(en) Chile, Solidaridad* #14 - Mapuche conflict escalates 5 years after the assassination of Mat?as Catrileo (ca)

The Catrileo case, another murder unpunished covered by the State ---- Yesterday, January 
3, marked the fifth anniversary of the murder of the young Mapuche Catrileo Matias, 
occurred in the occupation of the "Fundo Santa Margarita", owned by businessman and 
landowner Jorge Luchsinger, located in the Vilc?n. Shot in the back after receiving three 
bullets from an Uzi submachine gun, by Corporal Walter Ramirez member of Police Special 
Operations Group (BEPGs) of Carabineros, Catrileo, went to swell the long list of social 
activists killed by police since the end of the dictatorship. ---- The investigation of

Another long hunger strike ...

Framed in the intensive campaign of repression and criminalization of actions and 
resistance of the Mapuche struggle for self-determination and territory has sipo promoted

punishment of Llaitul, freedom of the Mapuche political prisoners, including specific

over 50 days of fasting, the villagers have said they are determined to get to the end if 
necessary.

Arson attack cost the lives of two powerful family members

President Sebastian Pinera himself went quickly to the Araucan?a Region to reassure the

business associations, such as the National Agricultural Society (SNA), the Chilean Wood 
Corporation (CORMA), and even the Internet Corporation for Production and Commerce (CPC)
