Trump Is Raising Money for His Reelection Campaign by Selling Items That Will Destroy Our Planet Sign Now Dear friends, U.S. President Donald Trump is known for selling a variety of ridiculous things. A scam university with no accreditation, the "Success by Trump" cologne, steaks, a "travel Trump style" booking business, mortgages just as the housing bubble was bursting... the list goes on and on. Now, he's added a new item: speciality plastic straws emblazoned with his name. He's selling packs of 10 for $15 a pop as part of his reelection campaign and, sure, at first glance, this could seem laughable. But plastic straws are one of the most damaging items to the environment and wildlife. Scientists estimate that Americans alone use more than 500 million plastic straws every single day. And most of them end up in places they really do not belong — namely, in our oceans and in animals' bellies. In fact, experts estimate that in the next three decades, there could be more plastic in our seas than fish. In the process, these products are polluting whole ecosystems and killing the turtles, whales, seals, shellfish, and birds that ingest them. They are one of the worst forms of single-use plastic, since filtration systems meant to weed out trash often can't catch them due to their small size. Trump knows all of this. But instead of doing anything about it, he's decided to straight-up mock the environmental crisis. In fact, his website declares: "Liberal paper straws don't work. STAND WITH PRESIDENT TRUMP and buy your pack of recyclable straws today." It's worth noting, however, that plastic straws are rarely ever recycled — meaning this Trump merchandise will end up in the ocean the same as any other straw. Our planet and our future is not a joke. Yet since Trump and his cronies have taken control of the White House, he has rolled back environmental legislation to protect clean air and water, while loosening laws designed to minimize drilling, logging, and other reckless and destructive practices. Perhaps most upsetting, he and his administration have consistently denied the existence of climate change. These plastic straws are just one more way to hurt the Earth. Tell Trump that there's nothing funny about what he and his administration are doing to our environment. Please sign the petition and demand that his campaign cease selling these straws and instead take action to save our planet!
