Detained Moscow State University Mechanics and Mathematics Grad Student ---- Tells Lawyer
Security Forces Beat Him ---- Defense lawyer Svetlana Sidorkina reported to Mediazona that
Azat Miftakhov, a graduate student in the mechanics and mathematics department at Moscow
State University, told her he was beaten by security forces officers after they detained
him. ---- "In the office[at the Balashikha police station - Mediazona]where he was held,
they demanded he confess and were upset he asked to call family members or a lawyer. As he
told me, one of the officers pressed an object that appeared to be a screwdriver to his
chest and said he would use it if[Miftakhov]did not do as they asked," Sidorkina told us.
"Then he was beaten on the arms and face. As[Miftakhov]said, they kicked and punched him
in the chest. But there were no visible injuries.
Then[one of the security forces officers] wanted to stick the screwdriver in his
anus.[Miftakhov]took the threat seriously, but [the officers]did nothing.
Ultimately,[Miftakhov]did not tell them anything nor did he sign a confession," said
Sidorkina.
She noted that, aside from a bruise on Azat's ear and a mark made by the
screwdriver, there were no visible injuries on his body.
Miftakhov did not know what security agency the men who beat him
represented.
Sidorkina added that Miftakhov was detained as part of an investigation
into a violation of Russian Criminal Code Article 223.1 Part 1 (illegal
manufacture of explosives).
According to Sidorkina, Miftakhov was detained on the morning of
February 1. After his dwelling was searched, he was delivered to the
Balashikha police station. In the evening, after he was interrogated by
security services officers, he was taken to hospital, where he was
treated for abrasions from the screwdriver and injected with a sedative.
He was driven back to the police station, but held in the car until
three in the morning.
Sidorkina suspects the security forces did not know how to charge the
detained graduate student.
Ultimately, Miftakhov was placed in a room for people detained on
administrative charges in the Balashikha police station's other
building, which houses its investigative department.
On the morning of February 2, however, he was taken back to the first
building. According to Miftakhov, he was held in a office there for the
entire day, but he was handcuffed. Around seven o'clock in the evening,
he was driven back to the Balashikha police station's investigative
department, where the written record of his detention was read out to him.
At least eleven other people were detained as part of the explosives
investigation. Except for Miftakhov, all of them have been released.
Mediazona has spoken with six of the former detainees. Daniil Galkin
told us that, after the search, FSB officers tortured him with a taser
and tried to force him into testifying against Miftakhov and doing n
interview with a news crew from Channel One.

"No one in the world, no one in history, has achieved freedom by appealing to the moral
sense of his oppressor" - Assata Shakur ---- Another electoral farce is over. This time,
with large national and state victories for a fascist gang, actively fostered by the
reformism of the institutional left. The reformists have defended their much-loved
bourgeois democracy by tooth and nail, but they also have sabotaged and hindered people's
struggles, for the last two decades, from their thrones as managers of Brazilian
capitalism. The Labor Party (PT) governments, which oscillated between social democracy
and neoliberalism, brought frustration and disgust to the people. Added to this, the empty
promises and these governments' chasm between discourse and action, have led parts of the
working class to delude themselves with an openly authoritarian and elitist alternative.
But this road is too well travelled and it leads only to the precipice. Fortunately,
reality is more complex and fruitful than what is being parroted by those donning the
masks of the friendliest of humanisms, while effectively acting to shield the bourgeoisie off.
Hatred of the class-conciliation policy of the PT, added to a kind of festive inertia,
touted as "criticism" of the electoral reformism of the "left", have paved the way for a
fake polarization between political forces. This division is behind several episodes of
violence among the population. Its second round was characterised by the worsening and
expansion of this violence. As in the murder of Mestre Moa, in Salvador - BA, by a
Bolsonaro supporter; in the assasination of Charlione in Pacajus, in the interior of the
state of Ceará, during a pro-Haddad demonstration; and in the death of Priscila, a
transgender woman, murdered in the name of Bolsonaro.
As a response, the electoral left emptied the contradiction between capital and labour, as
redefined by the aggravation of the neoliberal project in Brazil, of any meaning. It
reinforced, in the most grotesque and reactionary way, the false polarization between
candidates. It shifted the root of the problem and turned it into a question of knowing
whose turn it was to be the manager. Even worse, it blamed it's defeat on the people!
