500 restaurant workers in London's Chinatown went out on strike on Tuesday July 24th 
against the immigration raids that are plaguing the neighbourhood. ---- Earlier in the 
month immigration officials raided the Joy Luck restaurants which triggered protests in 
the street with one woman lying down in front on an immigration van in order to prevent 
the officials leave the area with 5 arrested men. ---- The strike involved 100 restaurants 
with strikers then marching to the Home Office to protest the raids which are increasing 
in tempo. ---- This is not the first time that Chinese workers have come out on strike 
after raids by the United Kingdom Borders Agency (UKBA). A similar strike took place in 
October 2013. Workers in Chinatown are increasingly concerned about the raids and are 
fighting back. They are angered by the rude and abusive behaviour of UKBA officials.

In future Chinatown needs to become a UKBA free area. Any raid should be met by a street 
mobilisation of local workers and residents and their supporters. Rapid response systems 
need to be set up so that as many people as possible can be mobilised in as short a time 
as possible.

The Home Office is creating a hostile environment for Chinese workers just as they did for 
Windrush migrants. These foul racist attacks have to be met with mass mobilisations

The Melbourne Anarchist Book Fair takes place on Saturday, August 11 from 10:00 am to 6:00 
pm at the Brunswick Town Hall. ---- Everyone knows that there is something wrong in the 
world: from climate change to Donald Trump, machismo and racism to war and poverty. 
However, the people in power seem incapable, or unwilling, to talk about such matters, and 
instead are content to enrich themselves while the world is over. ---- Anarchism is a 
system of thoughts that identifies a common cause for the problems of the world: 
domination and social hierarchy. He advocates changing the system of domination by 
democratic communities of free associations, transferring control of the world from the 
hands of a few to all.
The Melbourne Anarchist Bookfair is a space for debating anarchism, both as a critique of 
society and as a vision for a better one. The event will feature workshops to discuss 
different areas of anarchist politics, booths of various organizations and anarchist 
groups selling books, zines, t-shirts and the like. Most importantly, space is a place to 
meet other anarchists and start working together to build a better world.

Meals will be available by donation and free child care will be provided.

The Melbourne Anarchist Book Fair follows the safe space policy . We expect respect from 
everyone, intolerance of any nature will not be allowed.

Workers at oil rigs in Norway went out on strike in July after there was no response from 
employers over demands for increased  wages and pensions benefits.
700 drilling workers came out on strike followed soon after by 900 more. Oil production 
was curtailed at one Shell oilfield. ---- In response the managing director of Maersk 
Drilling and negotiator for the Shipowners Association, Jakob Korsgaard, responded by 
threatening striking workers with the sack, increasing the chances of a long strike, and 
bringing as many as 35,000 workers out on strike. ---- Strikes may soon take place this 
July in the UK part of the North Sea oilfields, with workers due to come out on 3 Total SA 
platforms.

Report from the International Meeting of the International Anarchist Federations and the 
Anarchist Festival in Athens. ---- Since the last meeting of international delegates of 
the International Anarchist Federation (IAF-IFA) in London has been going on for six 
months, the time has come for another. This time, it was held in sunny Athens a week 
before the Anarchism Festival organized by the Greek APO. ---- Since our group has now 
managed to travel without complications and detention at the airport, we could have 
enjoyed the Greek metropolis. ---- Immediately after arriving at the place of 
accommodation, we were welcomed by a huge, terrible looking dog, as assured by local 
comrades, he was kind and friendly and certainly did not want to bite us, he likes not 
only the cops and the nuns. After seeing the house led by the youngest squatter, who 
showed us all the thoughtful security measures, we all fell asleep immediately. There were

for its numerous representation of anti-authoritarian people. This besides the unhindered 
hatred by the police forces means that the local anarchists have created space for 
organizing and creating a number of different projects. Our group was very interested in 
the squat Nosotros with a rather luxurious roof-top bar and cooperative pizzeria recently 
opened on the ground floor. Interesting was also an autonomous clinic (a real medical 
clinic, which includes a dental surgery) with an affiliated café and bookstore located 
directly on the square. It was nice to watch local comrades who are very lighted for what 
they do, and do not really care for anything.

And how does it keep working in the neighborhood without police? Just like anywhere else. 
Most people know that friends or random people on the street should not be hurt. At Night 
Exarchia we felt safer than the Night Wenceslas. And when someone does not respect the 
freedom and lives of others, it is properly explained, whether good or bad. Even in 
Exarchia, not everything is perfect, and for example, the police are making sure that drug 
mafia and similar affairs from all over the city are pressed into this free neighborhood, 
but local people are bravely facing the problems and trying to solve them.

Another amazing place is the Polytechnic University. We have not been able to find out 
exactly how it works, but it is clear that the students are under the control of the 
university. The huge marble complex thus became the venue for political events and 
students organized concerts.

In Athens, there are so many things that we have not even absorbed all of them. The day of 
the festival began and we drove across the city to Zagrafa University Campus, where the 
event took place. In the lecture halls, the Central Europeans were fond of us so much that 
we spent most of the festival outdoors in the fresh air. The lectures that we most 
enjoyed, however, have come to pass. We have listened to the Turkish comrades' story about 
local anarchist groups and projects, of which we are very interested, for example, in an 
Anarchist high school group consisting of people aged 14-18 who fight the absurdity of the 
school system and set up their own free spaces in which they are everyone is equal and can 
learn from each other. Also an interesting anarchist cafe was trying to work outside the 
capitalist system,

We also saw a film about Zapatista women, their movements and an international meeting 
organized by Zapatista women in Chiapas, which was attended by five thousand women from

And what did we get from the trip? Certainly a lot of memories, contacts, and lessons to
