Currently in Poland there is a discussion on the total statutory ban on animal husbandry
for fur. The draft amendment to the law on animal protection, where the ban on fur farming
has been enacted, has been stuck in the Sejm. The pro-minority organizations are planning
a nationwide demonstration in Warsaw, which will take place on 13 September . ----
Currently, Poland is the third - after China and Denmark - producer of fur animal skins in
the world. Production in 2016 was to amount to 8.5 million. skins and focuses mainly on
the area of two provinces: West Pomeranian and Greater Poland. Over 90% of production is
directed to export. ---- In the past, Poland was an important export in Europe of
livestock, livestock skins and pork. Central Europe also ran a trade route from today's
Russia to Western Europe, which very often outweighed the large number of wild fur fur
skins that came from the boreal forests lying in the north-east of the continent. Polish
urban centers - such as Lublin, Gniezno, and Poznan - brokered fur trade. Some cities in
Central Europe were also an important producer of furriery products during the "small ice
age" (1300-1850) - among others Leipzig.

Furry boom

Nevertheless, with the beginning of the development of modern agriculture, fur production
has never developed in Poland. They were raised at most in a small number of rabbits in
the convergence system. The first fur farms were established at the end of the 1920s.
Before World War II, however, only a few dozen breeders operated in Poland, when, for
example, there were already over 1,200 of them in Sweden.

Also after the end of the war, no importance was attached to this industry. It was not
until the mid-1990s that interest in it grew a bit, and the boom in the Polish fur
industry came as a result of the appearance of Dutch companies and NAFA (North American
Fur Auctions) representatives in the country. In 2009, NAFA put a large sorting of fur
skins in use near Goleniów. Another company investing in Poland was Van Ansem Group.
Currently, several farms of fur animals in Poland belong to the van Ansem family. The
Norpol company based in Zdzary near Goleniów is also associated with van Ansemami.
According to information from the company's website, Norpol "is the world's largest mink
skin processing center. (...) We provide services for many breeders from all over Europe
(Holland, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland), having
changed over 3.3 million for several years. skins seasonally. "

These investments caused that the Polish export of fur animal fur increased by fourfold -
from EUR 98.6 million in 2009 to EUR 402.3 million in 2014. At present, the number of
fur-eating carnivorous animals, mainly American minks (that is, not counting usually small
for herbivorous rabbits or nutria), can be estimated at 700-750 plants.

Protests against farms

With the increase in the number of farms and hide-away animals, an increasing number of
protests by local communities began to take place, opposed to the functioning of already
built ones and the emergence of new facilities of this type. The monitoring of local
protests concerning fur farms is systematically conducted by the Otwarte Klatki
Association. In 2012-2017, 141 cases of residents' objections were noted.

As in one of the studies, Mikolaj Iwanski (economist), the Supreme Chamber of Control,
after the inspections in 2011 and 2014, prepared crushing reports for owners and managers
of fur farms. In the document from 2011 regarding the area of the Wielkopolskie
voivodship, we find a number of data and conclusions indicating very serious negligence on
the part of veterinary services, which practically did not fulfill the task of supervising
fur farms. Only one of the 29 farms inspected by the NIK met simultaneously the
requirements of environmental protection, veterinary and construction. Almost half of the
farms inspected at that time (48%) operated on facilities illegally built or used contrary
to their purpose. 35% showed significant deficiencies in meeting veterinary requirements.

Very similar conclusions are drawn from the report of the Supreme Audit Office issued in
2014. The audit covered the years 2011-2013. The document concerns the whole animal
breeding, which breeding fur animals is only a small niche. The applications confirm the
findings of the previously cited document - government administration bodies are not able
to provide proper veterinary and sanitary supervision and do not have reliable data at
such an elementary level as the numbers of the farms themselves. With respect to fur
farms, 20 controlled facilities in 15 were found to be, for example, a violation of the
provisions of the Water Law Act, which means a direct threat to groundwater pollution.

Before the emergence of foreign investments in the fur farming, changes have been made in
Poland that have reduced the requirements for such plants. Only after some time the
Ministry of the Environment realized that eg dripping American mink farms, reserves and
protected areas wreak havoc, and the share of refugees in the population of this species
in some areas of north-western Poland is around 40%.

