Soheil Arabi, the Iranian blogger, an anarchist activist who is detained in Ward 7 of
Evin's notorious penitentiary in Tehran, has started a hunger and thirst strike on
September 23 of this year demanding his basic rights. ---- In an open letter, Soheil said
he will continue his indefinite strike of form and thirst until his demands are met. He
went through a period of hunger strike for a few weeks, where his health deteriorated
severely. ---- The incarcerated Iranian blogger refused to be hospitalized, despite
attempts by officials and the director of the penitentiary to transfer him to the prison
clinic. In addition, Soheil was barred from receiving visits from his relatives because of
his refusal to wear the prison uniform. ---- Soheil Arabi has been in jail since November
2013. Originally he was sentenced to death, then seven and a half years in prison, for
"insulting the Supreme Leader" of the country and for "propaganda against the state."
Arabi is still facing other lawsuits over his activities.

The following is the open letter:

" Here, speaking the truth is forbidden. However, I am an anarchist and therefore I do not
obey prohibitions. I can not remain silent when I see innocent people being tormented here
in Evin's prison. Here, free thinkers are being punished for telling the truth.

Do not ask me to be silent. At that moment, being silent is the greatest of betrayals.

I do not cry for help in my situation. I'm on hunger strike to be the voice of all
innocent prisoners. I want our voice to be heard. I want to be the voice of all confined
free thinkers: Manoucher Mohammad Ali, Mahmoud Langroudi, Ali Shariate, Yousef Emadi,
Arash Sadeghi, Sovada Aghasar and other humans whose only crime was telling the truth.

Today, September 23, 2017, is the third year that my daughter started going to school and
is the third time I am deprived of being alone with her. I went from a hunger strike to a
hunger strike and thirst because I do not want her to see me in this prison anymore.

Sohel Arabi, Ward 7, Evin Prison "

How do anarchists engage with and influence wider movements and campaigns? --- Libertarian
Socialist Discussion Meeting --- 7.30pm Tuesday 17th October at --- The Regent Club ---
102 Regent Road --- Leicester LE1 7DA
So how are libertarian socialists involved in struggles? How can anarchists engage with
and influence wider movements and campaigns? Is it a matter of acting as individuals,
quietly applying anarchist ideas and principles in whatever activities we're involved in?
Or do we fly the flag, acting openly, publicly and organised as anarchists, libertarian
socialists, the Anarchist Federation?

little is known about the exact situation. It is clear, however, that a lot of money will
be needed legal costs, etc. Peike also needs some money to buy things like food, stamps,
etc. More information will follow at a later stage from the support group that supports
the arrestor. ---- See Free Peike website. https://freepeike.noblogs.org/ ---- And this

As of today the country is still waiting to see which major party Winston First intends to
support to form the next government. Many people didn't vote. The majority probably out of
sheer apathy or frustration. Anarchists also don't vote, but for different reasons. We
have an informed, positive motivation as part of a deeper theoretical commitment to an
alternative way of doing politics. Here is a recent discussion on the subject that
appeared on the YOUR NZ website:

*  CNT members participated in the Abrindo Fronteiras caravan that went to Melilla to
denounce the situation of the undocumented. ---- *  Two companions and a companion share
their experience. ---- The caravan Abrindo Fronteiras, which last July set out to make
people's freedom of movement visible, was attended by some of our affiliates and
affiliates. It also had local unions that supported the initiative or gave informative
coverage to this campaign. The caravan that included hundreds of activists from various
groups, mostly from the Basque Country, also had the assistance of activists from Castila
and León, Catalonia, Comunidad Valenciana and Madrid. Together they went to the south to
join with more participants of Andalusia and in a showy cast they passed through the hot
destinations where the immigrants who cross the strait transit.

