patriotic
policy" or "patriotic government" back repeatedly. But if you rather lend ear to ordinary
mortals, comments are an expression of a different feeling, and imbued with a certain
naivety - as evidence that the German ruling with stiffness behavior could have a role as
an educator with local leaders, the population no longer considered as thieves - a term
well suited to the current power holders but also to those who held yesterday.

A brief history of the Portuguese austerity ...

The first austerity measures (after the fact, you can almost be seen as a light aperitif)
were announced and implemented in Portugal in May 2010. At that time the Socialist Party
was in power with his Prime Minister Jose Socrates, it is an increase in VAT to all levels
(the highest from 20% to 21%). At the same time approved an increase in the income tax of
1% for the lower tranches and 1.5% for others, and a surcharge of 1.5% for the companies
most beneficiaries. Passos Coelho, then in opposition and now prime minister, after voting
for these austerity measures, addresses Portuguese to apologize to them.
All this is obviously not enough (and I think here measures advocated in France by M.
Welsh!) in September of the same year, Mr. Socrates, who has very little of a Greek
philosopher, returned to the charge and announced a reduction in the salaries of civil
servants by 5% and VAT increase to 23% at this point in our history drama, no echo of
crying or some excuse from Mr. Passos Coelho measures are approved, and nothing is
settled. There must be a majority of Portuguese has not particularly benefited from the
generosity of the regime vomit what they have not eaten!

In March 2011, our socialist resigned Socrates and legislative elections are scheduled for
June 5, 2011. Come out victorious parties PSD and CDS, which form a coalition: the Social
Democratic Party (PSD), with 108 members, and the Democratic and Social Centre - People's
Party (CDS-PP, composed of Christian Democrats and nostalgic monarchy), with 24 members in
an Assembly consisting of a total 230 seats. And whoever is appointed Prime Minister is
obviously other than Passos Coelho - precisely the man who, one day, apologized for the
harsh measures approved. But what do you think happens? Of austerity, of course! Always
austerity. On June 30, our man in the country announced the removal of half of the premium
paid at the time of Christmas, and tries to justify this fact by the deplorable state of
public accounts. And is it enough? Of course not, the limits of austerity are impenetrable!

October 13, 2011, for fifteen minutes, additional measures are presented in Portuguese:
for civil servants and pensioners who receive 1100 euros and more, are squarely and
immediately removed the premiums for their 13th and 14th months for those affecting
between 600 and 1100 euros, the deduction is phased and will come into force during the
years 2012, 2013 and 2014. It seems that the Constitutional Court considers these measures
to be unconstitutional, but it keeps for budgetary reasons regarding 2012. Here we must
take into account the fact that the Portuguese minimum wage is currently 485 euros: the
addition of an amount equivalent to two months of additional wage does not really favored
them, as some insinuate ...

Also at the same time are also announced, to meet the requirements of the "troika", the
obligation to work half an hour more each day in the private sector and the removal of
four holidays (two of them being religious, he had the approval of the Vatican), and a
further increase of VAT to certain goods or services located at an intermediate scale. All
these measures obviously trigger several large demonstrations in Lisbon, where workers and
employees from several parts of the country come together to do this, but it does not seem
to shake the certainties of power and a clique who seem see the application of this
harshness the reason for his own survival.

And ... "solutions" to the current crisis

And here are the steps that will cause the biggest demonstration that Portugal has seen
since May 1974, shortly after the revolution known as the "eyes" on September 7, the
government advocates a radical change in the Unified Social Tax (1) . The TSU is the
percentage of expenses shown on a payslip: share of workers is then 11% and 23.75% of the
employers, the idea of leadership is to climb the workers and 18% lowering the bosses to
18%. An idea, I think, which aimed to improve the competitiveness of enterprises, and at
the same time to scrounge a few sous.
September 15, at the call of some thirty civil society personalities who accuse the State
of promote unemployment, precariousness and inequality, demonstrations took place in a
large number of cities in Portugal, and even to some embassies and consulates abroad. Are
estimated to have gathered more than a million demonstrators, which is about 10% of the
population. The slogan was "What emerges Troika, we regain control of our lives" - a
message very nice compared to what I've seen on a lot of signs, where the crudest insults
against political generally reflected the degree of anger. Our unspeakable leaders
accustomed to more restraint on the part of the population, the shock is terrible and the
measures are promptly thrown out.

But the story does not end, the European Union, the European Central Bank and the
International Monetary Fund are there to remind us.
To lighten the mood, I tell you the desires of a character ridiculous ridiculous Mr. Prime
Minister Pedro Passos Coelho, one day in July, during one of the rare moments when he must
leave the cartoons on TV and start thinking, is that the Portuguese have become couch
potatoes and unable to move and he therefore urges ... from working abroad! A wonderful
solution that seems set a whole bunch of problems, draining the country of its
inhabitants, so that only scammers, thieves and profiteers of all kinds who made ??his
fortune have the right to stay there, they will go with some boys look at where the price
of labor is very cheap. How can he open his mouth to recommend an exodus, this gentleman,
while we are talking about a country where the population growth rate is 1.3 children per
woman - and this is certainly not the current circumstances will make him reach the
replacement level of generations?

