Cambridge Solidarity Federation will have a stall in Scarecrow Corner at this year's
Strawberry Fair, 12noon onwards Saturday 1st June, Midsummer Common.
Strawberry Fair is the most popular free, entirely volunteer run, one day music & arts
event in Cambridge (and probably across Europe!), attracting over 20,000 visitors
throughout the day, running for over 40 years.
In between enjoying the music and the beer tent, call in and see us for some lighthearted
anarcho-syndicalist banter.
We should also have info on local grassroots housing campaigns.

Nikos, a member of the Rouvikonas Anarchist Group, was sentenced by the Federal Court of
Athens to pay 30,000 euros (approximately 150,000 reais!) For a crime of "depredation of
historical monuments" (throwing red paint on the walls of the Greek Parliament) or 10
years behind the bars if the sum is not paid until June 14, 2019. All with the consent of
Syriza's leftist government of Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras. ---- Three other
Rouvikona anarchists identified during the solidarity action with the political prisoner
and hunger striker D. Koufodinas on May 21 are under the same threat. Koufodinas on
Thursday (23/05) interrupted the hunger strike that had been taking place since May 2
after the Greek authorities guaranteed their right of temporary release.

At the same time, in Thessaloniki, four members of the Thessaloniki Liberation Initiative
were arrested during an intervention in the city's public prosecutor's office on 21 May.
The comrades were released, but will have to appear before the Court in October 2019.

The Autonomous Workers Confederation is a trade union organization that is independent of
state, business, political parties, foundations and foreign embassies. And do not
compromise on this! ---- The Autonomous Workers' Confederation is a democratic
organization, individual members and sections are equal and decisions are made at general
meetings. ---- The Autonomous Workers' Confederation is a class organization that is open
to workers, unemployed, students and retirees - regardless of belief, sex, age, race,
religion or ethnicity! ---- The Autonomous Workers 'Confederation uncompromisingly
protects the labor and human rights of its members, state or European institutions,
employers' organizations, private companies or courts.
The Autonomous Workers' Confederation does not support political parties, does not
participate in election campaigns, does not raise candidates.

The Autonomous Workers' Confederation rejects the union syndication and trade union
bureaucracy. The internal organization, strategy and tactics of the trade union sections
of the Confederation are based on self-organization of workers.

The Autonomous Workers' Confederation has no ambition to participate in the "trilateral"
or other forms of "social dialogue" with employers and the state.

The Autonomous Workers 'Confederation is a part of the international workers' movement and
maintains relationships with related objectives and principles, groups and organizations.

The immediate objectives the Autonomous Workers Confederation puts forward are:

- immediate and non-arbitrary increase in income (wages, pensions, allowances, child
allowances, etc.).

- reducing the retirement age and a new pension system.

- an immediate end to the trade in human health! Free and publicly available healthcare!
Dignified payment of the work of the medical workers.

- free, secular and publicly available education.

- Contrary to the policy of cutting public spending, privatization, liberalization,
deregulation, etc.

- socialization of all public services - electricity, water, steam, transport. These
services exist to relieve people's lives, not to make it even more difficult.
Socialization of the energy sector and termination of concessions for mineral resources.

The main tool of the Confederation for achieving the goals and tasks is the power of the
organized workers!

Our firm belief is that there is no general solution to the serious systemic problems
within today's capitalist social formation! That is why we strive and fight for a new,
free, classless society based on the principles of freedom, equality, solidarity and
mutual assistance!

About a month ago the closure of reception centers with the consequent deportation of the
people who lived there began in many cities. The following is the testimony of Franco,
coordinator of the Africa Academy Calcio association, who for some years has been working
with young foreigners in the sports and social field, regarding what happened in Livorno
on April 29th. ---- Livorno has forgotten its history of hospitality and solidarity ----
After many reception centers for asylum seekers run by associations have closed their
doors for the Salvini Decree, also in Livorno, from Monday 29 April, in the indifference
of all the political forces that in this time of elections flaunt their anti-fascism, many
young migrants were loaded onto a bus and deported to the Val di Cornia.

