As often in Seine-Saint-Denis, the grumbling is strong in this school year 2017 in the
educational world. A little more original, it is the lycées who lead the dance. ---- Since
the beginning of September, many high schools of the 93 have been on strike for several
days: Suger in Saint-Denis, first against the anti-union repression suffered by a staff of
the establishment, head of work Pascal Stoller, office following its participation in
major mobilisations last year. Utrillo (Stains) and Jean-Rostand (Villepinte) against the
abolition of the posts of maintenance agents under a single integration contract (CUI) -
and yes, the abolition of subsidized contracts does not affect (Jean-Zay (Aulnay)) against
the overstaffing of high school students and the lack of supervisors, Mozart
(Blanc-Mesnil) denouncing the material conditions of the high school,

300 more students without more resources

The demands are often the same from one secondary school to another and the observation is
divided: the Rectorate does not put enough human resources (teachers, supervisors) at the
disposal, and the regional council leaves the lycées rot, by disregarding the staff he is
in charge of (the technical agents), allowing the building to be degraded (which he also
has charge), and refusing to build in the department the necessary number of additional
lycées, already saturated. The consequences of these austerity policies for students from
working-class neighborhoods are immediately visible, so Mozart's Blanc-Mesnil high school
saw its baccalauréat score drop by 10 points while its enrollment increased by 300
students in two years without any additional means.

Faced with this, a mobilization with variable geometry, which poses different problems. On
the one hand, the intersyndicale fishes by scattered initiatives and sometimes
disconnected from the establishments. On the other hand, a framework of self-organization
emerges with several coordination meetings of the lycées mobilized, called within the
framework of the collective "   Touche pas à ma ZEP   ".

This framework resulted in more dynamic mobilizations, such as the morning of September
21, with a demonstration of nearly 200 people ranging from Sciences Po to the Ministry.
Nevertheless, the collective Touche pas à ma ZEP has become an exogenous framework for the
mobilization in progress, and more a real framework of self-organization - the militants
who animate it, well-known political activists of the North of 92 - have for them their
participation in the fight last year, but their lycées are not mobilized at all this year
! Under the guise of self-organization, the risk is not negligible that this collective
works as an alternative direction, disconnected from the real stakes of unity of the
personnel, and maintains in particular the division with the trade unions.

A dynamic that must be extended and amplified

In any case, this mobilization is very good news, and it is to be hoped that it will be
prolonged, amplified in unity and will contribute to an enormous mobilization of the
educational world, with the aim of reversing steam and build a vast movement for so much
needed egalitarian and emancipatory education !

Published in "Tokologo: Newsletter of the Tokologo African Anarchist Collective", numbers
7/8, November 2017 ---- Political fighting has destroyed the peace in Sebokeng township in
the Vaal. Politicians are using government resources for private purposes, and parties and
factions are fighting over which politicians get the most. ---- WARD 17 SPLITS ---- There
has been no peace in the Emfuleni Local Municipality's Ward 17 since the August 2016
municipal elections. Ward 17 is a ward in Sebokeng, and consists of Eskom Village, Hostels
1and 2, the Masiza Flats and other places, as well as Zone 20. Emfuleni municipality is
part of the Sedibeng District Municipality. ---- The African National Congress (ANC)
controls the Ward, but is deeply split. ANC members vote against ANC members, complaining
of a lack of accountability in the organisation. They claim that the people who represent
the party and the local community in the Council do not represent the majority in the
local party. This means the minority has the last say, with power and control over the
masses through its positions.

MAYORS

The local ANC is divided into two groups and the conflict spills over into the community.
The problem did not start in 2016. An ANC faction approached the Sedibeng mayor of
2011-2015, Mr Simon Mofokeng, complaining a Ward councillor was employing his siblings and
friends. The Mayor responded by dividing four projects in the affected Ward between the
two factions.

Mofokeng became Emfuleni Mayor later in 2015. In 2017, he was accused in the media of
spending nearly R2 million on KFC and Nando's fast food, and luxury hotels from 2011-2017.

RDP HOUSING

A public housing project was introduced by the provincial Department in February 2013.
This involved a massive contract to the black capitalist firm Malgotamishe Building
Construction.

In August 2013, when the project started, the Department of Housing established a Project
Steering Committee with different groupings, so the project could run smoothly and the
information flow to all stakeholders.

However, a section of the SA Communist Party (SACP) appeared on the scene, through the
African National Congress (ANC)-led Alliance. The Alliance is made of the ANC, the SACP,
and the Congress of SA Trade Unions (COSATU). It convinced the community that the
project's Community Liaison Officer (CLO) was only employing his friends, also pressuring
desperate women in need of jobs into his bed. They called a community meeting to complain
about the CLO, saying that they did not want the CLO because he was stubborn. They
complained about the employment criteria he used, without consulting the community leaders
or the Steering Committee.

After the dismissal of the first CLO, the SACP group used the community to appoint its
members the new CLO and the Local Development Officer (LDO). Then they forced new rules
onto the Project Steering Committee, which resulted in the project stopping for nine
months. Then the project started again, running smoothly for one year and six months,
until violence and hate speech came back, dividing the community again.

THE HOSTELS

The fight is over the houses, the jobs and the positions. An SACP person involved in the
fights said the old people in the area "must go back to the Eastern Cape" as they are
"expired." These are former migrant workers; going back means losing access to the new
housing in Sebokeng. The problems led to block committees disbanding, although block
committees are independent structures not affiliated with party structures.

Major housing developments started taking place at Golden Gardens, close to the Golden
Highway, around the Ward 17 area. The beneficiaries are mainly young people, who have
access to the new subsidised "RDP" houses. Older people and workers are refusing to leave
the old KwaMasiza Hostel, because it might be renovated and they want to benefit.

