Sign Now Dear friends, Title X is an enormously successful public health program. It helps low-income women access basic health care like cancer screenings, sexually-transmitted infection testing, and reproductive care. It doesn't pay for any women to have an abortion. But that isn't good enough for misogynistic anti-choice politicians. Despite the fact that, by law, Title X funding already cannot be spent on abortions, the Trump Administration and their right-wing friends want to go even further. Now, any health clinic that even broaches the topic of abortion will be banned from receiving federal funding. This is absurd and outrageous. Sign the petition to speak out, now! Under Trump's new rule, merely acknowledging that abortion is a viable option and a legal health service is disallowed. In practice, this means that four million low-income women that Title X serves — women who may or may not need abortions or referrals for abortion services — will be without a service provider. Let's be clear about this. People of all genders rely on affordable public health clinics every day. When these clinics start disappearing, people who merely need screenings, tests, and lab work will also be affected. Abortion gag rules are a favorite policy among Republicans. Every time a Republican is elected president, they attach a gag rule to all foreign aid. They threaten to revoke funding from organizations that acknowledge that abortion is part of comprehensive reproductive health care. Now they're using the same tactic at home, too. In effect, they'd rather see more women end up pregnant, injured or killed by trying to terminate a pregnancy themselves through unsafe means than provide women with basic care. Luckily, House Democrats are standing their ground. In June, the U.S. House of Representatives voted to block Trump's domestic gag rule from taking affect — but the Republican Senate has refused to join them. We need to remind them: abortion access is a legal right in the United States. Sign the petition to demand that the U.S. Senate block Trump's repressive gag rule!
