this is an email I translated for Tresor, activist in Morocco concerning the idea to collect money for the burial of a died migrant in Morocco and to organise a demonstration at the same time to denounce the police violence in Nador and Oujda and the undignified treatment of even the death. Hope you remember the prevoius email….
Hello evrybody.
If I allow myself to share this comments with you, it is not to contradict the ideology of some people and not to discriminate their thoughts, when they state „ we only want to act for persons who are still alive“.
Personally I cant value this remark which is not in favor of the action we are planning, our militantism.
This acion might have a diffrent meaning for some but I define it in this way: „to accept our suffering and to defend a real cause“. If you please try to know and understand the genesis and the reason of the arabic spring which began in Tunisie after the self-immolation of the young tunisian Mohammed Bouazizi (may he rest in peace) who killed himself because he reclaimed justice in front of a repressive and dictatorial system where the weakest persons just have no right at all.
This is exactly the same case in Morocco and its migration policy. Just have a look at all the reports of Médecins Sans Frontiéres about the moroccan policies and you will understand why this organisation choose to leave Morocco. The reasons are many and I allow myself to quote the most wellknown one: "the excess of human rights violations and in particular the ones of sub-sahara africans.“
But to read the diffrent reports is one thing, to live this reality on the ground is another and if you want to know more you can get in contact with Miriam, who was in the country just recently and can explain more.
We certainly have diffrent civilisations and cultures but our one is committed to the following: whatever are the circonstances, every died person has the right to a dignified and respectful burial.
As an illegal migrant and an activist I have the habit of denouncing all kind of injustice and abuse we are victim of and in this case the decease of our brother Bindi bébé Zachée.
The most difficult part is already done, because we achieved that his body was identified. Our plan ist o organize a big demonstration to denounce this incredible injustice and mistreatment only of subsaharan migrants because we are fed up with being tortured and buried like animals without any official institution even trying to identify who has died.
In the end I want to state that it is the unitiy which gives us strenght – so to realise the goal, that the corps of Zachée will be send home, buried in his home country and could be mourned by his family and friends which are very vulnerable at the moment – lets unite our forces, lets collect evry penny we can spend.
" no world without migration "
Best whishes