Most of the opponents

In a survey conducted by CBOS in February this year as many as 59% of the country's
inhabitants supported the ban on breeding animals for fur (the answers are definitely
supportive and I am rather supportive), and 31% were against the ban (in total, I am
definitely against and rather against); 10% of respondents answered it difficult to say.
In other national opinion polls, the differences between supporters and opponents of the
ban on breeding animals for fur were different, but in all the cases known to me, the
number of supporters of the ban was definitely outweighed by the number of opponents of
the ban on this type of farming. Also in local research - which I conducted - in
municipalities where there are many fur farms, the opponents of this type of farming
dominate her supporters.

Finally, it must be stated that farms cause a number of ailments due to the uncontrolled
development of fur animal farms in our country. The fur industry, headed by such
potentates as NAFA or Van Ansam Group, uses externalizing costs that are not covered by
companies, but are passed on to the whole society and / or the natural environment. The
state can not simultaneously enforce existing regulations, and often decides to liberalize
them under the dictation of breeders.

Today, it is difficult to estimate how large the externalised costs are. Odor and plagic
quantities of insects reproducing on farms, cause that the quality of life of residents in
the vicinity of this type of plants has been seriously compromised. Some say, for example,
that the market prices of their properties (flats, farms) are, on the average, 30-40%
lower. Therefore, they can not sell their possessions without losses and move - even if
they want to. This causes waves of indignation and social protests.

Finally, the last, but not least, the farm animals are kept in scandalous conditions, they
suffer only to be gassed and used for coverings, the price of which ranges from a dozen to
several dozen thousand zlotys on average.

On the other hand, the fur industry seeks political support among the far-right MPs and
priest Rydzyk, claiming that its liquidation will have a negative impact on the Polish
economy and local labor markets. Argument clearly missing and exaggerated. Missing,
because the entire mink farm in Poland is de facto subordinated to the interests of
international corporations. Exaggerated, because directly employed on farms about 3-4
thousand. employees, often on "junk" contracts and at the lowest possible rates.
Increasingly, it is used on migrant farms and migrant workers from the East - from Ukraine
and Belarus.

The question, of course, is whether the right-wing PiS government will decide to liquidate
the farms or whether it will "withdraw from cancer". The pro-patriotic protest organized
in Warsaw is to "help" him to make the right decision. It's worth considering whether to
take part in it.

Today, on the last day of the 6th Annual Week of solidarity with anarchist prisoners,
three banners were hung in The Hague, the Netherlands.
The last week was the sixth time that the international week took place in solidarity with
anarchist prisoners. With growing repression against anarchists in Europe and beyond, it
is important to continue to show solidarity with anarchist prisoners. Not only during this
week, but always.
Solidarity with all prisoners. Demolish the prisons.
For the anarchy!

Next Saturday, September 1, Radio Libertaire, based in Paris, will be celebrating the 37th
anniversary of its first broadcast. There are already almost 40 decades of libertarian
hopes, self-management, federalism, creativity and freedom of expression; powerful and
rebellious voice; spreading fights, thoughts and music from all corners and styles, except
military music and religious music. Next, we reproduced an interview that  ANA  conducted
with some members of the radio 17 years ago (2001), which is still current. Joyeux
Anniversaire, Radio Libertaire! ---- History of  Radio Libertaire ---- The  Radio
Libertaire  was established in 1981. Its creation date of May 1981, during a congress of
the Anarchist Federation (AF) Francophone, who decided to create a free radio in Paris.
Before the first broadcast in September 1981, anarchists had already taken part in other
radio experiments throughout France at a time when the state had a monopoly on emissions.
Earlier there was a movement where hundreds of pirate radios broadcast to challenge this
monopoly. With the liberalization of broadcasting, many radios were created, among them
Radio Libertaire . After the arrival of François Mitterrand (the "socialist") to power.

Initial project

At first we did not have a very elaborate project. The idea was to provide an instrument
of communication. We tuned the project already with the radio in operation. We only
broadcast a few hours a day, a few days a week. Slowly the staff was stepping up. The
sound system we had, for example, was no better than one we have at home. Little by little
the requirements have increased and we have improved the content and form of emissions. At
first the radio facilities were in a basement; today it is on the first floor of a
building in Paris.

