Instead of a wall, we need a longer table.

Welcome Refugees in Your Community Now
Dear friends,
Right now, people who have been forced to leave their homes need safety and refuge. This is a moment that requires all countries, including the United States, to protect dignity and fairness, and reject fear and prejudice.

But now, our country appears to be more divided than ever before. We must unite behind our common humanity to once more welcome refugees.

Refugees leave their homes because they have no other choice. They want the same safety that any of us would want if we were in their shoes.

This crisis can’t be solved by building a bigger wall. Instead, we must build a longer table.

We’re coming to you right now Luc because we know you’re an engaged online activist. We want to include you on a special project here at Amnesty International USA.

Here in the US, we’re launching our #LongerTable Initiative where we can build a movement of people uniting to welcome refugees in their own ways. Together, we can lead the way by doing something concrete to welcome refugees in our community.

Even the smallest action makes a difference in people’s lives. You might be just one person, but change starts with you. Pledge to build a longer table to welcome refugees in your community now.

The refugee program in the US is under attack. When intimidated by the state of the world, some build a taller wall; we build a longer table.

There are so many ways you can build a longer table: by calling your elected officials this week to share that your community welcomes refugees, hosting a potluck to connect with refugees and advocates near you, standing up against racist remarks or sponsoring a family who is being resettled near you.

Be part of the solution: sign this pledge now to help build a longer table and welcome refugees in your community.
