Members of the Anarchist Communist Group attended the demonstration in London on Friday
February 15th organised by striking school students. We were impressed by the commitment
of the school students and their constantly shifting road blocks outside the Houses of
Parliament. We are in full solidarity with the school strikes which occurred in sixty
towns and cities around Britain and around the world.  We salute the courage and
commitment of the school students ranging in age from eleven to eighteen who are fighting
to stop climate change. ---- Most impressive of all was the ability of the school students
to organise themselves with no outside influence and their use of direct action with the
strikes and road blocks. We look forward to the strengthening of this movement and the
involvement of more and more school students and we hope that it will spread to the
further education colleges and universities and indeed is taken up in the workplaces. The
school students need to make sure that this movement remains independent and that they
themselves control their own struggles. They need to make sure they reject the overtures
of the various Leninist vanguard parties and the Labour Party and we look forward to a
growing realisation that the halting of climate change implies opposition to the system
that produces it, capitalism.

We look forward to the next day of action on March 15th and hope that it will involve
greater numbers of school students and that indeed it will spread beyond them to other
sectors of society.

The increase in university fees will eventually affect everyone ! To counter it, we can
only rely on ourselves, and certainly not on university presidencies ! Students and
Workers, Yellow Vests: Together, Let's fight for public service ! ---- Against the rise:
fight ! ---- Some universities have announced that they will not apply this phenomenal
increase (€ 170 to € 2770 in license and € 243 to € 3770 in master). But a racist
dimension will always be present: the administrative situation of foreign students will
now be controlled, those without paper will risk expulsion if this information is
transmitted to the prefecture. And the logic of this measure is to force the universities,
which have less and less resources, to finance themselves through the racist increase in
the fees of foreign students. To refuse to apply this increase is to face the same needs
with less budget. With this blackmail, the government will win. To definitively cancel this
measure will only go through the struggle, let's build it !

Merchandise Universities
Since 2000, the government has been seeking to liberalize our universities. It started
with the LRU law which set up competition between universities. This competition is today
accentuated by the ORE law which introduces a social selection at the entrance of the
university and makes access to it more difficult for the working classes. The increase in
registration fees for non-European students goes in the same direction: those who already
had difficulties to access universities will definitely be excluded. But this measure is
only a beginning: if we continue to follow the logic of the government, the increase in
registration fees will soon affect everyone.

Let's build our movements and converge
High school students, high school students, teachers, teachers and yellow vests have many
common demands, and it has been several weeks since discussions and mobilizations are
organized on the roundabouts but also in the cities. Youth has a say in the prevailing
crisis of social misery and liberal reforms that affect all sectors. Before the holidays,
the government had once again chosen to respond with violence to strong mobilization in
high schools. This same violence mutilated every Saturday, from demonstration to
manifestation. The strike of February 5 has notably shown the government that convergence
is being built and that youth remains determined ! In our places of study, mobilize from
our own claims and join massively the movement !

On February 10, 1519, Hernan Cortes fled from Cuba to conquer Mexico. He is at the head of
550 soldiers, 100 sailors, 30 horses, some 200 black and Indian slaves  ; 10 guns support
the expedition, and 11 ships carry it. By destroying the Aztec civilization, it opens the
way to Western expansionism and colonialism. ---- This day of February 1519, it is hastily
that Cortes makes sail his fleet. He is in delicacy with Diego Velazquez, the governor of
the island who commissioned him in the name of the King of Spain and German Emperor
Charles V, to conquer Mexico. But he suspects him of very personal aims and the future
will prove him right. The man is fully focused on his ambitions, and will engage men and
women to destroy the most powerful civilization of the Americas in just two years, by
trickery, manipulation, and iron.

Cortes touches the land of Yucatán on February 18th. He will follow the coast until April,
will border the military disaster in Tabasco where the Indians, for the first time, will
see cavalry, arquebuses and cannons at work: 800 are massacred.

