Child marriage is a scourge in countries all over the world, placing girls at risk of harm to their health, curtailed education, poverty, and domestic violence.
And in many US states, children can also still be legally married.
This week, lawmakers in the US state of Massachusetts, where between 2000 and 2016, more than 1,200 children under age 18 were married, have the chance to put an end to this harmful practice in their state once and for all.
