Dear friends –
Amazing news: Australians have said a massive "YES" to marriage equality!
After years of debate, the government decided to ask Australians for their thoughts through a nationwide postal survey.
The results have just been announced – literally minutes ago – and there's no question: most Australians believe equal marriage is the way to go.
Momentum is on our side, but we still have big battles ahead. The postal vote doesn't guarantee anything – now we must push the Australian government to listen to their citizens and approve marriage equality once and for all.
Opponents are already pushing for watered-down legislation – we need your help to fight back!
Equality Champions are the backbone of all that we do. With your support, we're going to launch an aggressive, global campaign pressuring Australia to pass marriage equality once and for all. If we get enough support, we will keep fighting until equality wins.
Just look at what All Out members like you have already done to help us get this far:
- Thanks to your donations, we aired a powerful video featuring wedding photos from All Out members around the world inside Parliament, urging Australia to approve marriage equality.
- Fueled by your donations, we got the word out to the people of Australia's biggest city, covering sidewalks in Sydney with pro-equality chalk stencils and flew a giant VOTE YES banner over Sydney's skies.
- We worked with activists on the ground at Just.Equal, who took your messages of global solidarity and support for equality straight to high-profile politicians in Parliament.
But we can't keep up this type of campaigning without support from people like you. And we've never been this close to marriage equality in Australia, so we need your help now more than ever!
From the entire All Out team – thanks for all you do,
Matt, Sarah, Mathias, Igor, Sharifa, Leandro, Ifeatu, Devorne, Enrique, and Yuri.
