Your donation doubled
Dear friends,
When the president spouts hate and vilifies minorities, vulnerable people across the U.S. are in danger.
Last week, President Trump retweeted a series of misleading and overtly Islamophobic videos shared by the anti-Muslim group Britain First.
These tweets are just an example of President Trump’s pattern of stoking fear and emboldening hate groups. Amnesty has seen first-hand what can happen when governments encourage hate and fail to protect vulnerable people in other countries around the world. We will not stand idly by while the U.S. government turns its back on human rights and promotes an agenda of hate and fear.
Your donation — which will be doubled — will help our team:
- Advocate at the state and municipal levels for “welcoming cities and states” that ensure a safe space for immigrants and refugees, many of whom are Muslims.
- Advocate with national and local businesses to champion the hiring of refugees.
- Push three key senators to become refugee champions so we can have a Congressional counterbalance to Trump’s hateful rhetoric and actions.
- Showcase the voices of Muslims and refugees who are threatened by hateful rhetoric.
President Trump has made his feelings widely known.
Nearly a year before he won the presidential election, he called for a “total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States.” Several months later, he declared, “I think Islam hates us” in an interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper.
When governments scapegoat minorities, we must take action and demand justice.
Thank you.