Haddad and Manuela (running mate from the Communist Party of Brazil) tried to make
agreements that could win them some votes with a number of sectors. They went as far as to
negotiate "appropriate behaviour guidelines" with the feminist movement.
In their propaganda, a pacifist meaning of the word "love" was abused and misused. It was
opposed to what was referred to, in general terms, as "hate speech". By doing so, they
mixed the prejudices of Brazilian society together with the understandable anger of the
people, due to the extreme worsening of living conditions in recent years. Reformists are
so confident that they are on the side of "love", that they fail to perceive any political
intent in abstention. But the truth is that the "unvotes" (invalid, blanks and votes that
were not casted) represented 42.1 million voters. It was one of the largest abstentions in
history in the second round of a presidential election. This large figure, despite the
polarization brought about by the opposition to the PT and by despair, is no coincidence.
It reflects the dissatisfaction that millions feel towards the very political model that's
being applied in Brazil. It also shows that a large part of the people harbor no illusions
about the next oppressor that will hold the position of President of the Republic.
The election-mongers in the left described the vote for Bolsonaro as plain "fascism". At
best, as portraying the degree to which fascism had advanced in society. In any case, they
reduced all possible political positions and behaviours to casting votes in bourgeois
elections. A poll that was based on fragmented campaigns and on the proliferation of lies,
bought and disseminated by big businessmen. The 2018 elections were marked by "fake news".
These were used as a tactic by the main candidates. This fake news spread among the people
and caused a large part of it to feel deceived or confused.
Reformism also showed its true elitist face in the argument that voting for Bolsonaro was
a result of people's "ignorance". At some point they advised to "exchange weapons for
books". But the people know very well what violence is! They are dying in wars that the
state instigates! Those who don't know and can't understand the acute despair of
witnessing deaths and the daily flow of blood, are the petty bourgeois left reformists,
who sit on their couch and watch it all on TV.
The PT governments have been ineffective in providing any solution to the problem of
violence. And that is one of the reasons that explain the delusions that many voters have
regarding Bolsonaro. The conservative elitism of the reformist left, that creates a
hyerarchy of political positions based on "erudition", pretends also to educate the people
on the ways towards emancipation and the construction of socialism.
Some sectors in the left have presented themselves publicly as "critics" of the PT
government. But in the present context, they later capitulated and campaigned for the PT.
This is no more than another result of those presuppositions about the people. Plain
bullshit. Or even better, bullshit rooted in their own class prejudice. They assume that
the people are fascists, same as Bolsonaro is. What is really happening is that, as a
radical class, they haven´t yet figured out what path to take. But these leftists assume
that Bolsonaro's victory is the expression of a fascist society and that the PT could help
to stop fascist propaganda in the country. Even though this is the party that has
contributed most to create this diffuse anger felt by a betrayed and frustrated working
class. In the reformist equation, society = state = elections and violence is completely
overlooked. But there is a huge difference between humanism and the struggle for
socialism. The parties of the institutional left have already proved, in every possible
way throughout their existence, that they have chosen humanism and the management of class
and state violence.
THE 2018 ELECTIONS IN CONTEXT
Since Dilma Roussseff's impeachment in 2016, the right had been betting on the PSDB and
its candidate in the 2018 presidential elections, Alckmin. However, Bolsonaro came to
represent people's feelings of hopelessness and opposition to the PT. He also boasted the
support of some evangelicals and of the military, as evidenced by his vice-president, Mourão.
The Workers' Party (PT) and its satellites were trapped in the Fora Temer (Temer Out!) and
Lula Livre (Free Lula) campaigns. These led to catastrophic results. During the elections,
the PT was fully behind the Haddad and Manuela ticket, as a continuation of its policy of
class reconciliation. Meanwhile, the bourgeoisie no longer needed the services of the PT.
And the PT reaped what it had sown. While it held Brazil's presidency, it dutifully played
the part of the right: it curtailed social movements and criminalised left-wing militants.
It even passed repressive laws, such as the Anti-Terrorism Act.
