Dear friends, The process of shark finning is a cruel and wasteful practice. Fishermen cut the fins off while the shark is still alive, then throw it back into the ocean where it either drowns, bleeds to death or is eaten alive by another animal. Sign this petition against the shark fin trade now! This happens to more than 70 million sharks every year, including sharks that are at risk of going extinct. Shark finning is already illegal in Canadian waters, but Canada is still the biggest importer of shark fins outside of Asia. The good news is, there is currently a bill going through the House of Commons in Canada which will stop the import and export of shark fins. We need to make sure this bill is passed, and that in addition to the import and export, shark fin sales are banned too. Sign this petition to show your support for a full shark fin trade ban!
