Dear Comrades,
Hereunder you find the draft of a solidarity statement in respect of the arrest of the 2 Basques and the 2 refugees yesterday in Igoumenitsa/Greece. This statement will be presented tomorrow with as much signatures as possible from groups, organizations and single persons to the judge in Igoumenitsa. We hope to create in this way the necessary pressure for the release of the arrestees.
In the Basque Country as well as in Catalonia and Spain is already a bigger campaign on its way; see the petition at change.org: https://www.change.org/p/justicia-griega-libertad-para-mikelon-y-bego-31fc8ef5-bbd1-4a87-972a-fd6e4967dfab?recruiter=53162384&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=facebook&utm_campaign=share_facebook_responsive&utm_term=mob-xs-no_src-no_msg.
An article (Spanish) with details of the arrest is here: http://www.pikaramagazine.com/2016/12/dos-activistas-vascas-detenidas-en-grecia-cuando-intentaban-trasladar-a-un-grupo-de-refugiados-desde-grecia/
The video with the statement of the two Basques on their project of practical solidarity is on twitter at https://twitter.com/Hibai_/status/814059318823751680/video/1. You find it also (with Greek subtitles) on youtube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcXrYcdbRfk).
The hashtag of the campaign is #LibertadMikelYBego
We'd be glad if you could send us solidarity statements like the one below until this evening. We know that there isn't much time. But we hope to gather some statements until the 4 have to face the judge tomorrow morning.
Our mail address is: diktio@diktio.org. Please send – since there are problems from time to time with this mail address – copies to nsm_lomani@yahoo.com.