We are looking for gold. The Castilians have put in mind that the country is full of it.
And when Cortes inquires, the Mayans who want it as far as possible from him say " Mexico
City, Mexico   ", the capital of Anahuac, the Aztec country. He returned to his capital,
Tenochtitlan, in November of the same year, and in 1521 captured the last Aztec king. Two
years of unheard-of violence, a quick conquest.

Cortes, medieval man
For the time being, he has his fleet stifled, forbidding all retreat, he inquires about
the country before him, and rises the people against each other. He married a Mayan slave,
La Malinche, who decoded for him the wheels of an Aztec empire populated by several
million people, and that less than a thousand men were preparing to storm.

The penniless provincial henchman or "   little   " Great of Spain, it is unclear, but his
family is of old nobility, warrior, counting a great master of the chivalric order of
Alcantara, and profiting from territorial and legal charges in Castile, well connected to
the royal power. Cortes is not inclined to study, but gifted for weapons, strategy and
command.

In all respects, he is a man of the Middle Ages. Spain - or rather Castile - of the time
has just completed the 300 years of the Recapture by the capture of Granada. The family of
Cortes has distinguished itself during these wars that end, leaving no territory to
challenge the ambitious hidalgo (son of someone). It is naturally to the newly arrived
Americas and India that their ambitions are turning.

But the conquests that prolong the "   discoveries   " of Columbus, Magellan, Vasco de
Gama ... initiate a new form of expansionism. Until now the worlds that met were
relatively balanced and the conquerors found, once the cause of their technical or
tactical superiority understood, the respondent. And if the cultures differed, the
criteria of imperialism of some were opposable by the resistance of others: Romans and
Parthians, Mongols and Westerners, Franks and Saracens in the Holy Land ...

Cortez going to Moctezuma to Tenochtitlan, 1519, illuminated, Paris, National Library. The
conquistadors will throw themselves on the city. We are talking about 15,000 to 30,000
dead. (click to enlarge)
These new territories can not durably oppose the conquistadors, either by arms or "
morally   ". European military power overcomes the multitudes of the Aztecs. And then: it
is the spirit of the Amerindians who is broken. The Aztecs, like the other peoples of
Mesoamerica live for their gods. These gods are hungry for gifts, for attention. But still
blood and human lives if the world needs to be maintained. Politics and economy, the whole
culture is used to feed the gods. When Spaniards arrive in Mexico, the "   flower war  "
That the peoples of Anahuac indulge serves to supply the gods with sacrifices and the
cities as slaves. Anxiety civilization, Mexico lives in fear of God's wrath. So when
Cortes had a cross at the top of Tenochtitlan's major temple, Moctezuma was desperate: "
So you want to destroy us and this whole city  ?  "

As the Spaniards advance to the heart of the Aztec country, and during the war that
follows, the sacrifices will not cease so much we are distraught, stunned by the cosmic
catastrophe of magnitude that strikes Mexico.

If Cortes is a contemporary of Machiavelli, he is also the heir of the Crusades where it
is "   Overseas   " and with sword blows a fief, followed by the army of priests and
unknown laws: to defeat the spirits, to bring back the tributes, to control the people.

Moctezuma, the angry man. This is the meaning of this name, that Huey Tlatoani  [1]is the
second to wear. Yet the Spanish and indigenous testimonies describe rather a distraught
man, but who nevertheless resists, trying to curb the Castilian advance, then to delay, to
reduce the crazy demands of Cortes, to save his people.

It is for ease and condescension that one will speak of his weakness, or even of the Aztec
superstition which sees in the conquistadors the return of Quetzalcoatl, the white god who
marks the end of a cosmic cycle.

The confusion is real nevertheless, and the signs and prophecies that weave also the
vision of the Mexican world, are added to the factual: the Aztecs are at the limit of
possible expansion of their empire. They are alone, hated by their neighbors, their system
is at the end of its dynamics. And above all, what is confronting, as everywhere else in
the Americas, are visions of the world whose difference is irreducible. If there is mutual
fascination and admiration on both sides, it is impossible for the Spaniards and Mexicans
to understand one another. Irreducible, the difference is also unacceptable.

