Dolphins Belong in the Wild, But the Chicago Zoological Society Wants to Breed More in Captivity. Oppose the Transfer of Three Bottleneck Dolphins!

Dear friends,
Despite overwhelming public opposition, companies like SeaWorld continue to exploit and torture intelligent marine life by keeping and breeding them in captivity.
Currently, the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) in the United States is considering letting even more marine animal captivity continue unabated. Specifically, the Chicago Zoological Society (CZS) recently filed a permit asking to import three bottlenose dolphins from Dolphin Quest Bermuda and transfer them to either CZS' Brookfield Zoo in Illinois, or Coral World Ocean Park in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.
Neither of these two locations are fit to host these three dolphins. Brookfield Zoo would keep the dolphins locked indoors even though they have only ever lived outdoors, while the location of Coral World’s sea pen on Water Bay is so polluted that it's unsafe for humans to swim in 40 percent of the year. Moreover, that area is often hit by hurricanes.
While this import permit doesn't involve dolphins caught from the wild, it still supports the captivity industry, and therefore feeds the demand for captive dolphins who are taken from the wild.Facilities in the U.S. should not put profits and entertainment over the welfare of marine animals. They must stop furthering the international live dolphin trade, and end such torturous captivity.
Thank you,
P.S. Instead of breeding more marine animals in captivity, the National Marine Fisheries Service should support efforts to learn about and protect these animals in the wild where they belong.Sign the petition to change the tide today.
