Why would LGBT ally Jonah Hill let fly with a gay slur?

Jonah HillJonah Hill is winning points for what appears to be a sincere apology for hurling a gay slur at a paparazzo he says was harassing him. But the insult the actor hurled last week still raises the question: Why would someone like Hill, for years a vocal supporter of the LGBT community, use such a word? Even in a moment of anger?

Two Fla. municipalities extend healthcare coverage to workers’ same-sex spouses

FloridaTwo Florida municipalities have voted to extend healthcare coverage to their workers' same-sex spouses. The city of Lakeland voted 5-2 to add workers' same-sex spouses to its insurance plan, and Highland County defeated motions by two commissioners who sought to revoke existing coverage for same-sex spouses of county workers.

U.S. Supreme Court refuses to put same-sex marriage on hold in Oregon

Supreme-CourtWASHINGTON -- The U.S. Supreme Court is refusing to halt a federal judge's order declaring Oregon's same-sex marriage ban unconstitutional. The court issued an order Wednesday declining to block any new same-sex unions in the state while a federal appeals court considers whether an anti-gay marriage group can intervene in the case.

Minn. county issues more same-sex marriage licenses to N.D. couples

Clay-County-MNBISMARCK, N.D. -- Nearly two times as many same-sex couples from North Dakota have filed for marriage licenses across the border in Clay County than Minnesotans have. Deputy Recorder Lisa Kunze says 40 of the 68 same-sex marriage licenses filed in the county have been between two North Dakotans.

church-fileCHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Central Conference of American Rabbis (CCAR) and the Alliance of Baptists are are joining as plaintiffs in a federal lawsuit challenging North Carolina’s ban on same-sex marriage. The United Church of Christ filed the lawsuit in April, challenging the ban on same sex marriage, claiming the ban is a violation of freedom of religion.