 From Veracruz to Tenochtitlan: resistances
Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clézio  [2]puts forward the idea that Moctezuma understands - both
by magico-religious thought, and by the violence of the facts - that his civilization is
doomed, and that he decides to distract on his person the greatest part of conquering
fury. He resists affronts, seeks to gain time, wants to spare his people. Disarray, panic,
confusion of Mexicans  ? Yes. But Mexico is resisting too. It has resisted even fiercely
since the first hour of 500 years of Spanish occupation.

We had left Cortes in Mayan country. Guided by La Malinche, informed and reinforced by the
Tlaxcaltecs enemies of the Aztecs, the Castilians move north. Moctezuma sends emissaries
to them, offering them precious relics of gold and silver, jade and obsidian, feather
costumes ...

Cortes is in front of Cholula where we welcome him beautifully. However, Mexicans have
decided to end the Spanish threat and plan to kill them in their sleep. The trick is stale
and the conquistadors throw themselves on the city. We are talking about 15,000 dead or
30,000. The figures are overwhelming.

His own army also resists Cortes: it is hard to understand that he goes beyond the terms
of his mission, we panic about the temerity of his actions, we are disgusted also,
sometimes, by the massacres. Bernal Diaz de Castillo  [3]observes it with a mixture of
horror and admiration. His honesty as a man of the people ( "   illiterate idiots like me
") restores the golden legend woven by court historians. Cortes enters Tenochtitlan, he
cajoles and threatens, divides. He imposes laws, raises crosses, slays idols, establishes
a heavy tribute, taxes on the European model, and begins the ruin of the country. The
story is racing. Almost immediately, November 14, Moctezuma is imprisoned, told what to
say to calm the crowd and the nobility, it is urged to deliver gold, to support the
ordinances ...

At the back, Panfilo de Narvaez, under the orders of New Spain, has launched against
Cortes, decidedly too ambitious. Cortes leaves Tenochtitlan, entrusting the reins to Pedro
de Alvarado. This one sees a plot. He massacred all he could of the Aztec nobility
assembled for a religious festival, and entrenched himself. Cortes returns. The city opens
to him. Then closes. They are trapped in Tenochtitlan. The Aztecs are no longer frozen
with fear but fight the conquistadors on each of their outings. The war is here.

On July 30, the Castilians try to flee. The Mexicans spotted them and this sad noche ,
that sad night, killed several hundred invaders who lost their guns, arquebuses, horses.

A final confrontation puts face to face Cortes and his exhausted men, all wounded, and
nearly 40,000 Indians. It is in a desperate jolt that the Spaniards target the enemy
general and kill him, causing the Aztecs to rout.

Cuauhtemoc last resistant
At the beginning of the Aztec revolt, Moctezuma was forced to address the Mexicans to try
to bring them back to calm. A stone, it is said, burst forth from the Indian crowd,
furious at this treason, and Montezuma would have let himself die of his wound. His
brother Cuitluhuac succeeded him, but soon died of smallpox.

Cuauhtemoc, a nephew, succeeds him. He leads the fighting during the sad noche , organizes
the resistance, and commands his people during the siege that Cortes organizes from May 30
to August 13, 1521. For 75 days, the Spanish starve the Aztec capital, by land and by the
lake where he brought ships up. The fight is worthy of a modern war where, day after day,
we fight street by street. We target civilians, we advance step by step, gaining or losing
the advantage, while smallpox ravages Mexicans. The city is destroyed, in ruins. We are
talking about 150 to 250,000 Indians killed for a hundred conquistadors. Cuauhtemoc, who
tries to flee, is arrested, tortured at length. He will remain disabled. Then in 1525, the
Spaniards hang him.

Cortes, proclaimed captain general, will return to live and die in Castile during the
reconstruction of Mexico-Tenochtitlan. In just 20 years, there will be nothing left
floating gardens, the Mexican people are reduced one after the other, the conquests will
grow further, Honduras, Guatemala ...

