Dear friends,
The suffering caused by President Trump's Muslim ban was felt within hours.
On Friday he signed an order indefinitely banning Syrian refugees and suspending the refugee program for 120 days; and banning people who hold valid visas, from seven Muslim-majority countries for at least 90 days. Hundreds of people in need of resettlement, or simply trying to return to the only home they know, are in limbo.
On Saturday, some of the first casualties of this bigoted policy were detained at U.S. airports.
Amnesty is fighting back. And we need your support to ensure that Congress halts this attack on human rights.
Amnesty is fighting this with everything we've got. Whether it's out in the streets, in countries around the world, or in the halls of Congress, we will be doing everything we can to block the Muslim ban.
We have allies. Senator Dianne Feinstein called the order "shocking" and "unbelievable." Republican Senators John McCain and Lindsey Graham said, "We fear this executive order will become a self-inflicted wound in the fight against terrorism."
But more senators need to speak out and many haven't. Every day they are silent, Trump's Muslim ban gets harder to defeat.