Back to the litany of austerity measures. TSU reform failed, we must present an
alternative, the Minister of Finance Vitor Gaspar splint and it immediately finds the
solution: we will use the income tax (IRS) by reducing the number of slices from eight to
five and increasing the average fee of 9.8% to 13.2%. Measures frenzy continues thus:
before we had time to understand one another is set up - all in order to reap the maximum
tax. But this time, the Minister Vitor Gaspar, sacrilege! also claims to pay the rich:
impose cars and other large displacement yachts, financial transactions, investment
properties high, etc.. I hope that the Minister is not becoming "communist", under the
influence of his cousin Francisco Lou?? - original Trotskyite and founder of BE (Left
Block) with 8 elected at the Assembly?

While unemployment now exceeds 15%, the memorandum states that the troika wage increase
(in fact, the minimum wage) is justified only if the economic development and labor market
pressure to allow Portugal to become competitive and if everything continues to move
towards the desired objective, which is to see the cost of labor in Shanghai and Shenzhen
exceed hers in a few years!
Even before all this stuff measures, however, the regulation of the labor market had
completely exploded, and find a job with a permanent contract fell within the feat. The
families of the lower middle class and even the working class, who have sent their
children to the University by making the most of the time, many sacrifices are forced then
to meet their needs for very long.

One of the fascinating things in our democracies, it is the perfect irresponsibility of
our leaders in the bankruptcy and collapse of everything they have undertaken for decades:
nothing is ever as it works it works, and after should not come to hold them accountable -
it is not their fault, never their fault! But they find an excuse - the difficult
international context, the crisis or whatever you want - it would be too easy, and it
certainly is not me who will give them absolution.

The union side, no surprise

Finally, a few words about the general strike and the demonstration that took place on
Wednesday 14 November. The CGTP - the largest union Portuguese, founded in 1970 and close
to the PC (16 members) - organized for the third time in a year a general strike followed
in the very public, transport, port services, etc. .
This plant does not like anarchists, Trotskyists nor, nor those who believe that without
bureaucrats and egalitarian society is possible, and she does not overflow, but times are
tough, and in Lisbon demonstration ended in front of the Parliament, with severe clashes
between demonstrators and police for more than two hours. The bombing of all kinds of
objects made ??by the demonstrators provoked repression by the cops with dogs and sticks,
it resulted in seven arrests and 48 injured. According to the police spokesman, it is the
cops who suffered from throwing stones, the ones with the wounded ... but maybe not
arrested? As the fight began when protesters remained in place, it is easy to imagine the
blows that brought the police on anything that moves, in fact. We can see from the
pictures many people face bloodied. Later, Young said: "We are outraged, and it was for
them to see that we have lost all hope, but what we have patience. '

But if the CGTP not like overflow or groups who do not share his views, she does not want
the police to attack the workers and encart?s doing picketed bus depots, this happened in
three or four places. Carlos also Arm?nio, Secretary General, he said that such actions
were unacceptable, and that sought to limit the right to strike, which proved that the
executive was desperate. The events and the repression that took place in Parliament,
however, he was not heard anything ...

Menu of the day, the large market background privatization

The Constitution established after April 25, 1974 spoke of a society undergoing
irreversible socialism and nationalization. In 1989, when is the Prime Minister
(1986-1995) the current President of the Republic (there since 2006, it does not legislate
or govern, but is living proof of a certain masochism on the part of the electorate!), the
Constitution was amended and the irreversibility of nationalization abolished therefore
privatization are required for the fix. According to the policy discourse, this will allow
the creation of large groups of healthy competition, inevitably, going to benefit
consumers in many other wonders ... It was during this period that the land is restored to
the Alentejo former owners, with strong compensation.

Portugal joined the EEC in 1986, the money comes in waves, but requirements accompany this
"generosity": the destruction of countless industries, including fisheries, agriculture,
forestry, etc.. Compensation are proposed for lifting or dropping of all that is not to
the taste of the EEC. I do not describe the tsunami of corruption of all kinds that
accompanied the boom years, the confusion between private and collective pistons,
well-paid jobs for politicians and their friends - should all pages of this journal extra
to go around ...
The socialists in power from 1995 to 2002 are not left out, and communion exactly the same
political line. From 2002 to 2004, the country was ruled by one who is now the President
of the European Commission, and in another life was a militant Maoist MRPP, I mean Dur?o
Barroso. It remained only two years at the helm of power, before resigning to go to
Brussels. He built football stadiums for Euro 2004, and in 2003 the same rehashed lies
that Blair and the Americans to defend shamelessly intervention in Iraq. He advocated the
privatization of absolutely everything - from water to the air we breathe. The EU has
loved it.

Today is the big clearance sale, you have to return the money, then everything is for
sale. Among the buyers, if there is still more or less from "classic" - as Vinci,
candidate among others to buy (ANA Airports and Air Navigation) - Two new investors with
many money and a lot of appetite in recent years came on the market: China and Angola.

The first is in the lead with 6 or 7 billion investment and the China Three Gorges, the
State Grid or oil Sinopec acquired significant shares of all that is related to renewable
energy and other fuels and their operating ports ... and soon - very important for Chinese
ports, with the expansion of the Panama Canal ...
The former Portuguese colony, Angola, whose owner is President Jos? Eduardo dos Santos,
also in his shop Portugal. This is especially the eldest daughter of President Isabel dos
Santos is in charge. The richest woman in sub-Saharan Africa is increasingly a major
owners of Portugal holding interposed: Santoro (banks), no Kento (multimedia), Esperanza
(energy and petroleum) and this ... likely to continue for some time, given the rate of
growth of Angola. This woman has spent $ 4 million for her wedding in Luanda, in a country
where 58% of the population has no access to drinking water!
