4 Police Officers Indicted On Federal Civil Rights Charges For Protest Abuses



Four St. Louis police officers were indicted Thursday on federal charges that three of them beat an undercover colleague during protests last year. Charges for the four also included “deprivation of constitutional rights, conspiracy to obstruct justice, destruction of evidence, and obstruction of justice.”
The indictment says three of the cops, “expressed disdain for the Stockley protesters and excitement about using unjustified force against them.” in texts before and after the events.
After police officer, Jason Stockley, was found not guilty of shooting and killing Anthony Lamar Smith in 2011, there was tremendous out rage that sparked protests. Police initiated a brutal crackdown against the protesters.
Dustin Boone, 35; Bailey Colletta, 25; Randy Hays, 31; and Christopher Myers, 27, were indicted for deprivation of constitutional rights, conspiracy to obstruct justice, destruction of evidence, and obstruction of justice.
Dustin Boone wrote in a text to other police officers, “It’s gonna be a lot of fun beating the hell out of these shitheads once the sun goes down and nobody can tell us apart.” Myers also texted other officers, “Let’s whoop some ass.” 

All of the defendants were part Civil Disobedience Team for the St. Louis police, which led the response to protests following the verdict.