How Radio Works

We are currently more than 80 animators and technicians working on the radio. Our
programming is very broad - programs on hip hop, soul, funk, african culture, immigration,
literature, Latin America, sexuality, esperanto, anarcho-culinary, anarchism, syndicalism,
feminism, experimental music, french music, etc. We broadcast every day, we stayed 24
hours in the air. All programs have full autonomy of technical organization and content.
There are four key stations on the radio: programmer, treasury, technical and public
relations. The role of the coordinator is to dialogue with the teams in case of problems
and to do what is necessary for new emission initiatives to materialize.

Volunteer work

We do not pay anyone to work on the radio, they're all volunteers. And we survived thanks
to the generosity of the listeners and a fund that is passed on to us every year by
commercial radio stations, that is, the retention of a small part of the advertising
revenue of these radios. Due to the lack of money, you can not measure the audience. But
we know that we are heard by many people, by the letters and phone calls we receive. The
radio only reaches the region of Paris, because the "public" permission does not authorize
the emission to other places. The power of our radio is 4K.

Problems with government

Today  Radio Libertaire  is legalized. But in 1983 we were banned from air because we did
not have authorization. It was a struggle of several months to be able to return. There
was even a demonstration in Paris with more than 5,000 people.

As part of the campaign "Enough exploitation for public money" of the Polish Syndicalists'
Union, construction workers have organized to fight for their unpaid wages. ---- These
employees worked in black for the subcontractor of the Real Estate Management Department
in the Warsaw Wola district, Edyta Lucinska. In 2016, they carried out repairs of
municipal and social premises. They never received remuneration from a subcontractor for
this work. ---- A lawyer cooperating with ZSP obtained a payment order for employees in
court, and after two years the execution was effective. ---- The case is important because
employees worked for the sub-contractor of the Real Estate Management Department without
any contracts. However, they managed to prove that they are entitled to remuneration for
the period worked. A spokesman for the District Office, and vice-mayor Marek Sitarski, did
not see any fault in the District's authorities in 2016 in the fact that the legality of
employment with the subcontractor was not checked.

ZSP demands compliance with social clauses in public tenders and the employment of
subcontractors' employees in a legal way on employment contracts.

You may have noticed that this year's edition does not follow fixed terms as it was with
previous ones. Even though we have slowed down and the deadline is not falling over us,
another summer number of the Anarchist Revue Existence is in the world. This time, we
decided to dedicate him to the 50th anniversary of the revolutionary events of 1968, as we
believe that it is an important historical milestone and, moreover, the anarchists and
anarchists at that time. ---- In the Czech Republic this year is traditionally associated
with the invasion of the Warsaw Pact troops. The 21st of August thus became one of the
feasts of primitive anti-Communism, so there is not much talk of what preceded this
invasion of tanks of "friendly" armies, what was the reform process then, and what were
the consequences of being actually top-down and many popular protagonists from the ruling
Communist Party could not meet the expectation in the face of the Moscow reaction. At
least, then, what is happening beyond the borders is at a minimum. At the same time, the
year 1968 shook the whole world, and it would be a great shame not to use the anniversary
and not to mention at least the most important events of this period. It is a good
opportunity to look at what was happening in different countries at the time of these
events in the longer term, whether from the point of view of social transformation, the
development of social movements, or influence on anarchist theory and practice. The year
1968, of course, in such a small format as our magazine can not be covered in full,
because it was not only a resistance to wars and a demand for fundamental social change,
but also the promotion of minority rights and significant shifts in the cultural sphere.

This is why we start with a brief chronological overview of the major events brought back
in 1968, which preceded him immediately and formed his context. In the contribution of
Vadim Damier, whose historical studies and essays we often turn to, we find the answer to
where the 1960s movement actually took place and what has been transformed in the coming
decades.

The events in France, with which 1968 is probably the most common, are given by an
interview by philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre with anarchist Daniel Cohn-Bendit, published in
May of that year, that is, at the time of radical students' clashes with the state power.
The difficult situation in which the French anarchist movement was the result of the rifts
that took place in the 1950s and its role in Paris May 1968 illustrates the translation of
the chapter from the historical work of the French anarchist Alexander Skirda. It also
deals with how the May events affected the development of the movement in the years to
come. And how Paris remembered the fifty-year-old events during this May 1st, tells the
members of the Anarchist Federation who went out to the French capital on this day to
taste a more massive protest than they are in our country, and a little tearful gas ,

You can also read a slightly optimistic article by Petra Rjabova about the development of
the anarchist movement after 1968, a description of student protests in Poland that was
then run by the Polish United Workers' Party, or an essay on the bloody suppression of
student unrest in Mexico in that time by the historian and political scientist Adolf
Gilly. Peteros Heumos reflects the Czechoslovak experience in his study of activities at
the enterprise level and the current article of the Situationist International on the
Prague Spring of 1968.

