(en) Brazil, Federation Anarchist Gaucha (FAG) Note of the Fighting Block For keeping Transportation 100% Public (pt)

We are a movement that does not originate from nothing, nor are new struggles we did in
previous years by reducing the rate. The block is formed by sector struggles of popular
movements, representing different ideological conceptions and value the unity on the
agenda shipping 100% public, respecting diversity and valuing autonomy and independence of
class. This year's Block comes with more strength and we manage forces from the streets
and popular indignation an important achievement to drop 20 cents unfairly charged in the
passage of the population of Porto Alegre. ---- The fight is not for pennies, nor only in
Porto Alegre since won a national character of mobilizations that surpasses the demand of
public transportation. Today there are more than ten cities that have announced rate
reductions.

We are now hundreds of thousands of people and we hit the streets of Brazil fighting for
our rights. The theme of the World Cup is already in recurrent manifestations. The same
mass of people questioning the transport model also questions the millionaires public
investments in stadiums, removals of families, the power of FIFA and the State of
Exception that will curtail the rights of the population.

However in recent months suffered a major assault by police against civil activists of our
movement, young people who are suffering investigations and charges for speaking in our
town. Police have charged more than 6 points. And the last event in which we have more
than 25 thousand people in the streets, we had 60 people arrested and dozens injured by
rubber bullets, bomb effect moral and tear gas, not to mention the truculent cavalry
protesters dragged through the streets of Porto Alegre. More than the physical violence
that broke Military Brigade also denounce violence and psychological torture that the
marchers suffered in police vans and police stations. We know that the police command and
its shares are under the political responsibility of the Governor Genro. The history of
criminalization unfortunately repeats itself as it was in previous governments of Yeda and
Rigotto.

We affirm that the vandals are entrepreneurs who profit exorbitantly on the right of the
people to come and go. Just as the mainstream media that promotes a speech criminalizing
those who dare to fight. Vandals are also governments that guarantee basic rights of the
people, such as health and education. As well as make use of a fake democracy to
accommodate the interests of elites and criminalize the right to demonstrate, freedom of
association and organization.

We strive for:

- 100% public transport, accounts of transport companies, free passes for students,
seniors, unemployed.

- For the immediate withdrawal of investigations brought against protesters.
