The Oregon Zoo Concert Series Blasts Music at the Elephant Enclosure All Summer. Tell the Indigo Girls to Cancel Their Concert at The Zoo's Cruel Venue.

Dear friends,
Imagine someone standing right next to you, holding a speaker up to your ear, and turning up the sound full blast. Now imagine them doing it for hours every weekend for three months. That is how excruciating the Oregon Zoo's summer concert series is for the elephants living in the enclosure right next to the concert venue.
Elephants have very sensitive ears that can hear up to six miles away. They also feel sound waves through their feet. This allows them to avoid predators and other dangers in the wild, but it is a source of constant pain for captive elephants living in noisy cities. And a concert stage blasting music out of massive speakers just yards from where the elephants live, is just plain torture.
The Oregon Zoo is repeatedly listed as one of the worst zoos in the United States. 21 of the 28 elephants born there are now dead. They have a history of using bullhooks. And so far, they have ignored our calls to release Chendra, the lone Borneo elephant, to a sanctuary.
Until we can free Chendra and the other four elephants at the Oregon Zoo, we need to do as much as possible to minimize their suffering. The Indigo Girls are sensitive, caring people with a history of activism, and they probably have no idea that their concert could cause so much pain. So please sign this petition to help raise their awareness of the elephants' suffering and urge them to cancel their concert at the zoo.
Thank you,
P.S. The Indigo Girls are giving a concert at a horrible zoo where the sound will torture elephants. If there is any group that would listen to your pleas of mercy for the elephants, it is the Indigo Girls. So sign the petition now to urge them to do their part to stop the Oregon Zoo concert series.