Since the main theme occupies most of the space of the magazine, there is a place left
behind only by the historical look behind the roots of the Makhnovian movement in Ukraine,
which did not come with Nestor Makhno, but was created by a long struggle against
self-deception, charism and local landlords. In the Anarchist Federation section, we will
introduce you to the Spring Summit, the meeting with representatives of the sister
federations in Athens and the book novels that our publisher has prepared for this year's
Anarchist Book Festival. We also bring a comprehensive report about it, as well as about
the course of this first May and about the actions of the anti-authoritarian movement in
recent months, where the Bílina mine blockade in the framework of Klimakempu 2018 stands
out in particular.

And finally, you can read the texts that appeared in the last five months in the A3 wall
paper and are devoted to authoritarian socialism, military aggression of Turkey in
northern Syria, defense of the ZAD Commune in France, the two-year anniversary of Karl
Marx's birth, and football. And finally we review various publications, this time to learn
about the philosophy of inequality Nikolai A. Berdyayev, the second number feminist
magazine Audacity , Pilsener punk zine Kawakami Rice , a book about the history of Czech
fanzines I scream: "That's me." Or the Czech mutation German radically leftist magazine
Sugar Street .

We wish inspirative reading.

August 29 in Poznan at ul. Saint Martin held a protest against the head of the restaurant
"Wanda's Cuisine" and "Sugomi Sushi", whose former employees and employees accuse them of
not paying their outstanding wages, not concluding written contracts, non-payment of wages
on time and intimidation. About 30 people took part in the picket, including
representatives and representatives of the Commission working in the IP Gastronomy,
working in other restaurants and eateries. ---- Injured by the head of the above
restaurants can be at least 23 people. In fact, he made all staff decisions and deals with
management in both restaurants, although they formally employed employees of various
economic entities. Claims of only 7 people due to unpaid wages amount to at least PLN
100,000 zl. These persons sent out final pre-litigation requests, which have so far proved
ineffective. Employees have proofs in the form of min. list of attendance. The Labor
Inspectorate notified by them was forced to suspend control, because - according to PIP
letters from April this year. of the injured party addressed to the lawyer - the employer
did not submit documents at the request of the Labor Inspectorate, necessary to establish
the facts. PIP wrote:

In "Wanda's Kitchen" and "Sugomi Sushi" some worked on contracts of employment, others on
junk contracts, even though the basis of their employment should be a contract of
employment. Health insurance contributions were not always paid. Salaries were not paid
out on time very often, and arrears were repaid in installments - according to one of the
victims: "Each of us was afraid that he would not receive his pay for hard work. I worked
until mid-March 2018, and I received the last payday for January, in installments of PLN
500. " Employees also claim that they have paid the goods out of their own money, and the
company has a number of debts to numerous entities, including suppliers.

When some employees in March this year made a termination notice pursuant to art. 55 of
the Labor Code in the event of the employer committing a serious violation of the basic
duties to the employee, their former boss replied with intimidation and insults, and then
began to avoid contact with the injured, not paying the dues. The intimidation case was
reported to the police. There are other victims who do not want to demand overdue salaries
for fear of the boss.

During the picket, all receivables were immediately repaid. Representatives and
representatives of our union who worked in other bars and restaurants also spoke,
underlining - as is clear from their many years of experience - the violation of workers'
rights in gastronomy is on the agenda.

In the context of the annual week of solidarity with anarchist prisoners, some anarchists
in Sydney visited the Indonesian consulate in Maroubra on Thursday the 23rd of August.
---- A banner is tied to the fence around the consulate reading: "Bebaskan Tahanan Perang
Kelas di Yogya" (Freedom for class war prisoners in Yogyakarta). Dozens of leaflets were
also distributed and scattered outside the embassy. ---- Anarchists in Yogyakarta has
faced a wave of repression following the 2018 May Day demonstration, which saw flaming
barricades in the streets, a police post torched and a call for the local Sultan to be
killed. ---- Dozens of anarchists and class war comrades were arrested following the
demonstration and number of them are still in prison facing trail. ---- We wish solidarity
and strength to all anarchist and revolutionary prisoners in Indonesia and worldwide