The Bolsonaro and Mourão (PSL/PRTB) ticket won the election in all Brazilian states,
except for the nine that make up the Northeastern region. Even beyond the elections
Bolsonaro and Mourão as a captain and retired general of the Brazilian Army, it must be
noted that more military officers were elected in 2018 than in any other year, 73 in
total: 56 to state/district congress, 14 to federal congress and 3 senators. In other
words, the Brazilian state will be even more militarised and repressive. There is already
talk about cutting back social rights.
Bolsonaro's openly fascist discourses, about "sweeping away Brazil's reds", "putting an
end to activism", in addition to a congress controlled by the military, set the stage for
2019. The loss of social rights will deepen. Their rule will be based on the whip and in
the "shut your mouth up" principle. Repressive power will be strengthened. And, finally,
class struggles will be more acute.
The current situation calls for the immediate setting up of Mutual Aid Committees, support
networks and legal advice groups, for people's self-defence and direct action. This is the
task set forth for all unions, the student movement and the popular movements. We must
defend every inch of the periphery and the favelas, the shanty-towns, the schools and
universities, the factories and other workplaces, fields and villages.
The right is not bashful anymore and is now represented in Brazil's presidency. They feel
legitimised to practice all forms of oppression and violence. The institutional left will
not be more radical in its actions, as it has become accustomed to and is compromised by
its ties to the State.
The working class, facing a repressive steamroller that is heavier by the day, has but one
option left: to shake off any reformist delusion and build up an effective revolutionary
project, to fight against exploitation and capitalist violence, as this is only set to
become even worse in 2019, led by an explicitly fascist government.
ALL POWER TO THE PEOPLE!
FIGHT FOR AND BUILD PEOPLE'S POWER!
ELECTIONS = FARCE!
ONLY AN ORGANISED PEOPLE CAN MAKE REVOLUTION!

From the CNT of Barcelona we invite you to participate in the commemoration days of the
100 years of the Canadian Strike - known at the time as La Canadiense (Canadian capital
electricity factory) - a forbidden and solidary strike, which was a of the most important
in the history of the modern working class. A historical fact that demonstrated the
transformative capacity of a conscious and organized working class. ---- The commemorative
days are from February 9 to March 23 . In each act we want to highlight the events that
occurred that week and we have divided them into the following: ---- 9 February: 1. The
start of the strike. ---- February 16: 2. Solidarity. ---- February 23: 3. The
insubordination. ---- March 2: 4. Feminist Solidarity. ---- March 9: 5. The strike
continues. ---- March 16: 6. The triumph of trade unionism. ---- March 23: 7. The fight
continues.
The Strike began on February 5, 1919, in solidarity with 8 workers dismissed for not
accepting a pay cut when they went from temporary to permanent, and ended on March 17 with
the recognition of much of the demands of the strikers:
Readmission of the dismissed and not retaliation.
Increase in salaries between 50 and 100% of salary.
8-hour working day.
Freedom of the imprisoned.
Thus, March 17, 1919 the company and the government yielded to almost all the demands of
the strikers, but some workers would still be imprisoned, and the 8-hour workday was
included in a decree but not by law.
For another strike was held to free the prisoners - more than 3,000 - which ended on April
3 with the release of the majority of inmates and the approval by law of the 8-hour
workday for all workers . It was a great victory for the working class.
Do not miss these interesting days!
The first act next Saturday, February 9 at 5pm , at the 3 Chimeneas park in the
Pueblo-seco neighborhood of Barcelona, will be an opening day where we will explain the
chronological events of a historic strike promoted by the CNT and we will also have the
parliaments of the most combative trade union sections of CNT Barcelona , in which they
will talk about their experience in the fight against strikes and conflicts with companies.
We recall that CNT does not participate in trade union elections or works councils and is
committed to the union sections within the companies, the workers' assembly and the trade
union promoted by CCOO and UGT .

Over the past week, an epidemic of "Carrier Pigeon Flu" has spread to over 40 post offices
throughout Poland. The flu, which is characterized by general malaise, is caused by
overwork due to poor working conditions and has great impact on the health. That is why a
call was spread to postal workers advising them to see their doctors, which has resulted
in a large amount of workers going on sick leave. In some cities, as many as 1/3 of the
staff are out and in some smaller towns, nobody is working. ---- Over the last few months,
people from different professions - such as teachers - have "gotten sick". Such actions
are thought to be a way of avoiding the very prohibitive laws regarding legal strikes and
a way to circumvent the unions which often discourage any decisive action by the workers.
