September 21, 2012. The Libertarian Communist Union (UCL), an anarchist federation in
Quebec that will soon be four years, held its third congress late last week Saguenay. The
participants of the three local collectives (Quebec City, Saguenay, Montreal) met to plan
the next year and reflect different concerns. ---- The conference was held in the context
of elections caused to end a six-month political and social turmoil triggered by the
student strike. Several lines of thought and action have been identified for discussion.
Given the enthusiasm that gave rise to issues such as the quest for legitimacy of Student
Associations on strike and their means of action, the media treatment of political
protest, neglected place of feminism in the struggle and the means used by the State to
de-solidarity, intimidate, suppress and pacify social movements, a campaign on the theme
of democracy was adopted for the next year. Tours will be organized in several cities and
publications on the topic will be published.
In addition to these concerns, the federation has decided to deepen its work on issues
related to environmental struggles, environmental and anti-productivist.
The growing sensitivity to feminist claims and practices also served to remind the
inseparability of feminism and libertarian communism - in theory, but in practice most! -
Through new internal practices.
The conference was an opportunity to reflect on the different avenues to promote the
participation of people interested in anarchism, including the establishment of a
status-es friend. The widening and deepening links with regional and international
organizations has also been a desire of people together-es.
Given the growing interest in new forms of organization and protest, solidarity and
dissemination of anarchist ideas and practices is essential. Fight against all forms of
