Lying about their killing spree: Your donation doubled

Rohingya families are counting on us.

Your gift doubled until December 31st.
Your gift doubled!
Dear friends,
Just last month, the Myanmar military had the nerve to release a report refuting the overwhelming evidence of its scorched earth campaign against the Rohingya people, a predominantly Muslim ethnic minority.
Amnesty has confirmed that in the past three months, more than 600,000 Rohingya women, men and children fled for their lives as the military burned their villages, raped women and girls and murdered anyone who tried to escape. Our crisis investigators have recorded countless stories of horror and Amnesty has used satellite analysis to track the growing devastation.
In its report, the Myanmar military claims,
“Security forces did not commit shooting at innocent villagers and sexual violence and rape cases against women. They did not arrest, beat and kill the villagers.
They did not totally destroy, rob and take property, gold and silver wares, vehicles and animals of villagers from the villages and displaced villages. They did not set fire to the mosques in Bengali villages.
They did not threaten, bully and drive out the villagers not to be able to live in the villages and they did not set fire to the houses."
These lies must be stopped. According to our team, the attacks were committed by the military and amount to crimes against humanity. Plain and simple.
The Myanmar military has made clear it has no intention of ensuring accountability; it’s now up to us.
Donate and keep our crisis investigators in the field. We will use the credible research they collect to:
  • Continue a wide scale media campaign to keep this tragedy front and center.
  • Activate millions of Amnesty activists to protest the violence and contact their representatives.
  • Pressure the international community to punish those accountable for the crimes by imposing an arms embargo and financial sanctions against senior Myanmar military officials.
  • Demand that Myanmar halt the restrictions imposed on international and local aid organizations that have deprived the Rohingya of food, medical care, water, sanitation and shelter.
We take no money from corporations or governments for our research and campaigning work. That’s why we rely on donors like you to fuel the fight for human rights. Make your donation go twice as far.
Sincerely,
Margaret Huang
