Dear friends, Beulah the elephant has been on the road for over 20 years. In town after town, the Commerford & Sons Traveling Zoo has forced her to give rides to visitors. And when she doesn't behave, she is jabbed with a bullhook. Please sign this petition demanding that Commerford and Sons retire Beulah to a sanctuary. An elephant does not belong in any zoo, but especially not in a traveling petting zoo. Visitors have been known to pull Beulah's ears and kick her sides while they ride on her back. And because she spends all of her time either in a tiny cage traveling between cities or walking around a small enclosure with people on her back, she is not getting enough exercise. Beulah is not only unhealthy, she is abused. It is torture to poke and prod an elephant's sensitive skin with a bullhook. That is why the cruel devise has been banned in California and Rhode Island, and similar legislation is pending in other states. Yet the Commerford & Sons Traveling Zoo trainers have been documented using a bullhook on Beulah. Please help save this poor elephant from a life of abuse and humiliation. Sign the petition demanding that Beulah be allowed to live out the rest of her days in a sanctuary away from her abusers.
