On Tuesday, July 2, the Saguenay City Council passed a resolution in favor of
industrial-port projects, almost unanimously. Although everyone is involved in the
projects, Councilor Kevin Armstrong voted against the resolution " because it is presented
in a way that includes all major projects, which he says is not adequate.[1]But of course
he hastens to say that he is for all industrial projects. And the other adviser and not
least, our national Simon-Olivier Côté, preferred not to present himself to face the
humiliation. The latter is for all projects, but against the third port planned for
Arianne Phosphate. He wants the mining company to review its plans and use the port of
Grande-Anse instead. He did not dare to face all the questions of the opponents present,
which would have risked shattering the green varnish of this opportunist adviser.
This position of the City Council is not surprising. Since the beginning of the
announcement of the various industrial projects in the region, the opposition was
nonexistent among the councilors. This is the logical sequence of things. The various
levels of government are paving the way for the industry. All with several hundred million
dollars in subsidies[2]. They open the doors of exploitation and destruction. Soon, it
will be necessary to change the postcards sold in tourist catches. The fjord will no
longer have the same mouth.
The deification of work
When job promises come, politicians and a good part of the population are in turmoil.
People are ready for a lot of bows for "jobs in the area". Even if it does not concern
them. Arianne Phosphate promises X jobs, it'll be good for the region! Our young people
are constantly leaving the Saguenay! It does not matter if the figures remain vague, if
the jobs created can destroy the living environment of the inhabitants, all that is
necessary is jobs without asking any question.
It is obvious that all this stems from the unequal development linked to capitalism where
resource regions are created in order to support the system's need for raw materials.
Thus, complete regions depend on large industries based elsewhere, and the worry of losing
them causes people living in this territory to make many sacrifices to keep the plant
running. For some villages, a plant closure caused a drastic devitalization of the place.
Capitalism creates these situations, not the people who no longer want capitalism and the
ecological disaster it causes in its wake. At some point, we will have to ask the
question: how to destroy this link of dependence so profound with the economic system?
Sooner or later we will have to break this relationship of exploitation. For us, it's
about setting up another company, created from below and to the left. Instead of waiting
for the State to pour us some granules, we can organize, between the exploited, outside
the bourgeois system and its values. Create free zones where autonomous ideas and
practices are put into action. Alternatives to the system that will ultimately act as
counter-powers. All this in a revolutionary perspective and defense of our struggles
against the armed arm of the State, the Police. Create free zones where autonomous ideas
and practices are put into action. Alternatives to the system that will ultimately act as
counter-powers. All this in a revolutionary perspective and defense of our struggles
against the armed arm of the State, the Police. Create free zones where autonomous ideas
and practices are put into action. Alternatives to the system that will ultimately act as
counter-powers. All this in a revolutionary perspective and defense of our struggles
against the armed arm of the State, the Police.
Our contribution may be minimal, but it will still be greater than all the people sitting
in their chairs who are critical of those who are trying to build a more just world. The
keyboard warriors and the zombified TV do not affect us.
That's why we continue to organize for a united and independent city center. On Saturday,
August 3rd starting at 11:30 am , we invite you to come and build the furniture for the
Parc du 19 juillet ( at the corner of Tessier and Jacques-Cartier streets ). Free food,
free market, music and more! Put Simon-Olivier Côté to the test! Will he let the city's
employees once again break up the self-managed park materials built by local people? Or
its "green and progressive" side will emerge and agree to give ground permanently for the
autonomous uses of the neighborhood?

The overflowing imagination of the AL and CGA groups led to the submission of 28 name
proposals ! To decide between them, the congress used an original voting method, the
effectiveness of which was pleasantly surprised. ---- During this founding congress, it
was necessary to choose a name. For that, the question of the mode of designation was
essential: how to make sure that the process is democratic, and allows to choose a name in
which a maximum of activists can be recognized ? ---- To solve this thorny issue, fraught
with political issues - but also, let's say, aesthetic, sentimental and historical - the
AL-CGA roadmap had planned to collect all the names proposed by local groups for a few
weeks. Everyone had to be argued. We expected a dozen proposals. We have collected ... no
less than 28 !
