AMASSADA in Aveyron has struggled for years against the installation of a transformer Very
High Voltage (THT). This one should be built in a very small commune for very European
purposes of energy sales for EDF. This time it is the end of the legal procedure before
the start of the construction, with the procedure of public inquiry which will last from
November 7th to December 2nd. The collective organizes a big week of events from November
2nd to 9th to mobilize citizens, unions, peasants, inhabitants on the spot or far away ...
from the beginning of the investigation. Then a whole program will run until the day of
the departure of the investigator. ---- For all those who wish to fight industrial wind
and green growth, come and or support: ---- the website: https://douze.noblogs.org/ you
can subscribe to the mailing list of information: amassada[at]riseup.net

just watch their movie: https://vimeo.com/207707152 or at the bottom of this page
In 2009, RTE announced its intention to build a mega-transformer in the vicinity of the
village of Saint Victor to evacuate far away the electricity that the Aeolian promoters
promised to supply by erecting nearly a thousand of these gigantic industrial machines.
The mayor of the time gives his agreement on the sly, making the villagers fit, and the
mega-transformer project is validated on the place called the plain, in the heights of
Saint Victor. RTE probably thought that it would be easy ... It was without counting on
the mobilization of the inhabitants, the associations, the new municipal team and all
those who fight here and elsewhere against the sacking of our territories by the
industrial wind turbines, the lines THT and all these big projects imposed.

There were meetings, debates, evenings, songs, demonstrations, buildings, so many ramparts
that made stone after stone back the project. But RTE does not hear, RTE does not give up,
and it is preparing to launch their public inquiry, the last legal step before the
expropriations and the beginning of the works. But we are still there, and all together we
say NO, we do not want the public inquiry, we do not want the transformer. It is this
truth that we want to affirm, and we do not need a so-called citizen consultation to know
it. That's why we will do everything we can to prevent RTE from moving forward and doing
its work.

To answer this masquerade that would reduce us to statistics, we have chosen and life and
struggle: many appointments are already fixed, others will probably be added, the more we
will be, the more we will be strong. COME, it's not windy, it's time !

In the program:

To feed our minds and refine our strategies, 2 Nov meets with Yannick Ogor, author of the
book "  the impossible peasant, story of struggles  " at 20h in the village hall of
Saint-Victor
To publicly assert our opposition to the transfo, large gathering on Saturday, November 4
at 11 am place of freedom in Saint-Affrique (be careful ! It is well place of freedom and
not in front of the town hall as indicated on the poster).
to prepare, the 5 Nov at 16h, assembly of the fight with all its actors in the village
hall of Saint-Victor.
to "  welcome  " the investigator and denounce the masquerade of the public inquiry,
November 7 appointment to Saint Victor from 9am
To feed our minds and refine our strategies, Nov. 9 "  the imaginary networks, a brief
history of French technocrats  ", a conference terminator studies at 20H in the hall of
Saint-Victor
For the second coming to Saint Victor of the investigating commissioner, the December 2 "
pot of departure  " with a appointment to Saint victor at 9 am, rebelote we made bloc !
... followed by a big event in Saint-Affrique at 15h Place de la Poste, in connection with
all the collectives that are fighting here and elsewhere against large imposed projects.
To celebrate together the cancellation of the public inquiry for useless project, a
concert at the Amassada in the evening under the new halls.
Continuous all month, we will be present on the market of Saint-Affrique every Saturday
morning.

And we finish the construction started at the wind festival (plaster / blanket of the new
house and roof / cladding halls) throughout the month at the Amassada

We, the signatory organizations, share the concern about the situation in Catalonia, the
repression unleashed by the State, the loss of rights and freedoms that this presupposes
and will suppose and the rise of an old nationalism which appears again in a large part of
the Spanish state. ---- We defend the emancipation of all workers in Catalonia and around
the world. Perhaps, in this context, it should be recalled that we do not understand the
right to self-determination as understood by parties and nationalist organizations but for
us it is the right to self-management in a given territory. ---- Understood in this way,
self-determination passes more through the control of production and consumption by the
workers, for a bottom-up direct democracy, organized according to the federalist
principles, than by the establishment of a new frontier or the creation of a new state. As
internationalists, we believe that solidarity between workers should not be limited to the
borders of the state, so it does not matter where they are.

What seems really worrying is the reaction in the rest of the state ; the exaltation of a
rancid "Spanishism", reminiscent of earlier times, encouraged by the media and in keeping
with the authoritarian drift of the government, has been patent since the incarceration of
persons for advocating acts of disobedience or the application of Article 155 of the
Constitution.

It does not escape us that this nationalist upsurge lays the foundation for the next
limitation of rights and freedoms, against which we must guard ourselves. The vibrant
unity of the so-called "  democratic forces  " to justify repression augurs a dark horizon
for all future dissidents. It seems that the post-Franco regime that has governed us for
40 years, is closing the ranks to ensure its continuity.

