A few years from now, young pianist Evgeni Bozhanov turned the pianoworld upside down.
The wayward musician captivated international jury's with his unique playing, and what followed was a chain of successes: 2nd Prize at the Queen Elisabeth Competition (2010), 4th Prize at the F. Since then, he makes part of the most prominent pianists of this young generation and gives concerts at the most renowned concert halls over the world.
His performance at the F. Chopin Competition in Warsaw didn't pass unnoticed, and also his first CD-recording that was entirely dedicated to works of F. Chopin, proove that Evgeni Bozhanov feels totaly at ease in the world of the Polish composer.
It is on Friday 1 March that the Bulgarian pianist is coming to Brussels with an exceptional program: Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 1 & Piano Concerto No. 2.
These concerti incorporate about everything where Chopin stands for: poetry, melancholy, virtuosity, and breathtakingly beautiful and lyrical passages.
It is an evidence that it is very rare to hear both concerti in one evening, and totaly in the version where the soloist is accompanied by a string quartet.
The quartet is formed by top of the bill musicians such as the 2nd Prize Winner of the P. Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow: Alexander Buzlov (cello), but also Alissa Margulis (violin), Mona Verhas (violin), Leon Blekh (violin), and Semen Lebedyev (viola).

Voici quelques années, Evgeni Bozhanov bouleversait le monde du piano.
Le jeu subtil et incomparable de ce pianiste hors du commun, a largement impressionné bon nombre de jurys internationaux.

Aujourd'hui, il a incontestablement atteint une notoriété internationale et est invité à jouer dans les plus grandes salles de concert du monde.
Sa brillante prestation au Concours Chopin de Varsovie, loin d'être passée inaperçue, ainsi que l'enregistrement de son premier CD, consacré entièrement à F. Chopin, démontrent à suffisance qu'il se sent complètement à l'aise dans l'univers du compositeur polonais.
Le vendredi 1er mars, le pianiste bulgare sera à Bruxelles et présentera un programme absolument exceptionnel: le Concerto pour piano N°1 et le Concerto pour piano N°2.
Les deux concertos englobent à peu près tout ce que F. Chopin incarne: poésie, mélancolie, passion, virtuosité et mélodies lyriques à couper le souffle.
C'est évidemment un privilège rarissime que de pouvoir écouter ces deux concertos durant la même soirée, le tout dans une version avec accompagnement d'un quatuor à cordes.
Le quatuor à cordes rassemble des musiciens de classe mondiale, dont un 2e prix au Concours P. Tchaikovsky de Moscou: Alexander Buzlov (violoncelle), Semen Lebedyev (alto), Alissa Margulis (violon), Mona Verhas (violon) et Leon Blekh (violon).

Enkele jaren geleden zette de jonge Evgeni Bozhanov de pianowereld op zijn kop.
De eigenzinnige pianist wist internationale jury's te bekoren met zijn unieke spel, en reeg de successen aan elkaar: 2e Prijs op de Koningin Elisabeth Wedstrijd (2010), 4e Prijs op de Internationale F. Inmiddels behoort hij tot de absolute wereldtop, en staat hij op de meest gerenommeerde podia ter wereld.
Zijn succesprestatie op het Chopin-concours in Warschau ging niet onopgemerkt voorbij, en ook zijn eerste CD-opname geheel gewijd aan werk van F. Chopin, bewijst dat Evgeni Bozhanov zich helemaal in zijn sas voelt in de wereld van de Poolse componist.
Op vrijdag 1 maart komt de Bulgaarse pianist met een uitzonderlijk programma naar Brussel: Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 1 & Piano Concerto No. 2.
De twee concerti omvatten zowat alles waar F. Chopin voor staat: poëzie, melancholie, virtuositeit, en adembenemend mooie lyrische passages.
Dat het hoogst uitzonderlijk is om deze twee concerti op één avond te beleven staat buiten kijf, en al helemaal in de versie waarin de begeleiding wordt gebracht door een strijkkwartet.
