As in the ancient legend, it is the bearer of bad news that the tyrant decides to shoot
down. Several caregivers of an Ehpad near Lorient live today this ubiquitous situation.
---- Since January 2018, the South Brittany Hospital Group (GHBS) has been bringing
together the various hospitals in the Pays de Lorient, including the Port-Louis / Riantec
Ehpad. These megastructures were created to reduce expenses ... and in passing give full
powers to the management to apply purely budgetary logic. ---- At GHBS, this translates
into a significant understaffing of services and management based on fear, threats,
pressures ... and now disciplinary measures. ---- Thus, three employees of the Ehpad are
currently sanctioned for "undermining the dignity of patients" . What happened ?
On the morning of December 23, 2017, the team is again understaffed. Sophie,
medico-psychological, says: "When we called the manager that morning, he told us on the
phone:" do the best "." This response, caregivers hear too often. It means "Take your own
responsibility for prioritizing care. That is to say, to perform certain treatments and not
others. "So we have" done the best " ; we decided to make a proper toilet to all people
and not to dress them. On the other hand, we gave them a proper meal." After service, the
team nonetheless decided to write a listing to report " adverse events" of the day. It is
mentioned that the patients could not be dressed but also, explains Sophie, in an "item
management" , a "questioning of the role of the executive" . It is this second element
that the management does not support: "If we had not said anything, in fact, nothing would
have happened." There, the crackdown.
reversal of the accusation against the caregivers
In March 2018 then in November, the team is convened in a pre-disciplinary interview,
before a disciplinary council on April 9, 2019. "The management blames us for what they
were accused of, " denounce the caregivers: institutional abuse caused by problems of
understaffing.
The situation is so unfair that the Disciplinary Board is against sanctions. But, coup de
force, the director of the group, Thierry Gamond-Rius, decides alone to punish the
caregivers: six months of exclusion without pay for one, downgrading 6 steps without
seniority for the second and warning for the third. At the same time, a CGT elected to the
CHSCT was demoted by 6 years of seniority for having warned a contractor that working
outside the legal framework could be dangerous for her health and that of patients.
A managerial logic, ruthless governance: a system that mistreats the old age and strikes
the dedicated workers who worry about it does not deserve to live.

The Yellow Vests Movement held a rally on September 14th throughout France as part of the
44th Protest Act. A central rally was held in Nantes, where thousands of people took to
the streets and there were violent clashes with the police, with arrests, wounded and
routs. Self-defense was able to prove itself with all determination. The response to tear
gas was Molotov cocktails. ---- The forces of the capitalist order prepared in advance for
the protests in rebellious Nantes. Armored vehicles were brought into the street; many
highways were blocked. Police provocations began even before the demonstration. The police
made several arrests and confiscated a large papier-mâché lobster and dozens of umbrellas.
It is stated that the night before, 22 Molotov cocktails were found in one of the containers.
Carrying out actions in the city center was forbidden, and the police tried to prevent
demonstrators from going there. Gathering in the western part of Nantes, the protesters at
14.00 moved to the center. "Justice for Steve: we will not forget, we will not forgive" -
could be read on banners. "Everyone despises the police," "Police kill," the protesters
chanted. Demonstrators expressed their solidarity with protest movements in other
countries, including the Greek Exarchy. When approaching the center, battles with the
police repeatedly broke out, in particular, at Commerce Square, where positions passed
from hand to hand. Police used gas grenades and water cannons, protesters responded with
Molotov cocktails. During the street battles, an electrical transformer, shop windows,
benches were damaged ...
It was impossible to breathe in the city due to the abundance of tear gas. Even seasoned
commentators noticed that they had never encountered so much gas. Police reported the
arrest of 35 people. 2 police officers and 2 gendarmes were also injured.
In Paris, demonstrators surrounded by police calmly walked from the gates of Choisy to
Grenelle Boulevard, near the Eiffel Tower. They chanted anti-government slogans, demanded
the right to a referendum and expressed their intention to continue protests. "Work,
consume and shut up," protesters shouted ironically, urging demonstrators to join them.
Among the demonstrators there were many pensioners: the rally takes place at the height of
the struggle against another neoliberal pension reform.
In addition to the action in Paris, the "yellow vests" held a demonstration at Orly
Airport, protesting against the privatization of Paris airports. They handed out leaflets
to passengers, urging them to sign an online petition against privatization. Demonstrators
chanted: "Orly-Roissy has no price."
In Lyon, demonstrators gathered in the middle of the day on Bellecour Square, despite the
ban of the prefecture, which tried to prevent the holding of rallies in 3 districts,
including the city center. 9 people were detained.
In Toulouse, protesters marched along the main shopping and central streets, chanting
"Toulouse, Toulouse, get up!"
Demonstrations were also held in Marseille, Montpellier, Bordeaux and other cities.

Finally, the PMA is open to women couples and single women, an opportunity to question the
dogma of the hetero-patriarchal family. If the PMA is legal for all, the path seems still
fraught with pitfalls. ---- Parliamentary work on the bioethics bill began Monday (August
26th). This project includes the opening of Medically Assisted Procreation (ART) (a term
that encompasses all reproductive technologies that use medicine, here we refer to in
vitro fertilization with anonymous donor) to lesbian couples and single women. ---- The
economic conditions would be equal with heterosexual couples who have fertility problems
since reimbursement by social security is expected. ---- Even if the filiation of the
second parent will fortunately no longer be established by advance declaration to the
civil status (via a notary), with registration of the method of conception, there would be
in this law still no solution for the second filiation of children of lesbian couples born
before this law (third-party donor outside the medical setting, LDCs abroad). However,
this would be an opportunity to replace lengthy adoption procedures with maternity
recognition. There may be reluctance to use technology in procreation, and to question the
social character of the desire for a child, but the fact remains that equality between all
women is a requirement of justice.
The Catholics of Alliance Vita or other Catholic family associations are fiercely opposed
in the name of preserving the father's place. Whether the father knocks, or does not pay
child support, does not matter. It only needs to keep its symbolic place in the
patriarchal order.
The issue of access to the PMA for women couples and for single women is a political issue
of deconstruction of the traditional family. This is to show that women can emancipate
themselves from men to found families coming out of these schemes, with different
solidarities.
To put an end to this regime of inequalities, to put an end to fear and oppression, it is
necessary that our struggles take the way of a break with the patriarchal system, but also
with the capitalism and the racist system which do not that strengthen this tyranny.
We want to live without domination, to live free in a society free from exploitation where
social equality would be ensured by the collective management of our needs and means of
production, where the emancipation of each one would be the business of all so much in his
sexual orientation than in his life choices, where solidarity is the basis of society.
This is called libertarian communism.

We always knew ‘austerity' in the guess of welfare reform, whatever this was meant to
portray - was a ploy, and excuse, a political sleight of hand that deliberately targeted
those at the absolute ragged edge of society and already living in poverty. As political
activists', we're shocked still by the Tories use of austerity to justify this
manipulation - something the Tories are experts at. My surprise is not that they actually
did it, but that people bought it, completely!
There was no commons revolt, or a social revolution - that's' a joke - even the other
political parties, passively by their inactivity allowed ‘austerity' to happen. 7 years
on, Cameron gloats at his achievements'.