This regime, which existed and exists in Catalonia as in the rest of the Spanish state,
feels that its own survival is at stake. Amply questioned and subjected to a deep crisis
of legitimacy, it observes, alarmed, the number growing from open fronts. To the threat to
the territorial integrity of the State are added the scandals of corruption, the loss of
prestige of the monarchy, the questioning of the restrictions applied to the population,
the discontent that causes slavery in the work due to the latest labor reforms, the
lengthening of the retirement age, the decline of pensions, etc ... The constant calls to
defend the constitution must be understood as the tocsin to interrupt this true
existential crisis which l 'assaults. The danger is that in this process repressive
behaviors - such as those that occurred recently in several Catalan cities - become the
norm. Or worse behavior.

Obviously we do not know in which direction the events will go. We will remain attentive
and attentive to what is happening, willing to defend the interests of workers throughout
the state. We will oppose with all our strength the repression and the normalization of
ultra-right attitudes, which we already feel. Of course, we will not let ourselves be
manipulated by the strategies of political parties whose objectives are foreign to us. At
the same time, we will not stop supporting the mobilizations of the working class when it
decides it, finally it's time to get rid of the dictates of political and economic elites
who for too long have been working to control the territory to serve exclusively his own
interests.

As union class qu'organisations, libertarian and combative, we are in the streets, in
demonstrations, as we have done in many other occasions, against repression, rights and
freedoms and restrictions against the corruption.

It may be that the crisis in Catalonia is the coup de grace of a dying state model.
Whether this change is solved one way or another depend on our ability, as a class, to
bring the process in the opposite direction to the repression and the rise of nationalism.
Let us trust in our ability to ensure that the end result is more freedom and rights and
not the opposite. We play big.

FOR RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS !

AGAINST THE REPRESSION OF LABORIEUS CLASSES !

The DesTerresMINÉes 35 collective formed to challenge the exclusive license for research
(PER) of Dompierre-en-Bretagne. Then, in front of the other centers of struggle, he
evolved towards a more global discourse and contestation. Back on this course. ---- The
PER of Dompierre was a mining project, led by the Variscan exploration company, which
concerned 17 communes between Fougères and Vitré (Ille-et-Vilaine), and which was stopped
in early 2017 (see interview ). It was mainly to extract tungsten, at the base of
extremely hard steels used in armaments or industry in general. Exploration consisted of
sampling with augers, holes, and sometimes shallow trenches. But in fact the minerals
present were already known after enormous research carried out in these zones by the BRGM
[1], until 2000. Officially, the reasons for the cessation of the project have long been
unknown despite requests for explanations addressed to Variscan or the State. But the
direct opponents and opponents knew that the company was in financial difficulties, and
that it had filed several applications for exploration permits without being able to
assume all of them. This reveals a disturbing aspect of strategy: exploration companies
are also testing the region's capacity to mobilize, social acceptability, and therefore
the possibility or not to impose new projects.

Red mining explorations in the west
Towards a radical and global challenge

The collective DesTerresMINÉes 35 had already formed an association, it could have ceased
its activity after the announcement of the abandonment of the project, but its active
members decided to continue the actions, mainly to inform the town halls and the
population. Then he set out to set up a form of federation of the various metropolitan
associations, but also ultra-marine (there is a catastrophic project in Guyana, with
several associations to challenge it). The initial idea was a mutual support between the
various struggles, notably for the demonstrations. The choice to unite several struggles
gave a real victory in Brittany: eight associations met in Paris on the occasion of the "
Mines in France   " day for a gathering in front of the school of the same name ; there
were the political leaders, the mining companies and the engineers, who were used to being
part of a community. The opponents have disrupted this meeting, and the media have reacted
(France Inter, Reporter, Le Monde diplomatique). This event led the regional council of
Brittany to officially oppose the revival of mining on its territories. In the coming
months, the association wants to continue in the same vein against the project to re-open
the Salau mine, which is the next major project.

Associations fighting mining projects point to significant problems, but they struggle to
get out of good feelings and enter into a more global discourse that would necessarily
involve a project of decline. If the choice to federate works to win, the radical
discourse is not unanimous, and some associations want above all that the local project
stops, without seeing beyond. That said, some associations of this type continue to
frequent the federation, since it works. It is at this point that the argument "   neither
here nor anywhere else   " must bear.

In the DesTerresMINÉes collective, it is thought that the revival of mining is the
consequence of a hyperconsumériste society, so it is the functioning of this society that
is to be questioned. The only answer is to think of another form of society consuming much
less. Only if the questions are really raised by the movement, the silence of the media
means that only a few dozens of individuals are concerned by the revival of mining. It is
insufficient to launch an extensive reflection in public opinion.
