Dear all, ---- In July 2016, a lot of activists participated at the NoBorder camp in
Thessaloniki, Greece. At the Congress of the International of Anarchist Federations, IFA,
we had the opportunity of recording a small debate about this camp between comrades from
different places: two comrades from APO in Greece, two comrades from FAO in Slovenia and
one comrade from FdA in the German-speaking area. ---- You'll find the audio (to listen
online or download in different sizes) ---- here: ----

When did you first become active or interested in politics? ---- Politics is something
that it’s hard not to have, especially living in Derry. Politics would always come up in
conversation no matter where I went or what I was doing. I always voiced my opinions and
had most people agree with what I had to say. When it came to doing something about it
like becoming involved and actually joining an organisation that was different. ---- Have
you been involved in other political groups? ---- I could never find where I’d confidently
be able to plant my feet and get directly involved. I had taken part in local campaigns or
actions on the edges to highlight certain issues around the town for a few years such as
Palestine, Anti-Fascist work, Anti-War and never missed a march if I could help it, along
with anything else that was going on at that time.
If not, why not?
No. I always had my mates in my ear telling me I was this or that, trying to convince me
to join whatever groups they were involved with, but after a while it always came back to
the same old thing. It was the way other groups organised. Whether they were socialist,
trotskyist or republican minded they all worked the same, from the top down. Even if they
said they did, they actually didn’t. Using terms like “grassroots” or “democratic” was
limited as horizontal thinking just isn’t practiced. The cult of personality is something
I don’t want to be engaged in at all, as I have seen how anarchists organise using direct
democracy and how working collectively is far more healthier than being led by the nose
all the time.
How did you find out about anarchism?
It was when I was reading about the Spanish Revolution and the international brigades
which included people from my own city who went and fought fascism along side other
revolutionaries at that time I found an interest and connection with Anarchism.
What about anarchist history locally?
The more I read, the more I could relate to it so I started looking into Anarchism in
Irelands recent history, to see where it all tied in. I found books written by Jack White
and Belfast born John McGuffin. White being one of the founding members of the Irish
Citizens Army and of course McGuffin who was one of the founding activists of the civil
rights campaign. McGuffin’s work in highlighting torture and imprisonment by the state
over the years is something I admire. The more that I read and heard about him and others,
the different anarchist groups at that time was equally inspiring. Particularly their
role in the civil rights movement, highlighting injustices and the growth of anarchist
politics at that time, I wanted to find out about how they organised. Anarchism in Ireland
has only really taken root from the late 60’s onwards but there have been times in the
past when people have been inspired by anarchism.
When did you decide to take the next step and become active in anarchist politics?
Hearing about the WSM (Workers Solidarity Movement) and their direct approach to issues
throughout the 90’s to present day pushed me to get involved if I was to start anywhere
there was no better place for me. I’ve been a full member now for well over a year and
have taken part in demos and activism across Ireland. It’s helped develop my outlook and
opinions for the better along with the friends and comrades I’ve made throughout it all
its been a great experience.
What would you say to others interested in finding out more about anarchism and who are
interested in getting involved?
To anyone who’s thinking of getting involved but doesn’t know how to or where to begin or
they are hesitant about contacting us, I would say just do it, you might actually find
what you where looking for all a long.

When anarchism was born, it was born as a borderless struggle and as a struggle for a free
world. From its inception as a political theory its proponents moved across territories to
engage in the struggle, connected with comrades, and fought alongside those who struggled
for liberation as virulently as they did. ---- In New York we struggle on the backs of
giants, yet still for a hundred years, against a massive state that never stopped its
colonial, imperial incursions. Rojava has pried open the hegemonic monster of the state
and illuminated the possibility of liberation in the struggle of anarchists worldwide; not
just anarchists but all those who feel the inescapable draw of a free life. ---- We are
here to say goodbye to Jordan MacTaggart (also known as Ciwan Firat). He was an american
anarchist and YPG fighter who gave his life for the liberation of Manbij: a key point in
the struggle for Rojava and a city under the oppressive rule of Daesh.
We salute you as a comrade who deeply knew the struggle we face here.
We salute you for recognizing the importance of Rojava in our international struggle and
for making the ultimate sacrifice to help keep the revolutionary struggle alive.
We will never forget that when you lay on that field injured, you asked those of us who
remain to keep the revolution going.
For the sacrifice you have made we deepen our commitments to the struggle here,
to fighting for the revolution in Rojava,
and to acting on all fronts of this battle with the dedication you have set.