And yet Spain will long miss the train of modernity, or rather, of capitalism. As Alain
Bihr  [4]shows , colonialism enriches capitalism when the structures of it are
pre-existing. This is the case of the United States emerging from the English colonies.
Conversely, colonialism becomes a burden for capitalism in a context where this
anteriority is lacking. This is the case of Spain: although with vast Asian and American
territories, wealth that accumulates, but spends on European wars, Spain will not be able
to take the turn of capitalism, and will instead become the opposite. the prey of the
English and French who will challenge it on land and at sea, smothering it systematically.

A 1 st  January 1994 in Chiapas, Mayan country, Mexican natives in the voice of the EZLN
declared war neoliberalism. The beginning of the revolutionary Zapatista experience was
born in the country where Cortes landed 500 years ago.

On this March 8th, on the occasion of this year's Women Strike, the Feminist Section of
the CNT-AIT Granada will go out to the streets again and are inviting all women and
non-cisgender normative people to join. ---- As anarchosyndicalists, we see the strike as
an extraordinary power to make the inequalities we face visible and to shake the system of
domination to which we are subjected, since it makes the relationship between the class
system and structural violence obvious. The strike on March 8th will not be a common
strike but a feminist strike, which adds new perspectives to our struggle and further
evidences how women and the non-cisgender normative identities are the ones who deal with
the lower and most precarious status within the capitalist and patriarchal society, and
that we are the ones suffering, in our bodies and identities, all the violence of the
system at all levels.

A day's strike in which all women stop work will make the co-relation between state,
patriarchy and capitalism clear and also how capitalist
exploitation is closely related to gender division, relegating women to breeding and care
jobs (without which the system could not exist) and
making the traditionally feminized jobs still more precarious.

We must launch our demands for change in the labour field:

-Job and private life in balanced proportion
-Bigger protection of motherhood
-End of the salary breach that makes us women earn less than men in the same positions
-Effective actions in cases of sexual harassment
-Put an end to feminization of poverty
-A fair share with men in care tasks
-Better protection to the pension system

All women and non-cisgender normative identities are, in a way, forced to sell our bodies
to capitalism and patriarchy. We are the precarious ones, the migrants, the race marked,
the sex workers, the housewives, the transexuals. We are the carers, the mothers, the non
binary identities, we are the ones left aside, the imprisoned ones, and the ones that are
not with us any longer because patriarchal violence killed them.

We are the ones who on March 8 will go out to the streets for an entire day of strike in
order to question the system. We will go to the streets to remind both capitalism and
state that they should not attempt to manipulate our own speech because, for us, the only
valid feminism is class feminism.

The labour field is just one of the axes in this feminist strike, since it goes along with
the student strike and the care and consumption
strike. This strike is a break with and a cry of rage against the system that humiliates,
abuses and despises us so badly; it will be a day for
empowerment and for showing the ones who still hesitate that, when together, even if
precarious, but always organized, we can defeat
patriarchy and capitalism.

From the Granada CNT-AIT, Feminist Section, we also share the statement
accepted at national level:

The protests of the Yellow Vests against the rich government and its antisocial policies
continue in France for 14 weeks. The steadfastness of the movement and the stubbornness of
the French people, who do not stop fighting for their rights, despite the police violence
and deceptive maneuvers of the authorities, is striking. Official media, various analysts
and government officials weekly shout the final of the movement, but Saturday and tens of
thousands of French come again on the streets. Again the police bustle - tear gas,
grenades and rubber bullets. But "Yellow vests" - continue to fight. This time they plan
to take to the streets and on Sunday - to celebrate the third month since the beginning of
the protests. To the initial demands for the abolition of the new tax on fuel and the
revision of policies that worsen the standard of living of ordinary people, as the
movement developed, the demands of direct democracy were added through a referendum
initiated by citizens (RIC). In addition, the Yellow Jackets demand the resignation of the
president and his government, expose the corporate media lies and oppose police violence.

On February 16, a new wave of social protests of the Yellow Vests movement, which took
place in France on Saturday, gathered over 40,000 people for demonstrations in the main
cities of the country, according to official figures of the authorities, of which about
5,000 came out in Paris. These data were brought on Saturday evening by representatives of
the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic, which is obviously much less than the
actual numbers of protesters on the streets of France.

