De Amerikaanse acteur en komiek Robin Williams is vandaag op 63-jarige leeftijd overleden. Dat meldt de politie in Californië.

Hij werd gevonden in zijn huis in het noorden van de Amerikaanse staat. De politie vermoedt dat hij door zelfmoord om het leven is gekomen, maar er is nog een onderzoek gaande naar de precieze toedracht.

Actor-comedian Robin Williams was found dead on Monday at his home in Northern California from an apparent suicide, Marin County Sheriff's Office said. He was 63.

The sheriff's coroner's division said it suspects the death was a suicide due to asphyxia, but the cause of death is still under investigation.