The health advisory was issued through a network of postal workers started by ZSP. Workers
drew up a list of 14 demands, which were delivered by a representative of the union before
the flu epidemic took hold. Workers demand, among other things, a raise of 1000 zloties
and the reinstatement of Rafal and Zbigniew, who were fired for their union activity.
Other demands include postulates which the workers presented after national meetings
started to press for the workers concerns outside of the mainstream unionists, which tend
to protect the interests of the state-run enterprise over the interests of the workers.
As the action started, the management of the Post Office has attempted to criminalize a
member of ZSP for the third time. A large criminal case was filed and a report sent to the
State Security Agency (ABW) implying that, among other things, calling for a strike is
"criminal activity" and that the ZSP is trying to overthrow the government. Amongst the
allegations made in the documents, we can read the following:
"In connection to the investigation on the ties between the ZSP and groups of Post Office
workers, we are sending this report to the ABW so that they can check if their actions and
the actions of workers at the Post Office which work with them will lead to the
destabilization of the Post Office which is an entity which carries out strategic action
to defend the safety of the country and public order and, as a consquence, if this won't
destablize the State.
We notify the security organs about our suspicion that ZSP has committed a crime by
calling for a general strike which would put the Post Office, which carries out strategic
activity to defend the Polish State, at risk of ceasing to function because of a
nationwide paralysis caused by a general strike."
None of this has deterred the union. So far the state has refused on several occasions to
register a its union at the Post Office on numerous ridiculous pretexts. The Post Office
therefore pretends it does not exist, although it is clear that the workers remain
determined to put forward their demands.ZSP also continues to fight for the reinstatement
of its member, Zbigniew T. from Wroclaw who was fired after 36 years of work for his
organizing activities. In January, a court case against the Post Office took place and the
local ZSP organized a solidarity picket. One postman from the union quit in solidarity
with Zbyszek and others have declared to do the same if the Post Office refuses to discuss
their demands.

Anarchism, an anti-political, non-hierarchical platform striving to circumvent the central
power of the state, banks, bureaucratic institutions, repressive components, churches, or
any authoritarian ideology that tolerates the oppression of minorities by most or human
beings, or an extremist phenomenon. He became a scoundrel of a decent citizen as a synonym
of political chaos, uncontrolled unmanage, and social disorder. The truth is, however,
much more complicated. ---- "True is what defies." (Invisible Committee) ---- Though the
founding thinker of anarchism and revolutionary Mikhail Bakunin was still actively
involved in the International International in 1864 and was thus a part of world history,
soon anarchism came to fruition because of the break with the Communists over the form of
the workers' revolution. While their former close colleague and theorist of socialism,
Karl Marx is still a worshiped "patriarch" of left-wing thinking, practitioners of
anarchists have disappeared undeservedly in the slump of official state history. How not,
when they are the greatest critic of this institution. And despite the fact that under the
red embargo of Communism an incomparably more violence has been committed than under the
black flag of anarchy, the anarchists are still perceived by the majority society as a
greater social evil and dangerous extremism.
However, with great exaggeration, all the great philosophers, scientists and founders of
new religions from Socrates through Jesus, to the Buddha, who at the time were able to
resist the old patterns of thought, the existing power structures and hypocritical dogmas,
began to stir up new, until then, heretical paradigm. The effort to personalize and to
reconstruct society, to move it towards a fairer and more egalitarian version of the human
community, serving most, not just a ruling minority, as is the case with most social
arrangements from communism to capitalism, includes parliamentary democracy.