Prisoners strike in the US on September 9 against the Corporate Factories Prison and the
prison system. Abolition Now! - Be atentxs, do not expect to see it advertised on TV .
---- Commemorating the Attica riot, prisoners went on strike throughout the country by the
end of slavery in prison and white supremacy. Solidarízate taking to the streets! ----
Comrades of Anarchist Black Cross in the US have managed to garner support and promote a
successful General Strike in US prisons on a date very marked as the September 9, the
anniversary of the Riots of Attica , which have already joined hundreds of groups around
the country, we have lost count. In addition they have done with a genuine anarchist
claim, as is its abolition, including in the debate the causes of its extensive use by the
system, their true motivations and proposing alternatives; justice and reparation rather
than punishment.
¿General strike in prisons? The prison system can only be seen as an extension of the
system of domination and exploitation, consisting of a deterrent and other coercive
structure. The situation of structural harassment of minorities, institutionalized and
widespread violence, and the peculiar judicial system have brought the level of conflict
to levels not seen since the 70s with the Vietnam War. With 2.5 million people treated as
a slave merchandise and suffering daily aggressions "Business Imprisonment" which are
forced to work. The strike is more than justified, as evidenced by the adhesion of all
types of organizations and groups to call .
*
Article Excerpt USA Incarcerated Manufacturing Corporation (Annarky's blog, 23/08/2016):
This article serves to remind us that there is a strike of prisoners scheduled for
September 9 in all US prisons, and why. Because of the atrocious conditions, injustice and
corruption of the entire prison system, this strike requires our support. Caging animals
is seen as something bad, but still human caging tolerated, why?
I doubt that the general public is aware that the so-called leader of the free world, good
"US of A", is also the leader imprisoning their own people. The US is world leader in
nuclear power and military power in general to quell any resistance to their hegemony from
abroad, but also has a brutal system to quell any resistance from his own people to the
tyranny of their savage capitalist system.
The US prison system is a corporate Money Making Machine , which feeds on the poorest and
most disadvantaged communities . The judiciary in the United States is part of that system
of corporate recruitment. Once incorporated in their cage workshops, you stay there for
years, you lose all your rights and you become a slave in one of the biggest factories to
make money for companies in the United States. No union rights, no holidays, no days off,
and there are penalties if you do not work hard enough.
Some surprising facts indicated by "Policy.Mic"
1. The United States has 5% of the world population, but 25% of the world's prisoners; It
keeps a percentage of black population live up to what he did in apartheid South Africa in
prison.
2. The total population of prisoners in USA reached the incredible figure of 2.4
million-an increase of 500% over the last 30 years.
3. One of every 108 adults was in a penalty or a prison in 2012.
4. One of every 28 American children have a parent behind bars.
5. At the end of 2007, 1 in 31 adults was behind bars, charged or released on parole.
6. Currently, 65 million Americans have criminal records.
7. There are more people behind bars for a drug offense than there were in 1980 for all
crimes together.
Corporate America seems more or less to have taken over the prison system and is using it
to make huge profits. It has nothing to do with punishment or rehabilitation, it has to do
with increasing the number of slaves and profit maximization.
The human rights organizations as well as political and social, are condemning what they
call a new form of inhumane exploitation in which there is a population of imprisonment of
more than 2 million - in black and Hispanic majority - working for various industries a
pittance. For the tycoons who have invested in the prison industry, it has been like
finding a gold mine.
- They do not have to worry about strikes or paying unemployment insurance, vacations or
comp time.
- All of its workers are full time, and never arrive late or be absent because of family
problems;
On the other hand, if they do not like paying 25 cents an hour and refuse to work, they
are locked in isolation cells.
Stay tuned, do not expect to see it advertised on TV. - 'Health and down the prison walls !!!