The Ward councillor is using his followers to fight for control of key projects: rival
groups have ended in hospital, beaten up by his group.

Cheap politics destroys our communities. We need something better.

Nazis, white-supremacists, "Identitarians", and other fascists are organising, becoming
more emboldened to attack members of our communities and spread hate speech online, in the
media and on our streets. In the US, the election of Donald Trump has been heralded as a
victory by right-wing reactionaries and racists around the world.[Audio] ----

---- The establishment of "Identitarian" and "Alt-right" fascism and has given a new
veneer to islamophobia, anti-queer and misogyny attracting young people to the ranks of
the fascist right. ---- This is being met with militant grassroots resistance at every
turn. ---- This audio is edited from a public meeting in Dublin in August 2017 featuring a
panel of US anarchists, some who had travelled to Ireland, others who have been living
here.  They talk about fascism and its relationship to Trumpism, the shape of resistance,
the tactics and organisation of the Anti-Fascist movement, and structural white-supremacy,
supported and embedded in the institutions of the state.

L. and g. of the ANC, Omnium and other similar entities that supposedly move the
independentist process, as well as political parties for a referendum that are sure to be
behind. What happened two days ago in Tarragona - and suppose that in many other places -
is a shame, to put it mildly. ---- We recall that a general strike (not an arrest) was
convened, to report especially police brutality and state actions. You who fill your
mouths of transversality, inclusion and diversity within the independentist movement, are
acting like true executioners, wanting to control absolutely all the expressions of the
people. You plan to channel emotions, feelings and ways of doing things. This fact would
not be new, it's been a long time since I try with your speeches of "democracy,"
"civility," "people of peace" and a few more nonsense, supported by the media, always next
to Power. Not all independent people have this way of thinking or conceiving how popular
responses should be. Luckily, the movement is very broad and not all are bourgeois who
have joined the car in recent years. But what has happened in recent days, and that has
materialized especially in the demonstrations of October 3, transcends the line of what we
understand as tolerable.

Who do you think you are to decide how to be a rally? Remember that the demonstration has
not been organized by you, or at least you have not organized it yourself. But, once
again, you've joined the last minute. This general strike and this manifestation was
called by trade unions, and especially combative unions, with the support of
anti-capitalist social movements (yes, configured by people that you would call radical
and unbelievable). and that has materialized especially in the demonstrations of October

decide how to be a rally? Remember that the demonstration has not been organized by you,
or at least you have not organized it yourself. But, once again, you've joined the last
minute.

In the face of the unavoidable and normal escalation of indignation and displeasure that
many people feel for the events that occurred in recent weeks (street identifications,
intimidation by the police, militarization of towns and cities, fires by the state ... )
and culminating on October 1st (theft of ballots and ballots, verbal and physical
aggressions, accumulated tension ...) you wanted to appease your spirits, you have decided
that the town begins to be uncontrolled, that there may be reactions that They do not fit
your social peace discourse. Before that, instead of accepting that the people are
sovereign (what you like to say), and that the reactions of the population must take the
course that this same population feels and decides, you have wanted to control everything
, once again. As if your mantra of peaceful people, from "hello Europe" - by the way, a
murderous Europe that once again ignores us - and not confrontation, it was the only valid
and accepted speech and vison to deal with the current situation.

The messages and communications that have been made by mobiles and social networks
repeatedly have to go peacefully, that the State seeks any excuse to charge against us,
that it should not fall into provocations, they have inevitably ended Sleeping among
people, many of them as you know very well and with that you play, unaccustomed to social
response and protest. And you intentionally put fear in people; People who, in recent
days, have been losing precisely this fear, have become empowered. Rarely have we seen
images of older people resisting the police, People outside of the revolutionary groups
facing repression, ordinary people cutting streets and shouting what is happening. But
this seems to be that you can not allow it, you can not allow these people "for good" to
radicalize, and begin to look like what I deeply love and fear so much. So you have taken
a step further, and you have started spreading the toxic message that anyone who does not
act according to your directions can be an "infiltrated", a "stirrer". We have been
receiving dozens of messages repeating this shit. Messages without any foundation. Running
photos of people cutting roads and saying that we take into account, surely they are
infiltrated, when this workshop roads and burning tires is the minimum and the normal in a
general strike. Criminalizing such normal actions in a rally like doing active pickets so
that the shops close the doors, stick posters in glass or paint the windows of a bank.
Arriving at the ill point of saying that no slogans are called against the police, that
this is also provocation. All the people who show these attitudes can be infiltrated who
want to bust the calls.

We have received indications of how to act if these infiltrates are detected - obviously
according to the criteria you have decided yourself - and even by passing a telephone
number so that the people who attend the calls can report the supposed infiltrated, just
like a witch hunts. This has led to such deplorable situations that the people of the
manifestation themselves believe themselves with the right to make you silent or pretend
you stick a poster. Let him point to you not to follow the slogans of going in silence and
raising your hands or showing any dissonant attitude with the marked one. Say you have no
respect; but respect for who? How can you be so perplexed that people themselves demand a
respectful respect, when they are not respecting that there is a diversity of ways of
expressing themselves and denouncing what is happening? And to finish the topic, there
were still messages from a supposed curfew after 9:00 p.m., to let the infiltrated alone
on the street. Perverting such strong expressions as a curfew seems deplorable to us, and
use them randomly and for their own benefit quite disgusting. In the case now, does anyone
believe himself with the power to decide when people have to leave home?

If there are people who believe that the way to respond to brutality is to walk silently,
wear white shirts in a peace sign or distribute carnations to the same ones that open our
heads, we will not share their methods, but we will never impose how they have to do
things, to attack them in the event of not doing them as we think, or lick them socially.

Do not expect that we all keep the smiles in front of the porras.

Infiltrated
