This man wants to sell off all public lands. So Trump put him in charge.

Trump's pick to manage our public lands thinks every acre should be sold off to the highest bidder. He's got to go.

Dear friends,
Trump has never used "caring about the environment" as a criterion for appointing someone to head an environmental agency. But his new choice for acting director of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is perhaps his worst, most unqualified choice yet.
William Perry Pendley is a pro-coal lackey and friend of the Koch brothers. So far, he's never been confirmed for any appointed position, let alone the head of an agency. But, even worse, Pendley actually doesn't believe public lands should exist. And now, Trump, has put him in charge of all our public lands for the next few months.
The acting directorship will be up at the end of September, but don't let his short tenure fool you. Pendley can do an incredible amount of damage in a few months. The BLM director makes decisions and sets priorities every day. He could fast track the approval of oil leases on sensitive habitat and slow down the execution of rules to protect resources, and dictate the government's stance on important issues and legal cases. It's a hugely powerful job, and every day that this fox is allowed to stay in the hen house puts our public lands at risk.
We can't just wait for Pendley's appointment to lapse — or worse — for him to be nominated to permanently fill the position. Sign the petition now to put pressure on the Secretary of the Interior to pick someone who believes in the sanctity of public lands for BLM acting director.
Thank you,

P.S. Trump's pick to run the Bureau of Land Management could create permanent damage to our public lands, even in just a few weeks. Tell the Interior Secretary to pick someone else to fill the post.