Promotions in Paris
The first ranks of the demonstrators in Paris in the first half of the day moved along the
Champs Elysées, to then go to the left bank to the building of the National Assembly
(lower house of parliament). Given that the total number of demonstrators in the country
has decreased, the march in the capital has nevertheless gathered more participants than
on the previous Saturday. This time, according to the Interior Ministry, 5 thousand people
took part in it.

Several thousand "yellow vests" gathered on the Esplanade of Invalides in front of the
Invalides' House. Here the first clashes with the police took place. After that, the
activists tried to cross the bridge of Alexander III, but he was blocked by law
enforcement officers. 23 participants of the demonstration were detained on the esplanade,
15 of them were left in custody.

A major demonstration took place in Rouen. Four protesters were hit by a car whose driver
was trying to drive around the convoy. The injured were taken to hospital.

Marches in the regions
The demonstration was also held in Lyon. In Marseille, 10 activists of the movement began
a symbolic march on Paris in support of their demand for a "referendum of civil
initiative." To the border of the city they were carried out by 2 thousand Marseille.
Several thousand "yellow jackets" took to the streets of Toulouse on Saturday. "Only death
will stop us," was written on one of the banners that the protesters carried.

In Lille, demonstrators called for the resignation of the President of the Republic,
Emmanuel Macron. In Bordeaux, "yellow vests" filled the Exchange Square. Unlike previous
Saturdays, protesters chose a route through the city's secured neighborhoods. The riots
occurred after the participants arrived at one of the main squares of the city. The police
used tear gas and water cannons against the protesters.

Judicial repression
On the eve of the 14th Saturday, informal leaders of waistcoats appeared before the judges
- truck driver Eric Drouet and former boxer Christoph Dettenje. As a punishment for the
first of them, the prosecutor's office demanded a conditional sentence of one month in
prison and a fine of € 500 for holding demonstrations without the permission of the
authorities. The final sentence will be passed on March 29th.

Eric Drouet

Christoph Detinger

Detenzhe was sentenced to 30 months in prison (of which 18 months is conditional) for
assaulting two police officers during a "yellow vests" demonstration. The sentence
provides that he will work during the day and return to prison in the evening.

By 70 hours of labor, the seller of a Parisian bakery was sentenced to refuse to serve a
policeman during the 12th rally of "yellow vests." He refused to let the policeman into
the store, citing the fact that he was armed.

Counterclaims
This week, Jérôme Rodríguez, who was seriously wounded during the demonstration, and three
other demonstrators affected by the actions of the security forces, sent a formal
complaint to judicial investigators. They called to prosecute "for complicity" the prefect
of the police of Paris, Michel Delpesch.

A group of human rights experts published a statement criticizing the "serious
limitations" of the right to demonstrate in France. They demanded that the authorities
"review the policy in the field of order maintenance in order to guarantee the exercise of
freedoms" According to human rights activists, since the beginning of the protest movement
in November 2018, they received statements about the excessive use of force. "More than
1,700 people suffered as a result of demonstrations across the country," experts said.

They also noted that the existing restrictions on rights entailed a considerable number of
arrests, searches and confiscations of equipment from demonstrators. At the same time,
experts drew attention to the serious injuries caused, in their assessment, by the
"disproportionate use of so-called non-lethal weapons," in particular, rubber bullets.

According to human rights activists, ensuring public order and security in the framework
of measures to accompany demonstrations implies the need to respect and protect
demonstrators who come to the demonstrations with peaceful purposes in order to express
their opinions. "We are aware that some manifestations have become violent and have caused
unrest, but we are concerned that a disproportionate response may force the population to
refrain from exercising their fundamental freedoms," the statement says. situation with
the management of the situation and the use of force is not improving. "

