(en) ucl-saguenay Collectif Emma Goldman: Statement by the
anti-authoritarian group AK Thessaloniki on the Greek referendum. (fr,
gr)
Referendum on a past issue date, but before a real responsibility. ---- Today, our society
has to deal with an exceptionally critical situation. Government institutions are no
longer able to offer solutions to a crisis which, like a cancer, destroying the social
net, then it becomes clear that the survival of the system can only be achieved by
sacrificing the company itself. The situation created by the international financial
capital and reinforced by state institutions, leads to an accelerated pace in the
imposition of a continuous totalitarianism as the situation " exceptional " has now become
the normal state of new governance. ---- Greece is of course included in this experiment.
After disdainful deals institutions, Syriza government decided to call a referendum as "
way to continue the negotiations in a different way. " This proves beyond doubt the
failure in the attempt to reach an " honorable compromise ', which until recently was seen
as the best possible solution. Next stages of Thatcherite dogma "There is no alternative",
the imposition of "realism" leads to social passivity and an attempt to enslave life
itself. The "realism" of a continuing impoverishment, unemployment, not having hope,
abandoning hope to achieve happiness, war and repression are far from the sense of our own
logic . The Company needs not only to see what happens behind the closed doors of the
House of decision-makers, but to move to destroy them.
The dissolution of capitalist promises, the inability to create a discourse that gives
prospects the system, the civil wars that follow one another with spectacular ease and
generate the redrawing of borders and postwar agreements built on international
conventions all lead to the same conclusion: the state can not determine the rules that
govern our lives. However, it is the state that Syriza is trying to save, hoping to use to
do the same previously dominant ideas that have yet led to the collapse of the system that
made them grow.
Syriza is not trying to destroy the ideology of progress, it fully preserves the idea of
growth and wants to rebuild the productive capacity of the country, leading to a situation
that can have very questionable results.
The referendum proposed by Syriza has nothing to do with the principle of direct democracy
since they intend to use it to put more pressure on the European direction. The referendum
does not give the opportunity to debate, discuss, argue, all with the participation of
society. Instead, it is promulgated by the ruling power which raises the question
according to his own ideas of which the desired purpose is to reach a new agreement in
which the company has no role to play.
What we need today is a renewal of our devotion to the values of a different policy, a
policy for the social construction through direct democracy, self-organization and the
establishment of our own spaces that will destroy the idea that "there is no alternative"
and the need to blindly obey an infinite economy and without spirit. The new productive
reconstruction can not be based on the idea of growth, but on the absolute negation of the
capitalist model of reconstruction. Rather, it must be based on self-management of
cooperative structures and the possibility for each person to determine his own life. We
do not care about the money that will be part of a national awakening and of course we can
not support a currency that is part of the financial intrusion into every aspect of our
lives. We prefer to think of the change in his normal size, that is to say, as a trade
instrument whose main function would be to fill the social needs and the needs of physical
facilities.
Since we are part of a social movement to break with the international financial
dictatorship (who denies any policy idea to replace the management of monetary amounts as
the primary social relationship). It's up to us to participate in the research avenues
that will lead to a rupture.
Today, faced such conditions, we can not remain indifferent to the polarization that takes
place for the referendum.
On the one hand, the vote for the " Yes " is a trap leading to the rules and regulations
of the European leadership, setting a long-term slavery of a frightened society and
defeat, to whom we will soon be asked to wear the weight of his own humiliation as a new
regularity. On the other side, the vote of 'No' is limited in all possible options by the
government aimed at a new agreement, examples of which are already found in a document of
47 pages referring more to the transition to the prémâchée idea and worn at the slightest
opportunity of patriotic duty.
However, such polarization has already exceeded the calculations and the government's
intentions, and consequently, the question of the referendum. This total attack from
foreign management and the use of mass media as a ram to change the terms of the question
" Yes " / " No " to EU and Euro or not. All actions leading to the economic strangulation
were taken using threats and ultimatums on the adjustment of public finances.
Syriza government efforts to combine social needs with the powerful forces of money now
reached its limits, clearly demonstrating that " we can not hold two watermelons in the
same armpit " [1], as is said in Greek. You can not have one foot on two boats at the same
time as Syriza attempted to do during the years he was in opposition.
This Sunday, regardless of the outcome of the referendum and on the assumption that it
will well take place, the vote of 'No' is not as manageable by those who support it and it
can easily exceed calculations and intentions of the government. The fact they use and
include the vote of 'No' (an attempt to limit the possibilities) in terms of negotiations
with the European management demonstrates the great difficulty of managing the movement
supporting the vote " No ".
The polarization ensuing opens the way for liberation and the establishment of a social
dynamic that has not been scheduled, but can move in many ways the possibilities offered
by the social movements of recent years. These movements were suffocating far or took a
step back facing the representation of dynamic assignment and hope. The opportunity now
presents to movement the opportunity to take part in the battle not only symbolically, but
substantially, carrying autonomously and without bosses weight of responsibility for the
war against the totalitarianism of money, which for bosses is not only the commercial
value but the equivalent of human relationships and life itself.
We can not stay away or be neutral to opportunities for movements that come from the
polarization as we were, we are and will live wherever that is free, public and social
goes against the market and the state .
Anti-authoritarian movement.