Having discarded the idea of a simple two-round ballot, deemed unfit for the issue, a
joint federal AL-CGA coordination, two months before the convention, experimented with two
voting methods. The fifty or so delegates present were able to judge on the piece.
The first was the Borda method: it was a question of ranking the names in order of
preference, by assigning 28 points to its favorite name, 27 to the second, 26 to the
third, and so on. The last received 1 point. The name with the highest score had to win.
The second method was that of the vote by value, giving each name a score: + 2 (very
favorable), + 1 (favorable), 0 (neutral), - 1 (unfavorable) or - 2 (very unfavorable).
Here again, the winner was the name with the highest score.
Given the puzzle that it could be to rank 28 names, the second method quickly appeared
much more reliable and fast.
At the time of the congress, after a debate on names, all the groups present filled out a
sheet totaling the votes of the comrades present and represented. And the result was
without appeal. Of the 28 names, only 3 scored positive: Libertarian Communist Action (+6
points) ; Libertarian Communist Federation (+52 points) ; Libertarian Communist Union (+
168 points). This last name, arrived largely in the lead, was confirmed the next morning
by a vote of approval, collecting 84,39 % of " for ". So a great success, so that
activists UCL can appropriate this new acronym.

For the Anarchist Camp of 17, 18, 19 and 20 of July of 2019, we want that the people who
participate in this experiment of anarchy lived can enjoy a variety of daily activities.
To look for this to happen, from the organization we prepare several activities. On the
one hand, there are several workshops: a workshop on how we can work to resolve conflicts
in a satisfactory manner, a workshop with antipatriarchal themes and a workshop on the
daily use of power relations. ---- On the other hand, there are a number of debates: a
debate where there will be a conflict of values, a debate on the question of work and its
role in various political-economic systems, and a debate on the current situation on
prostitution and the various positions that can be take about.
Along with this total of three workshops and three debates, other types of leisure
activities are also prepared, such as hiking, sea snorkeling routes, beach games, bird
recognition and others that will be discussed at the camp itself. All this, prepared so
that the time that we spend in the camp is the most pleasant one possible.
Finally, as the camp will be what we participants do, the activities mentioned above will
be orientative. They will be a base that can be accepted or rejected to the liking of the
people who participate in the camp. So if you have some activity that you would like to
do, do not hesitate to bring it and propose to the assembly that we will do each night to
manage what will be the next day of the camp.

These past few months have been a revolution in my life, not on a personal level but on an
anarchist militant level. We have managed to build a Libertarian Youth in Mallorca. ----
The exciting thing about the project is that it has been created from infinitely diverse
people, from people who already had experience militating, people who do not, students and
workers, people with no theoretical training about anarchism ... ---- And is that young
people are the future, in any field and that is why political parties and any type of
organization strives to reach young people. This in anarchism does not happen. The
anarchist organizations do not have a program to reach young people, nor young sections or
similar things as we could see with the CUP with Arran or the SEPC, which are its main
source of militants.
Anarchists need to organize in universities and institutes to break with the prevailing
state patterns in youth and student organizations. Because there are anarchists
everywhere, you would be surprised how many people are anarchists and they are at home
doing nothing because they have no military place, practically our Libertarian Youth have
been born from that, we are people who did not have a place where we We found ourselves
comfortable with our ideology and we created it. In addition, we have a good number of
people who are organized in groups of pro-independence, communist ideology ... because
they want to do something and that is the closest thing they can find. That is, the lack
of people is never an excuse.
Its Purpose
The purpose of Libertarian Youth or another libertarian youth organization are tools to
make anarchism reach a discontented sector of the population with a more than uncertain
future. The elementary function of a Libertarian Youth must always be to form militants,
in theory and in practice, since one is worth nothing without the other. The Youth must be
the pillars of the future of anarchism, for that reason they must learn from the assembly,
to carry out a direct action, the functioning of a union or the history of the anarchist
movement.