But let's go back to the history of anarchism. The Anarcho-Syndicalists in Russia and
Ukraine played an important role in the organization of the Communists in Russia and
Ukraine for the leadership of Nestor Makhno when the Great October Revolution of 1917 or
the Civil War in Spain in 1936-39. At that time they also had a great deal of support for
the people, and the social ideas of anarchism were on the rise. The vast anarchist
movement, holding self-government and autonomy of the individual, was rooted in Italy, led
by Erric Malatesta or Latin America. Even our anarchists bloomed wheat in the form of a
person like Jaroslav Hašek, SK Neumann, or Michael Kacha in the early 20th century, when
the movement was widespread throughout the world. Nevertheless, even these historical
events have not significantly depreciated in the minds of the contemporaries, and they are
suppressed primarily by the supporters of the anarchist movement as a sort of mythological
golden age of their efforts. Official history is still silent and shows the "shepherd" of
history as the black sheep of society. It seems as if anarchists in history have often
fulfilled the role of the scapegoat according to Girard's mimetic theory, as in the
judicial error of the Sacca and Vanzetti case, or the case of Gavril Princip, which is
good to blame for various assassinations and inexplicable terrorist attacks. Though
Islamic terrorists are overtaken by a big deal today, the anarchists have come out of the
center of media attention. as if the anarchists in history often performed the role of a
scapegoat according to Girard's mimetic theory, such as the judicial error of the Sacca
and Vanzetti case, or the case of Gavril Princip, in which it is good to blame for various
assassinations and inexplicable terrorist attacks. Though Islamic terrorists are overtaken

Gavril Princip, in which it is good to blame for various assassinations and inexplicable
terrorist attacks. Though Islamic terrorists are overtaken by a big deal today, the
anarchists have come out of the center of media attention.
The scattering of anarchist theories is also broad, often controversial, sometimes merging
with libertarian theses or non-Christian Christianity, as in the case of the writer and
radical pacifist Lev Tolstoy. As a forerunner of modern anarchism we can see Max Stirner,
who, following the example of humanists, advocated the individual's individual freedom and
independence, which should not be restricted to anyone or anything. G. Landauer was
influenced by the contemporary philosophy of the will and power of the spirit of Nietzsche
and Schopenhauer. Let's move on to the active revolutionaries Alexander Berkman and Emma
Goldman, who were waiting for the revolutionary transformation of the whole society, but
eventually they were crying over earnings when they saw that the socialist revolution in
Russia became just another dictatorship and authoritarian cult of personality. That is why
later gestalt psychologist and writer Paul Goodman or Colin Ward almost resigned from the
discourse of the whole-world revolution and tried to apply the ideas of anarchism in
everyday life and specific actual events when they proposed to replace the revolution by a
personal uprising or revolt. Murray Bookchin for change comes with an ecological view of a
company that cuts a branch itself, which needs to be rectified. Writer and visionary Hakim
Bey, responding to the relativistic postmodern, revolutionary, completely condemns and
outlines the conspiratorial concept of "temporary autonomous zones," which states that
there is a need to create "places" or "moments" of freedom outside the majority society,
which can not be completely changed at any rate.
The bourgeois service of the original anarchist philosophy, in its own way, was made by a
later punk scene that gave her the sign of nihilism and decadent defiance. It has created
a modern cultural stereotype of society's view of anarchy. The main initiators of Sex
Pistols, with their anarchy in the UK, were more generational rebellions than the planned
social revolution. But by no means anyone who has a clear-headed and "fucky" system must
be a priori anarchist. While it is to be remembered that some anarchopunks who have been
left behind in the background of this "big rock'n'roll sword" have taken on ecological
activism, animal rights, monitoring of neo-Nazi scenes - Antifa and demonstrations to
support oppressed minorities. However, it is good to recognize in time whether it is not
just demonstration demonstrations such as the maintenance of a flame that fades. However,
civic activism can also take a different form, such as direct action such as
awareness-raising, assistance to the needy, social work in the field, disinformation on
the Internet or unusual cleaning of rubbish in its surroundings. Anarchism, by its very
nature, does not depend on any musical style or subculture. He should be fully free,
independent and fluid, and he should be able to exploit the possibilities of the current
social situation and modern technologies, which he sometimes does not, and as if he has
remained somewhere in the past.
The original ideology of anarchism was above all a social philosophy with an alternative
program aimed at a free, decentralized and self-regulatory community of people, without
state supervision and the need for repressive components based on mutual trust and
tolerance. But not at the expense of the destruction of all social values and customs but
of the ethical awareness of the need for natural solidarity and radical emancipation of
the individual within society, as characterized by pioneer of anarchist ethics Petr
Kropotkin. Here, we can also recall the final words of Bakunin about the anarchist
understanding of freedom: "I am truly free only when all the human beings that surround
me, both men and women, are equally free. The freedom of another is not at all a boundary
or a negation of my freedom, but it is a necessary condition and confirmation. "
Contemporary anarchism fights primarily with cultural stereotypes, the rigors of
conservatism, or the regression of severe nationalism. He is mindful of any form of
oppression, totalitarianism and authoritarianism, and outlines the new possibilities for
non-state society to function in the future. Solidarity, social justice and genuine
democracy are one of its main premises, not just a vow of voters, as is the case with most
political parties. Not merely "spitting" the authorities, smashing the "corporation"
expense, or fist fighting with neo-Nazis, which is sometimes only a distraction of
precious energy, although at the same time it can vigorously draw attention to the
problems that would otherwise be medically "invisible" society to start solving them.
