Dear friends,
"50 less pedophiles in this world."
Those were the disgusting words U.S. pastor Steven Anderson used – in his church – to "celebrate" the massacre in Orlandolast month.*
If that wasn’t outrageous enough, Anderson is now planning to come to my country, South Africa, to spread his hate. But we can stop him in his tracks.
Thousands of South Africans are asking our Minister of Home Affairs, Mr. Malusi Gigaba, to block Steven Anderson from entering the country. If thousands around the world join in solidarity with our call, authorities won't be able to ignore us.
After the attack in Orlando, Steven Anderson said that "homosexuals are a bunch of disgusting perverts and pedophiles." His message is loud and clear.
We've seen how U.S. religious extremists have fueled violence and hate against lesbian, gay, bi, and trans (LGBT) people in other parts of Africa. We cannot let it happen in South Africa.
My country’s constitution is the first in Africa that guarantees the rights of LGBT people. And although that same constitution protects freedom of expression, hate speech is explicitly excluded.
Thanks for going All Out,
Hendrik Baird from Gay SA Radio, with the All Out team.
