Care2 Member Katie Witnessed Elephant Abuse in Sri Lanka. Sign to Help Her Save These Tortured Elephants from the Elephant Village!

Dear friends,
During her recent trip to Sri Lanka, Care2 member Katie was taken to a place called the Elephant Village instead of a government-run sanctuary 15 minutes down the road. She was horrified at what she saw.
Four elephants were kept chained up in a hot parking lot all day long. The chains were so short that the poor creatures could barely take a step. And if they did, the keepers shouted at them and threatened them with bullhooks and sticks. And from the wounds clearly visible all over their bodies, it was clear that the threat of violence was real.
Although Katie only saw four elephants, she was told that there were actually seven of them living in those heartbreaking conditions. And because Elephant Village doesn't have a website and is known only to locals, it has never been investigated by the government. It's as if these seven suffering elephants are invisible.
The Elephant Village elephants will never get any help unless we do something. So sign this petition to raise awareness of their plight and put pressure on the Sri Lankan government to take action now.
Thank you,
P.S. It is up to us to save the seven elephants at Elephant Village. Sign this petition to make sure they don't die with their legs in chains and their bodies covered in wounds.
