(en) Brazil, Anarchist Collective Black Flag - Teachers across the country went on strike in defense of public education (pt)

Teachers from across the country paralyze their activities between 23, 24 and April 25 in 
support of the fulfillment of the Law Floor National Public School and in defense of a 
quality education. The mobilization has a large membership nationwide. In all, 22 states 
have joined the strikes. On April 23 (Tuesday), thousands of teachers in the state and 
municipal took to the streets across the country, demonstrating the outrage against states 
and municipalities that violate or distort the enforcement of national floor.
The fight for a national floor of the teaching career is a longstanding demand of 
Brazilian teachers and was conquered in 2008. Mobilization for making the law of floor 
calls into question any hope that the achievements will come only from the
institutionalization of people's demands.

Even the floor with national law, several governors, including the governor of the state 
of Rio Grande do Sul, Tarso Genro, who as Minister of Education promulgated the Law of the 
floor, filed the application claiming the unconstitutionality of the law that many states 
and municipalities do not would afford to pay it.

The immediate application of the law is not forced teachers and teachers from different 
regions of the country to remain fighting for the realization of the right won. In Santa 
Catarina, Raimundo Colombo government applies the law, it should be a floor, kind of like 
a salary supplement for teachers beginning their careers and receiving wages below the 
value of the ground. More than 60% of teachers who are in the later stages of his career 
did not receive the adjustment. Prevent distortion of the law and claim unpacking the pay 
scale of teachers statewide are the main guidelines of synthetic (Union of Education 
Workers of Santa Catarina).

Adherence to national strike in the state of Santa Catarina is great, most of the regional 
over 70% of schools are stopped. Mobilizations took place in many cities and the 
metropolitan area.

The Black Flag Anarchist Collective is supportive and puts up the National Strike in 
support of the Magisterium. We believe that the struggle and pressure from teachers is the 
only guarantee of compliance.
