Trans people are dying waiting for healthcare

Waiting times for national health support for trans people must be reduced, to save lives. The waiting time for a transgender person seeking specialist support from the UK's National Health Service is often unacceptably long. The BBC reports that the average wait from receiving a GP referral to getting a first appointment is 18 months. That's why human rights activist Lily Madigan has started a Care2 petition. She writes, "Timely NHS support is an issue of life or death for many trans people. The suicide rate of trans people is high, and receiving specialist NHS support quickly may make suicide less likely for some trans people." Please sign Lily's petition now to demand the UK's Health Secretary provide sufficient funding, to enable specialist services for transgender people, to reduce waiting times significantly.
