Last month, rescue workers found Huggles wandering the streets of the Isle of Wight, Virginia. She was taken in, given a check up, and many of her visible medical conditions were attended to — but still something wasn't quite right. Weeks later, she seems to still be in so much pain. Vets finally decided to X-ray her. What they saw was shocking. Someone had used a broomhandle to penetrate her, and the plastic handle had broken off inside and caused a serious infection. For weeks she was living in discomfort and pain, unable to explain what happened. How could someone commit such a heinous act on another living thing? The person who did this is still out there, free to walk the neighborhood and threaten other dogs or even people. It is crucial that officials don't let this go, but instead find them and make sure justice is served. No one wants someone capable of violating a defenseless dog walking their streets.