However, it is necessary to go to the very core of the matter and not to lose sight and
humor as the spice of life. Who is unable to overlook and self-reflection,
Today, therefore, anarchism is not about launching the world revolution or the immediate
abolition of the state as its fathers founders who lived in another sociocultural
situation of early industrialization and wage-labor working 12 hours a day in unbearable
conditions, but of modern social orientation in a multipolar world, "Right" and "Left" is
just the observance of outdated political stereotypes of the 18th century. It is rather a
revolution in the change of patterns of thought rather than an illusory violent revolution
that forces people to do something again without being convinced of it. Rather
anti-militarism and pacifism, rather than aggression and violence, can be an effective
weapon to create a new social climate for further development and co-operation, even if
some anarchists do not think that.
From today's postmodern discourse, intellectuals and artists such as linguist and critic
of American politics Noam Chomsky, anthropologist and political activist David Graeber,
leftist historian Vadim Damier, active revolutionary and postmodern writer from Mexican
Chiapas Subcomandante Marcos, or leftist essayists and theorists riots that have brought
together the Invisible Committee. It can be also the investigative journalist Julian
Assange, whistleblower Edward Snowden, political annoyances and hackers Anonymous, the
Occupy movement in the US, Russian activist Pussy Riot, banksy chartbie, and musician Tom
Morello of RATM. Here we can remember the radical art group Ztohoven or the Publishing
House of the Anarchist Federation. However, it is not only about the well-known
personalities but especially about all the necessary activists and activists, squads and
squatters and squatters seeking to be a valid correction and alternative to contemporary
society and pointing to injustice and oppression or chicanism by state bureaucracy,
police. As Ancient Antonio claims in Subcomandant Marcos: "The battle is like a circle. It
can start in any place and never end. "
By virtue of the fact that anarchism, by its very nature, defies an exact definition and
its main concomitant phenomenon is thought movement, social defiance to authoritarian and
totalitarianist power and ideological indefiniteness in the intentions of chaos theory, it
can be stated that how many are the adherents of anarchism, so many definitions exist and
sometimes contradictory views from socially leftist anarcho-communism to its almost absurd
neo-liberal antithesis of anarchocapitalism, advocating personal property and the free
market. Which is his advantage, but also the weakness. Anarchists are divided into many
factions, adhering to the absolute correctness of their "beliefs", which often fail to
co-operate or even combat, and thus their power is diminishing. If the current situation
is to call postanarchism or neo-anarchy, it is more a matter of intellectual debate with
beer than a question, on which to look for the answer. It would be said that there is no
will here, which could imply a paraphrase of the famous passage: Anarchists of all
factions - join!!!
But one thing is common to all - the anarchists do not deserve political power or
accumulation of property, which can be in today's free consumerism and the focus of people
on their own profitable suspicious. As the founder of the modern anarchism J-.P said.
Proudhon, "ownership is theft," and as it is known - all power corrupts. Anarchism,
however, wants to preserve its temporary autonomous zones of uncontrolled time and space,
its own responsibility and freedom of the individual, which is becoming increasingly
difficult at the time of all-profitable Internet and digital technologies often serving
omnivorous marketing and unrestricted control of citizens. However, the journey to the
first-ever society of "savage savages" would be only utopian anachronism. Anarchism has
always been a thought avant-garde, not a reactionary return.
It is a fact that presenting a society in modern history that could operate without
centralized government, even though it still takes most people more than gives it, is
quite difficult. Today, the state is a dairy cow for various private businesses, an
overcrowded flock of officials, and their continuing corruption, instead of actually
fulfilling its social role and serving people, not him. Still, people still believe in
their determining and saving power, even though today's oligarchs, who call themselves so
self-appointed "good landlords" so readily, take their faces in live and prime time.
