Reminder: Mother’s Day is Sunday

Tell the Trump Administration to Free the Berks Kids
Dear friends,
Mother’s Day is a time where we celebrate family. This year, we’re thinking about the families locked up at Berks County Residential Center. We received over 600 handwritten cards in 12 different languages from Amnesty supporters like you, which we will deliver to the families at Berks.

This Mother’s Day: ask the Trump administration to stop locking up kids and their parents.

Many children and families come to the United States of America seeking safety as they flee from violence and persecution in their home countries. But the government is throwing these families behind bars and locking them up for weeks, months, and even years.

Berks County Residential Center in Pennsylvania is a family detention center unfairly jailing children and their parents who are seeking refuge and safety here. Berks is one of three family detention centers in the United States. It’s the oldest of these “baby jails,” and a place where toddlers and their moms have been kept behind bars.

We need to keep up the pressure on the Administration: Luc, say no to locking up kids and their parents at Berks or anywhere in the United States of America for seeking safety.

Many of the families held at Berks County Detention Center are seeking asylum from extreme violence and persecution in their home countries. They only want to rebuild their lives in safety and peace. It is inhumane for the United States government to hold these families for months on end with no timeline for release.

Dozens of fathers, mothers and children are there now. Their so-called crime is seeking safety as they flee violence and persecution.

On Mother’s Day, it’s time to free #TheBerksKids and all families seeking safety. Join us if you agree!