Imperialism is the extension of a nation's power by territorial acquisition or economic
and political dominance of other nations. For example, American imperialism etc. its
characteristics is the economic, military, and cultural influence of the United States on
other countries. Such influence often goes hand in hand with expansion into foreign
territories. Empire is constantly evolving to thwart the people's movement. Imperialism
has changed significantly since its beginning. The period of traditional colonialism
during which the imperial powers literally occupied colonial lands mostly came to a close
around the end of World War 2. ---- The shattered empires of Europe could no longer occupy
vast lands around the world. Their weakened armies could not match the people's movements
and decolonial struggles that emerged. Decolonization did not mean real independence for
most former colonies. Even though former colonies were granted formal independence, real
power was held by the imperialists. The United States emerged as the main leader of the
Western imperialists. The nature of the Soviet Union also changed in the last decade of
Stalin's life. Like all major socialist revolutions, the Soviet Union wasn't defeated by
invasion by imperialists, but by the internal enemy, by malpractices of communism. The
statist Soviet Union emerged as another imperial bloc, but one that opposed the West.

These two imperial blocs contended for power over the countries of the Proletarian
World. Both created vast neocolonial empires that channeled resources and labor from the
neocolonies to themselves. The entire Proletarian World became a battleground between
these two imperial blocs. All the world was threatened with nuclear destruction by the
power struggle between the Western and statist Soviet imperialists.

Today, empire is changing again. Just as the revolutionary movement learns from our past,
just as revolutionary science Anarchism evolves, the forces of reaction also learn. Even
though there remain some conflicts in the world between powerful countries, these
conflicts will not result or even risk world war. The cycle of world wars predicted by
old's generation is over. Both world wars so weakened the capitalist system that
proletarian revolution was able to erupt on a massive scale. During the first world war,
the Bolshevik revolution created a wave of liberation that would not only spread
throughout the old Czarist empire, but also into Eastern Europe, even Germany. Not long
after World War 2, China, a quarter of the world's population, raised the red flag.
Although defeated now, at the time, these waves of revolution shook the capitalist system
to its core. The capitalists do not want a repeat of the past. Thus the capitalist system
has evolved. International institutions have arisen to mediate conflicts.

National capitalism is surpassed by transnational capitalism. The global capitalist class
is less and less tied to particular countries, rather they've become more and more
transnational. The capitalists have a mutual interest in jointly exploiting the
Proletarian working class in a way that does not lead to intra-imperialist war. Thus the
economies of the bourgeois countries are more and more intertwined with each other such
that intra-imperialist wars do not make economic sense. At the same time, the Bourgeois
World, the wealthy imperialist bloc, is penetrating and controlling the Proletarian World
in ever new ways. Transnational corporations play a bigger and bigger role in today's
economy and politics.

There is an increased overlap between big corporations and government.  As governments
have downsized, corporations have been charged with managing those sectors of society once
under the state's control, or in other cases, corporations have been charged with the
sell-off of massive state sectors as economies of weaker countries are forced to
restructure by their creditors, the World Bank, International Monetary Fund, etc. At the
same time, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) have an increased role as the traditional
state has declined. The network of NGOs taking on the role of social services, population
management, etc. are beholden to global interests, not to the communities they serve. They
too are part of the new globalized, neoliberal face of empire.

Two antagonistic worlds have emerged, the Bourgeois World versus the Proletarian World.
Contradictions within the Bourgeois World are becoming less and less antagonistic. Power
and wealth are becoming more and more socialized. Social divisions have become less and
less relevant in the Bourgeois World. The Bourgeois World is a world of comfort. The
Proletarian World, by contrast, is a world of poverty, hunger, environmental devastation,
instability, etc. The contradictions between the rich and the poor, rich and richer
between those who hold political and economic power and those who do not, is sharper than
ever in the Proletarian World. The gap between the rich and poor grows.  The dogma of the
past is not enough to win. Ideology is a weapon. If we are to really win, we must develop
ever more advanced revolutionary Light of science to place into the arms of the masses.
With all our hearts we follow the Light of Anarcho-syndicalism the most advanced science
applied to the task of reaching real Libertarian communism. Our main approaches are from
bottom up.

We are the organization of the global poor people, exploited, truly oppressed and their
real allies. We are the organization of the true proletarians, the Proletarian World, who
"have nothing to lose but their chains." We have a Planet to win. Protection, advancement
and Unification of human species in earth is our Major task.
