Dear rebels
#RoyalRebellion congratulations on the action yesterday. You were in the news, your message was heard: we have to act to stop climate change and we have to act now. A climate emergency needs to be called out. We do not have until 2030 or 2040 to start implementing changes.
A lot of people were arrested yesterday, blown away by a water cannon, pepper sprayed in the face. There was a lot of violence from the police, none of that is your fault. Yet the violence was there and you faced it non-violently.
Today its time to lick the wounds. It is a painful process. Realizing the state and the police are not there to help you, but keep the people in power in place and are willing to use violence to meet that goal. Coming from an experienced activist: if you have been hurt, emotionally or physically, find people that were there and talk about your experience. It is an important step in healing. If you were not hurt: good. Reach out in solidarity: take the time to check up on your affinity group, your buddies and strangers. So that as a movement you come out stronger.
To finish I like to acknowledge that as white people we are in a privileged position to do mass disobedience actions. People of color, black people, LGBTQI*-people often face violence and oppression on a daily basis and may not be in a situation where they can participate in an action like this without fearing for they safety.
