Op 9 mei houdt NSV! (Nationalistische Studenten Vereniging) hun jaarlijkse betoging opnieuw in Leuven. Deze groep, de onofficiële studentenafdeling van het Vlaams Belang, is een racistische, seksistische en islamofobe organisatie. Een deel van hun leden kan je ook terugvinden in de neofascistische Schild & Vrienden, waarvan oprichter Dries Van Langenhove de verkiezingslijst van Vlaams Belang Vlaams-Brabant trekt. De ideologie van extreemrechts wint de laatste jaren in aandeel en gelijk hiermee neemt hun agressie toe: de aanslag op de moskee in Christchurch was geen geïsoleerde gebeurtenis.
Wij van Undivided Against Racism gaan deze rechtse betoging niet zomaar laten voorbijgaan. We laten niet toe dat zij en hun ideeën genormaliseerd worden. Hun verdelende zogenaamde oplossingen blijven niet onbeantwoord. Op dezelfde dag organiseren wij een betoging in solidariteit met iedereen die in de ogen van extreemrechts minderwaardig is: migranten en vluchtelingen (of ze nu vluchten van oorlog, armoede of klimaatverandering, of ze papieren hebben of niet), moslims (in België of elders), met arme mensen, gekleurde mensen, mensen met een beperking, vrouwen en LGBTQ+.
Extreemrechts teert op sociale problemen en ontevredenheid, maar ze hebben hier geen oplossingen voor: niet voor oorlog, niet voor armoede, niet voor klimaatverandering en niet voor sociale problemen zoals werkloosheid, dakloosheid, lage lonen en lage pensioenen. Om deze redenen komen wij op straat. Niet enkel tegen discriminatie, maar ook voor een samenleving die tegemoetkomt aan de noden van iedereen.

On the 9th of May, the student group called the Nationalist Student Association (NSV! in Dutch) will hold their annual march in Leuven. This unofficial student wing of the far-right party Vlaams Belang (Flemish Interest; VB), is a racist, sexist and islamophobic organisation, which has members in the neo-fascist group Schild en Vrienden (Shield and Friends; S&V), of which founder Dries Van Langenhove will stand in the elections in may 26 in Vlaams-Brabant. As the far-right’s morale around the world has been bolstered in recent years, so has their aggression: the shooting at the Christchurch mosque was no isolated incident.
We of Undivided against Racism will not let NSV!'s march go by without response. We will not let them be normalised. We will not let their divisive “solutions” go unanswered. On the same day, we organise a march in solidarity with all those whom they deem inferior: migrants and refugees, whether they fled war, poverty, or climate change and whether documented or not; Muslims, whether from Belgium or elsewhere; with poor people, those of all races, disabled people, women, and any and all LGBT+ people.
The far right festers on social problems and discontent. But they have no answers: not for the wars, poverty or climate change, causing people to leave their homes and countries, nor for the social wrongs such as unemployment, homelessness, low wages and low pensions. Therefore, we march not only against discrimination, but also for a society providing in the needs of the many, not the few.
