New issue of Rebel City - London's anarchist paper. London ACG jointly produce the paper
with other London anarchists.
Rebel City aims to cover all issues of importance to working class Londoners. We argue for
a radical transformation of our city. Rebel City is collectively produced by a range of
groups and individuals.

The resistance in Afrin decidedly raised the flag of the struggle against colonialism and
imperialism. It showed eleven more, in the 21st centur and, the struggle and the will of
oppressed peoples. At the cost of thousands of injured and shehids, the flourishing
revolution in Roja declares that it will not bend to any alliance or occupying force. ----
Against this occupation by the fascist Turkish state, as in the fight against DAESH, all
peoples of Rojava, international revolutionairies and fighters from all over the world
joined the resistance. ---- Haukur Hilmarsson (Sahin Hüseyni), as a fighter from Iceland,
was team commander in the International Freedom Battalion. He fought in Raqqa against the
DAESH gangs, and because "the Rojava revolution is the one of all oppressed peoples
worldwide", was part of the resistance in Afrin. Even when surrounded by mortar fire,
tanks, enemy gangs and Turkish air force, he and the comrades were fighting with, were
fiercly resisting. Haukur and his comrades repelled enemy forces by hundreds. When the
mortar fire and the attacks by the enemy gangs intensified on the front of
Dimilia-Badina-Mabeta, our comrade fell shehid on February 24th.

We, the fighters of the International Freedom Battalion, renew our vow to all our comrades
represented in the picture of Haukur Hilmarsson, and who fell shehid in Afrin, to always
and under all circumstances defend the revolution.

The martyrs of the revolution are immortal!
Sehid namirin!

International Freedom Battalion

On 26th January Surrey ACG jointly hosted a No War But The Class War meeting with the
Communist Workers' Organisation in Dorking. Fifteen people were there which was a pretty
good attendance. Members of the SPGB came down from London and the CWO had members attend
from Surrey and London. It was a decent discussion and after the formal meeting, people
stayed on for some beers. The meeting was part of the ongoing NWBTCW initiative by the ACG
and CWO and we agreed to produce a brief statement to attract other internationalists to
future meetings around the UK.

We have been living in the dark days of history. For decades the people of these lands,
have been more and more oppressed.  We have seen poverty, we have seen war, we have seen
the ones who escaped and survived from  the war of the states; but killed in the war of
capitalism or patriarchy. We have seen  our sisters tortured, stabbed, murdered, dragged
naked, torn into pieces, burned alive.. We have witnessed our children, crushed and run
over, we  have seen Saturday Mothers asking for justice and we have seen the murderers
trying to silence our mothers, by attacking them or arresting them. We have faced with
many cruelties and we have  resisted them all, and we will resist till the end.
We are the women of these lands, we have witnessed the fall of  many states, many kings
and many sultans.. While the history of "man" repeat itself we are finding out and writing
another history, the history of ours, the history of rebellion and resistance. We know the
women, who have been fighting against patriarchy, we know the women whose hands on their
hips, who are ready to clench their fists. Because we are all these women, and while we
are creating another history, we create culture. It is a culture of empathy, understanding
and solidarity. Excluding the relations of authority and obedience, this is a culture of
responsibility, to have our lives in our hands, having our struggle for our freedom.

Sisters, comrades, our struggle is the struggle of the oppressed against oppressor.  Any
place where the hierarchy of power appears, there becomes a  fighting zone. Any time when
the oppressor use the tools of violence, we don't hesitate to resist and fight back.
Fighting with the "seen" and "unseen" patterns of authority and patriarchy, we will be
able to actualise revolution from now and here.

Whereever we are we know and understand eachother,  because it is same  light glaring in
our eyes, it is the same shout in our voice.

Your struggle and solidarity gives us inspiration and strenght.

Hold on to your struggle, so we will!

PCS union members in Universal Credit have voted overwhelmingly to take strike action over
workloads and staff recruitment. ---- 274 staff were balloted for strike action at
Wolverhampton and Walsall service centres with over 90% of those who took part, voting
‘yes." ---- The decision will mean two days of strike action on 11 and 12 March at UC
centres in Walsall and Wolverhampton. PCS members are demanding 5,000 new staff, permanent
contracts, controls over work volume, and better management practices. ---- The PCS states
that Universal Credit has been a disaster for claimants and for its members working in the
service.  They want to see a properly funded humane system that helps those in need, not
one that that punishes and sanctions people for falling on hard times.

Since 2010 the DWP has lost 30,000 staff because of government job cuts.  Many experienced
staff have left and have been replaced by staff on fixed contracts given only a few weeks
of training.  Jobcentres have been closed. Remaining staff feel ill-equipped to deal with
the victims of domestic violence, people with mental health problems, and those with
disabilities who are being forced on to the Universal Credit programme.