Perhaps one day, however, people are slowly waving their handkerchiefs in the stubborn
construct of nationalism, stopping to worship the demons of money - Mammon in the form of
late capitalism, and attempting an egalitarian arrangement of society, but without a
totalizing tendency from the past. It is not necessarily that social chaos or, if you
want, anarchy, but it may be that order without government. Perhaps one people will be
freer, more responsible and ecologically more human. Or is it just the utopia of a handful
of idealists? Everyone must answer it himself. Anarchism, however, is not just anarchy.

The following is a statement on the current political crisis and U.S. backed coup underway
in Venezuela produced by Solidaridad, a libertarian communist political organization in
Chile. In the coming days we will be publishing an additional statement written jointly by
anarchist groups in Brazil and Uraguay. For additional analysis we recommend our archive
of articles and statements on Venezuela. ---- Translation by Francisco C., Black Rose/Rosa
Negra. ---- A Public Statement on the Situation in Venezuela ---- Venezuela is going
through a profound crisis of which it is impossible to exempt the responsibility of the
leadership of Chavismo: the failure in opening a path that allows the country to overcome
the dependence of oil, the inefficiency in implementing measures that better the economic
situation of the country, the bureaucracy that is drowning the popular initiative and the
cases of corruption that affect officials who move key aspects of the economy. These are
some of the unresolved problems.
Nevertheless, this situation is within the framework of a polarization and conflict of
classes where the Venezuelan right-wing, the loyal representative of the well-off sectors
in the country in conjunction with diverse administrations from the U.S. government, has
unfolded a destabilizing strategy intended to asphyxiate the Venezuelan economy
contributing to the deterioration to the living conditions of millions of people. The
objective of this effort is to undermine the popular support that has mainly sustained the
process of change in Venezuela.
Even worse, this right-wing, which presents itself as a democratic alternative and which
hides its despise for the working class behind a false language that appeals to justice
and respect to a constitution they had once insulted, operates in a criminal manner
sharpening the levels of violence. Behind the figure of[self-proclaimed interim
President]Juan Guaidó and the Voluntad Popular or Popular Will party, hiding behind the
high-flown speeches amplified by the media has been an insurrectionary strategy which
unfolded with armed attacks on military barracks,[1]destruction of health centers,[2]the
burning of warehouses with food destined to vulnerable,[3]among other multiple actions of
sabotage went on during these years. It came to the point where social leaders were being
killed by hired hitmen[4]and to the burning alive of people simply for being Chavistas.[5]
From what's mentioned above we've learned that if the right gains power in Venezuela
again, not only will it implement adjustment policies that include privatization of public
enterprises, massive indebtedness with bodies like the IMF, and the opening of oil
projects where private companies assume as principal shareholders,[6]but it will also be a
government of revenge where the hate accumulated during these years will unfold brutally
against organized sectors of the people who dared to dream of a country that would
transition to non-capitalist ways of living together.
The realization of a profound balance between Latin American progressives and in
particular from the Venezuelan experience, even with all its contradictions and potential
is a pending task for the left. Suffice it to say that many of these experiences have
given way to political processes that directly harm the working class. Nevertheless, and
despite the legitimate differences that we openly express with those who lead the
Venezuelan process, the left and the people have to be emphatic in rejecting this new coup
attempt - the ominous interference of the U.S and the other countries related to the
destabilizing strategy which includes the government of[Chilean President Sebastián]Piñera
and the political sectors who support its foreign policy all the way from Chile. Along
with this we must demand the governments who quickly squared with the position of the
United States to respect the rights of the Venezuelan people to its own conflicts without
the interference of other states establishing as a minimum floor the non-recognition of
the diplomatic delegations won over by Guaído.
We manifest our solidarity with the people of Venezuela directly from our organization,
especially with the fringes who even against the grain of the Chavista leadership and
assuming all the contradictions of the change in process, protagonize[fight for]new
experiences in building popular power that range from the takeovers of the land, the
socialization of self-managed companies by its own workers or the government from below in
rural and urban communities,[7]and obtaining spaces that prefigure the path of the people
who fight against the ominous consequences of patriarchal capitalism we want to overcome.
