Dear friends There's still a chance for Patrick to remain in Sweden! Patrick is a refugee from Uganda facing deportation because, according to Swedish authorities, he can't "prove" he's gay. More than 21,000 people have signed Patrick's petition urging the Swedish Migration Agency to stop his deportation. Thanks to their help, the Swedish Migration Agency has just agreed to re-open his case! But now, we really need to dial up the pressure. Dear friends, I'm reaching out because my life is at risk: I'm about to be sent back into danger because Swedish authorities don't believe I'm gay. My name is Patrick and I am a 20-year-old gay man from Uganda. I fled to Sweden after my boyfriend was murdered and my face was published in the largest national tabloid – just because I'm gay. Still, authorities claim I couldn't "prove" my sexuality – and I'm not the only one. Many lesbian, gay, bi, and trans asylum seekers are being treated the same way by authorities in Sweden. I don't have much time left, friends. Will you sign my petition and urge the Director General of the Swedish Migration Agency to halt my deportation and fix Sweden's humiliating asylum process for LGBT+ people? Since I arrived in Sweden, I have settled into life here. I am now in a relationship, have started playing football again, and even signed a contract with Dalkurd, a local football team. All this is about to be taken away from me. If I'm sent back to Uganda, I'm afraid they will kill me. The police will chase me, my neighbours will chase me, there will be no one to protect me. It's not just about me: if we speak out now, other LGBT+ asylum seekers could be spared such a degrading experience. With humane processes and training for Swedish Migration staff, people like me could have a real shot at justice when they're genuinely fleeing for their lives. Please sign my petition.