In addition, Libertarian Youth have a lot of versatility, they can act in many areas at
the same time. One day they can be in an anarchist book fair, organizing acts of anarchist
self-consumption and the next day they can be on the picket line of a strike or stopping
an eviction and collaborating with social movements, influencing them and giving them
perspective.
The examples
Lately, new Libertarian Youth are emerging and the different anti-capitalist youth
organizations throughout the Spanish State are gaining strength. To give examples,
District 14 , which does a fabulous job stopping evictions and carrying out campaigns like
the ones they have against betting houses, is not exclusively an anarchist, but advocates
for the unity of action among young people in Madrid's Moratalaz neighborhood. .
Then we have exclusively anarchist organizations like Batzac , born last year. They
operate throughout the territory of Catalonia and have carried out a large number of
actions and actively support the Catalan social movements in their day to day. So far it
is the largest project and aims to gather more forces in the youth field within anarchism.
They are an ambitious project and one that advances at a good pace.
Then we have the recently emerged Libertarian Youth Jaén , in this same year. In April,
the Joventuts Llibertàries de Mallorca were made public and a few days ago the Joventuts
Llibertàries de Vilanova i la Geltrú left, so for now it seems that the anarchist youth
remains afloat and even manages to move forward. There is hope.
Then we have a lot of initiatives that already have a time of experience as are other JJLL
such as Zaragoza , Madrid or València , all from their perspective of anarchism. We also
have the FEL , which currently seems stagnant and the Assembly of Libertarian Students of
Murcia . The projects focused on the student field are also elementary, since in the
educational institution it is where an immense work is needed that the reformist and
puppet organizations of the State do not propose. In addition, these organizations can
grow out of the student as did the JJLL Zaragoza.
In addition, these last two years the Meeting of Young Anarchists has been held as a
meeting place for different groups and individuals from across the State.
Anarchism needs these groups and the anarchists with more experience, those who some day
passed or not through the Libertarian Youth, should help young people who start to
military and build a new world. And these Youth should not be small and closed groups that
are more like an anarchist social club than anything else, they should be action groups,
open to constant growth, to make changes here and now. You also have to start separating
the anology of young anarchists = punk or rap subculture. A group without this will be
doomed to its demise in a short time because its members are burned, internal fights and a
myriad of potential problems, in case of surviving this will have to face time and find a
relief to its militants. This is the biggest problem of many collectives,
That is why we must build strong, young and constantly regenerating groups with new
militancy that follows those who are advancing in age and experience. Some strong youth
collectives ensure a strong anarchism in the future.
So I encourage you to join a Libertarian Youth or other similar group and in case you do
not have any nearby create one, because surely there are people closer than you think with
the same ideas and desire to start such a project. I encourage you to put all your
possible efforts and strengths and begin to practice solidarity, mutual support and direct
action. Long live the Julis!

Introduction by Aurora Santiago-Ortiz: La Colectiva Feminista en Construcción, referred to
as "La Cole," began in 2013 when feminist activists from the Puerto Rican student movement
and other radical activist spaces decided to create an intentional space to address
multiple and simultaneous oppressions affecting womxn and femmes. La Cole is an
intersectional political organization, with an explicitly anti-capitalist, anti-racist,
pro-queer and trans agenda from its inception. La Cole is a highly visible presence in
Puerto Rico's public sphere and have consistently put forward their opposition to
capitalist and neoliberal government policies that have dispossessed and disenfranchised
the most vulnerable populations in Puerto Rico: Black, poor, trans, queer, womxn and
femmes. These policies are reflected in the closing of public schools, public university
funding cuts, and health care and services.
