Trans people are dying waiting for healthcare

Waiting times for national health support for trans people must be reduced, to save lives.

Dear friends,
Receiving specialist healthcare quickly may make suicide less likely for trans people.
The waiting time for a transgender person seeking specialist support from the UK's National Health Service is often unacceptably long. The BBC reports that the average wait from receiving a GP referral to getting a first appointment is 18 months.
That's why human rights activist Lily Madigan has started a Care2 petition. She writes, "Timely NHS support is an issue of life or death for many trans people. The suicide rate of trans people is high, and receiving specialist NHS support quickly may make suicide less likely for some trans people."Â

Please sign Lily's petition now to demand the UK's Health Secretary provide sufficient funding, to enable specialist services for transgender people, to reduce waiting times significantly.
Thank you,

Beth G.

P.S. The UK's National Health Service is struggling after years of underfunding from the Government. Please sign to show that you believe everybody deserves quality, timely and free healthcare. The Government claims it's time to end austerity. If that's true, they need to fill the funding gap in the NHS urgently.
