Dear friends,
In a few days, Italy could make a historic move for equality: the Senate is about to decide if ALL Italian couples – including gays and lesbians – should be recognised by the law.
But it won’t be so easy. Anti-gay religious extremists and politicians are on the attack, calling for lawmakers to vote against the bill. Our partners in Italy are fighting back tooth and nail, but in order to tip the balance in the right direction, they need people from around the world to back them up.
That’s where we come in. Prime Minister Matteo Renzi promised that this bill would be approved by now, and it’s the first time it has got to the voting stage. If thousands of us join together right now, we can make love win in Italy. Tell Renzi and Italian senators to wake up and vote for love:
Italy is the last country in Western Europe which doesn’t recognise same-sex relationships. This bill has been proposed before – and every single time, anti-gay opponents defeated it before it even hit the floor.
But now, we’re speaking up – big time. Our partners in Italy are organising marches across the country to support equality. If we can create a huge outcry online, our combined efforts could be enough to drown out those anti-gay voices and make sure this bill is passed once and for all.
So how about it, Luc – will you speak up for equality in Italy?
We've done this before: back in 2013, All Out members in France organised rallies in 16 French cities to support marriage for all, and members all over the world voiced their support online. Will you sign now and speak up to Italian authorities?
Thank you for going All Out,
Matt, Enrique, Kate, Lucy, Mathias, Oscar and the rest of the All Out team.
P.S. This Saturday, there will be marches all over Italy to support equality for all Italian couples – including gays and lesbians. If you’re around, will you come march for love and equality? There will be over 50 marches in different cities. Find the closest one to you here.