During the past two years, La Cole has carried out an intensive campaign against the
alarming number of femicides in Puerto Rico, which were at 23 in 2018, with many more
cases under investigation. Among the investigated are members of the Puerto Rican police
force. In 2019 to date, 9 women have died at the hands of intimate partners or
ex-partners, including a 13-year-old girl. In November 2018, La Cole drafted an Executive
Order so that Governor Ricardo Rosselló would declare a State of Emergency and create
public policy addressing the femicides in Puerto Rico. La Cole spent two nights camping
out in front of the Governor's mansion, holding workshops and other activities to educate
and raise awareness of gender violence. Governor Rosselló did not meet with La Cole and no
such State of Emergency has been declared.
It should come as no surprise that when 889 pages of a private Telegram group chat which
included the Governor surfaced this past weekend, the public reacted with outrage in
reading the misogynist, racist, and classist comments coming from the Governor, and
several of his cabinet members, and advisers.
Statement by Colectiva Feminista en Construcción, Puerto Rico
Versión Español Debajo
Members of the Colectiva Feminista en Construcción demanded the resignation of Governor
Ricardo Roselló Nevares, after the publication of a series of Telegram messages, in which
he makes misogynistic and homophobic remarks, as do other members of his cabinet.
"For over a year we have been claiming a State of Emergency due to the violence that women
suffer in this country. We have addressed our claims to the state, denouncing their
inaction and complicity in maintaining this state of emergency, by not taking affirmative
and effective actions to address it. If this government has been consistent in anything,
it has been in ignoring this reality. That, along with the governor's unfortunate remarks,
such as calling former councilman Mark Viverito a "hooker", among other sexist and
homophobic statements, shows us the discriminatory nature of his administration and his
inability to govern this country, so we demand its immediate resignation, "said Zoán
Dávila Roldán, spokesperson for the Collective.
For her part, Vanesa Contreras Capó, also a spokesperson for the organization, stressed
that the gender violence that plagues the country not only manifests itself within
relationships, but is a reflection of social institutions, the education system, the lack
of health services, of the government, its public policy, and the recent cases of
corruption, in which funds were allegedly diverted from the departments of education and
health. Therefore, she considers, citizen action is necessary.
"Yesterday and today have been decisive days for Puerto Rico. The rampant corruption and
sexism of the government of this country force us to take to the streets and demand not
only the resignation of the misogynist governor, Ricardo Roselló, but also demand
resources for a citizen audit of the debt. At times when institutional violence has shown
us its worst face, in the Collective we are ready to continue promoting the mobilizations
that will succeed in stopping robbery, looting and institutional violence, "said Contreras
Capó.
Last November, the Collective stayed for three days in front of La Fortaleza, denouncing
the gender violence, in all of its diverse manifestations, that affects women all over the
country. There they demanded that the governor declare a state of emergency and implement
a plan that addresses this problem in a holistic manner. Similarly, in conversations with
his aides, they denounced the austerity measures implemented by his government, which have
put the lives and well-being of women and their families in the country at risk. At this
time, the governor did not heed the organization. Later, he expressed to the spokespersons
of the Collective, that "he would not sign the Executive Order".
"Now we know why the governor did not hear us while we were three days in front of
Fortaleza. Now we know why he did not want to meet with us, now we know why they continue
murdering, attacking, raping, abusing, harassing women in this country with impunity;
because the one who runs the country is the first to do violence to us, "said Dávila Roldán.
The call of the Colectiva Feminista en Construcción is focused on the state, knowing that
it holds the power to facilitate the conditions to overcome the inequalities that women in
the country face. Consequently, it has demanded the implementation of education with a
gender perspective, a demand which has been ignored by the governor. His remarks not only
highlight the need to address gender violence through prevention and education, but it
underscores the call for declaring a state of emergency.
"Governor Ricardo Rosselló has done violence not only to women - whom he insults directly
- but to the country. His attack was not that he called us "whores", "kittens", or any
other macho epithet; the governor's attack is that he still has not declared a state of
emergency against gender violence," concluded Contreras Capó.
