Dear friends, The Trump International Golf Course in Aberdeenshire, Scotland has long been controversial. The area is home to stunning environmentally protected sand dunes known as the Foveran Links, but in 2005, Trump barged in, dead set on building a golf resort there anyway. Trump promised to invest in the area and create jobs in exchange for zoning permission to build on the dunes. Granting that permission has turned out to be a huge mistake. More than a decade later, the jobs have yet to appear, and the dunes have been badly damaged. According to the Guardian, the dunes within Trump's land were flattened and reshaped, while landscapers introduced plants to the area that have stopped the dunes from drifting naturally. Just as environmentalists feared. The Trump golf course has been a disaster for the Foveran Links. Even worse, recently Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) has recommended rescinding the area's designation as a site of special scientific interest (SSSI). Instead of rescinding their status, the Scottish government and SNH should force Trump to pay for dune restoration. He broke them, now he should pay for them to be repaired. SNH will take three months to decide what to do with the area. That means we have three months to save the dunes. Sign the petition and tell SNH that these environmentally special dunes must be saved. Tell them to let them keep their SSSI status and make Trump International fix them. Thank you,   Ellen B.