From the firing range of the Bardenas in Navarre, through Madrid, Seville, Algeciras,
Malaga, etc., there were actions and activities demanding to consider the forgotten human
aspect of those who suffer at the borders. The caravan denounced in its passage the
deportations that are happening at a rapid pace, the restriction of freedoms and the bad
treatments that take place in the internment centers. The campaign warned of the inhuman
conditions of the inmates and inmates in the CIE[center of internment]of Algeciras where
countless institutional and social organizations are reported. In addition they showed the
terrible conditions of women messengers in the atypical trade that takes place in the
border between Spain and Morocco, where this economic activity is part of daily life and
where working conditions are extremely exploitative. To finalize the trip they met in the
greenhouses of Almeria, where it could not be otherwise, before the situation in which
migrant workers live.

The CNT as a trade union organization can not but be sensitive to the atrocities suffered
by the working class. Much work remains to be done to improve the decent working and
living conditions for these disinherited people who are trying to save their lives by
endangering themselves and by offering themselves to the illegal or illegal deals that
make them slaves of the first world.

We thank the compas who had the detail of transmitting their experience, especially since
they were able to do so with so few characters.

Rafa, from the Regional Federation Sul-Villaverde:  "From the caravan we bring a more
complete view of how migrants live on their trip to Europe. Sometimes we focus on the
concrete fact of the fence, the jumps, but there is a whole network of problems and
damages that suffer and sometimes are more visible, like the minors or the loaders. The
caravan is an action and an experience that benefits us all in every local job we do
afterwards. "

Bea, of the Trade Union of Graphic Arts, Communication and Spectacles of Madrid:  "The
actions of denunciation, observation and coexistence of the caravan have been effective to
understand the reality of the southern border, a cruel and complex reality built on a
context of institutional, racist violence and sexist where exploitation is the norm.
Another consequence is a specialized system of generating poverty and exclusion and
repressing its own victims. "

Carlos, of the Union of Various Offices of the CNT-Málaga:  "... It also served to create
networks between us and for many companions to approach the reality of the border, while
at the same time carrying out very positive concrete actions regarding the rights of the
loaders or the minors not accompanied. The general logistics of the caravan was very
effective. As aspects to be improved it would highlight the scarce or almost null
confluence with the social movements of the other side of the border. We can not fight the
frontier with effectiveness if we do not fight along with the social movements of the Rif,
of the whole Maghreb, of the Sahara, and I would say, of all Africa ... "

This year's London Anarchist Book Fair will be on October 28, Saturday, from 10:00 AM to
7:00 PM. Location: Park View School - West Green Road, London, N15 3QR. ---- Anarchism and
the Book Fair ---- Book fairs provide space for similar people to come together to
reassure old friends, make new ones, discuss anarchist and anti-capitalist things, and
start planning the future revolution. They are also one of the public faces of anarchism.
Anyone who is unfamiliar with ideas or who wants to know more about politics can join us,
look at books, sit and attend meetings, workshops and discussions, or just talk to
organizations and exhibitor groups. ---- It is also a space to challenge the bullshit talk
about anarchism by the media and our opponents. Book fairs are a small element in turning
anarchism into a threat to the present political system.

We need people's help to spread the event in every corner, every hole in London. If you
are new to anarchism, check out the websites and pages of book fairs. There are links to
anarchist groups and campaigns throughout the country, as well as anarchist book fairs all
over the world.

More information about the 2017 London Anarchist Book Fair is available at:

When the revolution of February 1917 broke out, anarchist groups were active on a few
large industrial sites such as the Baltic, Trubochnyi, Metallicheskii, Rousski Renault and
of course Pullovov. But they are far from being able to compete with the Bolshevik groups,
which have gained preponderance since 1912.

After the mutiny of the majority of the garrison, the anarchists gained an audience with
two regiments in particular: the 1st Mitrailleurs, hastened from Oranienbaum at the end of
February to defend the revolution ; the sailors of the Baltic Fleet, stationed on the
island of Kronstadt garrison, which the 1 st  March 1917 were by firing squad fifty
General Staff officers who had refused to join the revolution.