I was present on that occasion and I saw scenes that I never thought I'd see in my life.
The suffering of the boys with their luggage and their few things while getting on a bus
with destination nothing for a life of hell. We returned to those nights when Jews were
loaded onto German trucks and deported to concentration camps, and around them, as Primo
Levi always said, there was no one to protest. The police, as usual, were present with a
threatening air, preventing young migrants from making contact with the outside world.

Even the German military did so, they kept the "strangers" at a distance with violent
methods. After the hugs to the boys, of which two belonged to Africa Academy Calcio, the
bus left. I do not expect anything from the political forces or from the local
administration but it was a shame for a Livorno that has always distinguished itself for
its anti-fascism not to see anyone to bring some solidarity to those boys, a hug, to show
them that we understood their sickness. Livornine Livorno no longer exists, it has been
abolished by indifference!!

Since April 29, disinterest and a lack of humanity have triumphed for the joy of the
Northern League and fascists. It would also have been a testimony for those who see
migration as the problem of problems, knowing full well that they pretend to be great,
because they know very well what the fate of these young people will be.

In fact many of them were deported to the Franciana, an old school used as a First
Reception Center for political refugees located between Piombino and Venturina.

I was at the Franciana because I brought health documents to the boys of Africa Academy
Soccer and clothes to everyone. The amazing thing is that this school is located in the
middle of the countryside, isolated from everything and everyone.

The classrooms have been converted into rooms where 10 beds have been arranged in which
the boys sleep and put their things in crumbling lockers. Boredom and melancholy are the
conditions with which they have to deal. Privacy zero when everyone is in the dorm.
Reading, meditating, praying becomes really difficult due to overcrowding.

When they go out they can only do it nearby, not because they can't go out but because
they don't know where to go. Piombino is 17 km away and Venturina 6. The Red Cross
employees who run the facility go to clean the rooms cyclically and the food is brought to
a cooperative in Piombino.

The person responsible is so loyal to the diktat of the Prefecture that it does not allow
anyone to enter even for a word of comfort or the distribution of clothes. Because the
fear of losing a job is stronger than humanity that you can try for these guys.

In front of the gate runs a ditch full of putrid and stinky water full of plastic and
paperwork. It would not surprise me that it would soon be reclaimed by children at no cost.

In summer, mosquitoes will abound and be annoying. What hope, therefore, for these guys?

The Livornese associations that hosted them said that the best solutions were chosen for
their lives.

The Franciana is a deficient structure both from the structural point of view and because
it offers nothing to children, only boredom and moral destruction. The boys of the Africa
Academy in fact after a week of stay in this structure they have revealed remarkable
psychological problems, because to pass from a life made of commitments to a life made of
nothing is dramatic.

The Salvini law has also thwarted all the efforts that have been made to recreate a
harmony in the psyche of these children who presented signs of problems due to the
bombardments seen and experienced in the places of origin , to rapes, to drownings, to
beatings in Libya and on our territory. Bringing them back to a state of total
bewilderment in an environment such as the Franciana, with the threatening shadow of the
caporalato, can lead them to worsen again, knowing that the slaughter led to suicide in
other situations.

When I went to the Franciana I was initially mistaken for a corporal by some who have
lived there for some time, and I thought about how many corporals will present themselves
or have already presented themselves in this structure to bring the boys to work in the
Val di Cornia.

The agro-food area of the area is vast and I think that the intention of the Prefecture of
Livorno was precisely to send these children to feed the workforce of local entrepreneurs
who, in order to make their profit, will pay the boys little money.

It is the reserve labor force, which is what the bosses need to create a capillary profit
network of which the illegal hiring is also part.

Peace for these guys is really hard!!

Having for many years been dominated by a strain of anarchism that is largely
individualist, anti-organizational, and estranged from the workers' movement, it has had
few recent clear successes to point to. ---- Now, a renewed interest in socialism
generally has spurred a growth on the far left of U.S. politics. Anarchist militants have
similarly seen a renewed interest in our vision of a libertarian future. This talk will
explore the recent history of anarchism in the United States and where it might be headed.

nationwide anarchist organization with locals in over a dozen cities across the U.S. You
