States with all their ideological and repressive mechanisms, institutions with all their 
mediations, academies with all their science, religions with all their metaphysics, 
patriarchy with all its regularity, like any other aspect of the power a shame that defies 
our lives agrees: each of them is the deep expression of the national destiny. A destiny 
so fashionable and so conceived that in order to impose history as an "up-and-coming" and 
"true", it struggled over two centuries almost every corner of the globe, breaking the

Nations are born during the historical transition from feudalism to capitalism. Their 
"revolutionary" origins concern nothing but the transition of sovereignty and power

half centuries ago), a new cycle of submission, exploitation, deportation and 
militarization of the "below" is being opened. National ideals (re) produce and institute

masculinity, religion, diligence etc.) undermining the sharpening of social / class 
competition.

It is the pursuit of this conquest of the hegemony (or agnosticism towards it) which has 
allowed nations to form the imaginary substratum of every modernist model of power and to 
monopolize and encroach upon the social consciousness and the struggle for emancipation. 
The conquest of this power, as a stubborn end in itself, as a democratic quintessence or 
as a "necessary stage for socialism", shapes the analogous embraces with national 
illusions. Nationalist and internationalist perceptions, regardless of differences and / 
or coincidences in the management of power, are in fact only two of the basic ideals of 
"national interest".

Less than a year after the start of the criminal war against the canton of Afrin, the 
people of northeastern Syria are once again facing an aggression by the fascist state of 
Turkey and its Islamist allies. The threats of the Turkish dictator Recep Tayyip Erdogan 
are not empty words, they are not just electoral campaign propaganda and they are not mere 
provocations. With the assaults on the Maxmur refugee camp and several villages in Shengal

France is going through very important fighting hours. The French people have risen, like 
so many other times in recent times, to put a stop to the neoliberal advance. Now, an 
unprecedented move, such as the "yellow jackets," which emerged in response to rising fuel 
and its impact on rural and outlying cities, mobilized hundreds of thousands of people a 
month ago, blocking routes and developing action across the country. The summons and the 
most visible demonstrations were growing in Paris on Saturdays, affecting the tourist 
circuits, and registering a great number of clashes with the police. ---- It is that the 
repression was the only answer of the Macron government. Elected by many citizens as a 
"minor evil" before the advance of the National Front of Marine Le Pen, it is the direct 
representative of the great financial capital; more than that, Macron himself belongs 
directly to this circuit. And once perched on the government, it launched a new wave of 
neoliberal advancement with privatizations , lowering of duties and tax increases for the

combative sections of the CGT and other trade union centrals, along with the irruption of 
the student struggle, the movement gained a clear popular and critical dimension of 
government and crucial aspects of the system. The demands made on mobilizations and on the 
platform of struggle have broadened to include heavily tax increases on wealth, industrial 
promotion policies, and employment generation and wealth distribution.

This changed the attitude of the CGT, which, together with the other trade union centrals, 
called for a general strike on 14 December. For his part, Ménenchon is worried to get 
votes for these mobilizations to his party in the next elections, and his proposal is to 
lower the decibels of the fight and to channel it through institutional routes. But this 
does not seem easy, because the movement has multiple spokesmen and various nuances that 
enrich it, and this is precisely what happens in the various pickets and demonstrations.

But this clearly popular movement has massified and sustained an important level of

Lowell May passed on Dec 19th. He was a long time IWW member member in Denver,CO and a 
good friend to many of us. Lowell grew up in Iowa where he got his law degree but worked 
as a union man for International Harvester before moving to Denver. He was a member of the 
Sojourner Truth organization before becoming a Wobbly till his death. He was always 
someone you could count on for help as when he and Ward Churchill ( with others) faced 
down a group of Nazis outside of Denver years ago. Lowell moved to a anti authoritarian 
position and worked tirelessly against vanguard people's attempts to take over the IWW's 
Denver branch. I will miss his quick wit as he would zing you in a second with a funny 
this or that. Rest In Peace brother you will be missed! In Solidarity, your brother Bob
