World,Tell President Obama: Stop Agent Orange GMOs‏

http://www.foe.org
Help us get 100,000 signatures: Tell President Obama to stop approval of 2,4-D on our crops!
Dear ,
A few weeks ago, the USDA approved Dow Chemical’s “Agent Orange” GMO crops.
Dow’s new corn and soy seeds are genetically engineered to withstand massive doses of “Enlist Duo,” a new pesticide that contains 2,4-D -- a key ingredient in the toxic chemical Agent Orange that was used in the Vietnam War. Now, the EPA is now on the verge approving Enlist Duo for use on our crops.
Thousands of people like you submitted comments, but the USDA didn’t listen. So now it’s time to make President Obama pay attention.
Tell President Obama: Don’t allow 2,4-D on our crops!
The increased use of the pesticides that go hand in hand with GMOs has already had devastating impacts on our food system -- from the rise of superweeds to the decline of monarch butterflies.
Now, if the EPA approves Enlist Duo, in the result will be even more toxic pesticides threatening our environment, the safety of our food, and the health of people, especially kids and farm workers, who live in agricultural communities nationwide.
Enough is enough. Tell President Obama to stop approval of this “Agent Orange” herbicide!
2,4-D has been linked to serious health problems such as cancer, Parkinson’s disease, endocrine disruption and reproductive problems. It is highly volatile and even the EPA has acknowledged that it may harm non-GMO crops nearby. It can drift onto organic farms, killing crops and threatening farmers with losing their organic certification.
Why are we taking all these risks? So Dow can sell more toxic pesticides.
We need to get off of this destructive pesticide treadmill and instead provide support to farmers to reduce their chemical use through practices like crop rotation, conservation tillage and cover cropping. Also, we must support organic farmers that already use these practices. These practices are not just good for weed control, they also help improve water quality and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
We have to act now: Tell the president to put our health and the environment ahead of Dow’s profits and stop Dow’s “Agent Orange” herbicide!
